@@AlwaysBeVacationing we sail November 8th. I'm thinking we'll be assigned a Jr suite in the area where you guys were or aft. I have heard people getting grand suites with guarantee rates but who knows what it'll be like come November. The world of cruising could be very different in 3 months
@Charlene .A. Haynes we got a JR Suite in the new area of the ship where they remodeled the solarium. It was fantastic. Didn't get a bigger suite, but it was a great experience.

I don’t fly southwest. LOl! I booked the weird they select a Balcony room for me thingy. Generally I don’t trust nonsense like this but I saved $700 and I figure under Covid I’ll get a good room. Will they give you the Royal Up or Upgrade option at check In? I would have booked a suite but my only option was Grand Suite.
I’m Almost 99% sure you’ll get an opportunity to bid on a Royal up! You could be pleasantly surprised with your guarantee “thingy” Honestly, the Royal up is just as big of a roll of the dice as a guarantee cabin. I’m always terrified I will get the Royal up and my location will end up sucking compared to sticking with one I carefully selected. It’s an experience. Right?
I will add my option having stayed in both. Now shorter cruise i am ok with balcony but i still prefer a js. If longer i always upgrade to js. Larger bathroom with a tub not a corner shower. Also the closet in a js is walk in and has the room for me to unpack and hang all my and my partners clothes. I am the one 80 percent of the time i pick a js over a balcony.
Totally agree! You got spoiled and now you are a Jr. Suite Snob. :) All kidding aside. I checked the Jr Suite pricing on our upcoming sailing on OotS... but they are sold out! Crossing my fingers for a Royal Up at this point, maybe someone will decide to stay home ??? The Jr Suite is much more comfortable! You can't pack enough to fill that closet! Have you also noticed the Room Stewards seem to have a higher level of customer service?
@@AlwaysBeVacationing Thank you. Our BFF was also upgraded for the same reason. We travel with him on most occasions. Will take a video and photos. Enjoy watching your videos as well. We will never go back into a balcony cabin since we have been in the suites.
@@epowerman1 It is really tempting to move our balconies to suites after this experience. However, we mutually agreed we would rather go more often, than in a suite in 2022! Here is my theory for you... I am not an expert but my gut says they moved everyone up so they could free up the Jr Suite category and work through the Royal Ups. OR you are both Diamond status and they are comping frequent cruisers. What do you think?
@@AlwaysBeVacationing We are both Emerald and close to diamond status. Post this cruise we will be diamond. Could very well be. I like the space. The only time I will do a balcony will be here in CA on the Navigator for a short 3 days trip scheduled in Feb.
We did not eat in Coastal Kitchen. We were traveling with family who were in Ocean View Balconies and we had all purchased Unlimited Dining before we won the Royal Up.
With a Jr Suite you can only have dinner in the Coastal Kitchen, not breakfast or lunch. But you get into the shows before everyone else, which gets a very good choice of seats. You also get double points if you booked it from the begging. You don’t get double points if you do the Royal Up though.
@@AlwaysBeVacationing if we find a good deal we take it. Last cruise on Allure we got an unbelievable price on a Grand Suite. Now THAT comes with lots of perks! And the Cabin is wonderful with a super large balcony.

We booked a jr Suite and a Balcony for the last 4 nights. I kind of wonder if we will still like Balconies after staying in the Jr suite.
11 nights! That sounds amazing! Freedom OTS is one of our top favorite ships, possibly even #1?? It will be strange to go from a Jr Suite to a Balcony. The balcony seemed so much smaller when we visited our travelling partners to shoot the video. It was similar from going back to an inside from a Balcony. You can do it... but it is strange! I am curious... check to see if your suite is available for your 4 day portion. Maybe an upgrade to the suite would be worth looking into? Switching cabins on a back to back is a bit annoying, possible, and annoying. ;) Talk to your travel agent or RCI to see if it is worth that upgrade this late. They may still be handing out Royal Ups and maybe you could cash in? If you decide to make the call, let us know the outcome. I would be curious to know if you get your request granted. - We are not in aviation. :) Rod does have a commercial drone license, which is almost like getting a pilot license but without the flight hours.

We were actually bumped up from a GS to the OS on Freedom. No Royal up. They did it when the ship changed out. Cant wait.... 9/27-10/1

Were You able to eat in the Costal Kitchen with the Royal up ? I think ot is available for breakfast and or luch when you book a junior suite .
