I mean there was a moment in Master Chef US where someone used salt instead of sugar in the pressure test and got sent home. I believe it was Leslie from season 5.
Now this part may be wrong but I think he said, years later, that he didn't taste the salt in his dessert at all and it was scripted that he would get eliminated.
