- Nice weekend hike to Sheldon Lake on Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands for an overnight stay at arguably the best campsite on the lake. It wasn't the full-blown winter camping experience I had originally planned, but turned out to be an amazing early Spring trip.
Good weather, mild temperatures and the park nearly all to myself for this adventure.

For anyone using qew11, just a note to remind everyone the city of kawarthalakes has a comeplete fire ban on for the month of April. And most of the park is in it. Even campfires are not allowed.
Thanks for the heads up. Can’t really tell from the video because it’s quick, but at the 29:15 mark I’m walking past the sign at the trail head on Devils Lake - the needle was still on green as of Apr-3.
@@danilointhewoods ya thats where it gets stupid as the trail head is actually in haliburton highlands but most of the park is in city of kawartha lakes. I live just south of the park and my best friend is one of the fire coordinators and he said they never posts signs at park but will look into it. we had a large fire at southwest end of the park years ago and had to bring in army firefighters. cost lots of money so ban has been posted since.
and if they dont post how are you to know!

I have to apologize for apparently I was mistaken about the fire ban. there is a fire ban on in city of kawarthalakes but provincial parks are not covered under municipal rules unless they decide to uphold them. and there is no posting of a ban at this time in ontario parks. Sorry for misimformation
