Yep, and parking mode works then. It just takes 2 to 3 minutes to activate. EchoMaster makes those cables. To prevent battery drainage its wise to have the software configured to 2 hours of parking mode maximum.
this is an excellent installation video. I will add that if like me, you have the F770 or like model, the existing hardwiring cables will work with the new cameras so all you have to do is replace the physical cameras. No cable changes necessary. I am adding the radar unit to improve parking recording and I'd like your thoughts on that unit if you haven't checked it out already.
Thank you so much for showing exactly what I was looking for the settings on the phone. You can finally disable the continues incident recording! I have been emailing Thinkware about this update for YEARS now. When you have subs, even on the lowest setting it CONTENTLY records events. Obviously filling up that portion of your memory card, disrupting regular recording and the ability to find stuff that should be in continues. And you can finally flip the rear image, nice!

Hi. I purchased this from Best Buy and they installed it for a charge. They hardwired it to the fuse box and tucked all the wires out of the way. It is a clean install. The two problems that I am having with this U1000 is the video is not sharp. It is supposed to be 4k, but the license plates are not sharp. My old 2014 Smsung phone takes better photos and the license plate photo is very sharp. Also can't get cloud remote view to work.

Mounting the camera there will block access to the SD card and reset button, just like my auto dealer just did last week and I'm making them re-install it under the mirror on my 2023 Blazer
I’m having an issue with the app. When I connect to the dash-cam via my iPhone I see all the continuous recordings. I click on one of the recordings and works fine. When I click on another video clip it doesn’t play. I have to disconnect and start all over again to watch another clip. Any suggestions? Thanks

Not a good idea to drain the car battery when in parking mode recording. Better to use a Cellink Neo battery to do so. When the car starts, Cellink Neo battery will get recharge. For extended parking recording like in weeks, you can add additional Cellink Neo batteries by daisy chaining to the 1st one.

I am going to install front and rear dash cams in my 2023 Odyssey Elite as well. Where did you hide the rear dash cam wire so that it doesn't impede the deployment of the side airbag?
At the front when you get to the top corner of the A pillar, route the wires behind the side airbag. The rear camera cable will run parallel to the side curtain airbag all the way to the back.
I have a 4runner and the rear window goes up and down. I obviously cant stick it on the window. Do you see a issue if I get this to putting the rear camera to the inside roof using Velcro to mount it?

I've been reviewing all the dash cams and I was just about ready to order this unit. I went to the Play Store and the software that controls this unit had horrible reviews. My question and concern would be what good is all the great Hardware if your software is not going to function properly. Does anyone have this unit or any of the company's other units and what is your experience with the functionality of the software and the hardware.
It's the free video app that is used to play the video from the app... it's fucking terrible with ads playing everytime you start/stop the video. Maybe buying the full version would eliminate that...but seriously what is Thinkware thinking???
How has it been holding up being installed on the frets(dots)? I've had my radar detector fall off when I installed it there. Is the 3M vhb good enough to keep it adhered?
Because you want the front cam to have a view as high as possible to capture everything in front of the hood. Also the wide angle view still covers several lanes of traffic without problem. As you saw on the recorded video clip, the view is fine where I mounted it.
2:50 BEWARE, CIGARETTE LIGHER CHARGE CABLE MAY NOT INCLUDED !!!!!! I watched this video and bought my first dash cam, but cannot use it immediately due to no cigarette light charge cable. The funny thing is the manual ask you to use this cable.... My model: U1000 AU 2CH_32GB_H (U4KD32) --- this one cigarette lighter cable is not included. I asked both my local retailer and Thinkware customer service, they both said cigarette lighter charge cable is not included. You need to purchase separately (AU$30 without discount) There is no packaging list in this product, so if one day Thinkware wants to cost down, they can take away some other parts (i.e. hardwire kit, sd card to usb adapter)
Not a problem at all, as long as you mean tinted glass. Aftermarket window tint (film) will cause a rainbow effect on the video if you have the CPL filters on the lenses.

The front camera can swivel up and down. It doesn't look like it, but it does. Grab the camera lens and push it up/down. That's how you adjust the angle of the camera
Running the wire under head linner, on my Odyssey 2019 too it seems glued tight. How do you simply tuck it in there? I don't want it coming lose later on. Thanks
It's not a lot of space behind the front headliner. I use a small plastic pry tool to pull down the edge a bit and tuck the wire behind it. Some spots don't have much space but as long as you get most of it in, the wire should not fall down.
Only if the engine is running OR you purchase an independent hotspot. I tried using the hotspot on my truck and found that you can’t keep it on. Thinkware told me that they’re aware that this is the case but isn’t clear in their marketing. ALSO, when they refer to “sending it to the Thinkware cloud” what they are referring to is the app on your phone. There is no actual “cloud” even though they point out that their “cloud” is free in comparison with other companies (that charge for actual cloud storage)
Even if you mount it on either side of the mirror mount, it is fine. The camera is a wide angle lens and will capture what's happening in front. As long as you are not installing it on the side of the windshield.
Making the rear camera wireless is not practical. On paper, it might sound nice, but in reality if they made the rear camera wireless, you will have to source an ignition 12v and ground connection to power the rear camera at the back of the car. The installation is much more complicated than running just 1 wire like they have it now.
Why these Korean guys from Thinkware are using the Yellow wire for the constant 12V, and the Red wire for the switched 12V? It is so wrong from electrician point of view.
It's actually from the old school days of aftermarket car stereo wiring. It remains the same to this day with yellow wire being constant 12v and red wire is ignition 12v. However I do agree this convention is odd.
Emo Teofanov should they be reversed? I typically see that practices being followed. Although VIOFO threw me off and they switched the Red to constant and yellow to accessory.
The general rule applies for all dashcams. If it has WiFi (mobile app), you don't need LCD, and if it has LCD, you don't need WiFi. You can do settings or viewing either with mobile app, or with LCD. Doesn't connect to galaxy s8+ hotspot. Phone is too, "old"..(?) The app has a 1.7/5 review. I'm using android version 9, version 8 is the camera's requirement, or higher. So...? All troubleshooting steps, 8, to be exact, including exchanging with free replacement from manufacturer. Now they're testing connectivity to hotspot on similar android at their end, if works, they'll send me that unit.. ugh. Good cam, bullshit app is my conclusion. App needs to be removed, not updated, and reintroduced with improvements. My phones hotspot works with other devices fine. Not u1000, however.

Great video but if I need wifi to make any changes this will never work. Why not link to my phone with bluetooth? This would never work for me

The voice prompt will sound each time you start it up. However you can change the volume setting to 0 or 1 in the System Settings menu. 0 is muted.

Apps on apple free download thinkware cloud, there is no advertisement free make sure firmware is updated...

The 3M double sided tape will hold very well. The key is you need to clean the surface with rubbing alcohol first.

No issue. It's a wide angle lens.
The camera does adjust, the camera swivels slightly up or down/ could be mounted to flat screen windshield if wanted

What if I can not get it centered on my wi shield due to the mirror?
Even if you mount it on either side of the mirror mount, it is fine. The camera is a wide angle lens and will capture what's happening in front. As long as you are not installing it on the side of the windshield.

Dude, you went as far as loosening the pillar. Remove it all the way and fasten the wires instead of just tucking them like some hack job.
