  • www.peplers.blo... I recorded this at the 2010 Weald Woodfair. Very impressive to see it done. It's actually quite simple, using the chainsaw to cut out quarters of the log leaving a cross shape, and then boring through to make the links. The tricky bit seemed to be hollowing out those links afterwards. It took him about an hour to complete the job.

Nice job. I've done quite a few with knife and chisel but never with a chainsaw. Hat's off to you sir.

Can't take any credit myself, I was just filming... My own chainsaw sculpture skills are much more basic! 😂

I'm afraid it's not me making the chain, just filming! I'd like to have a go at it too some day though. Just need to find a big log going spare!

+cyrus worthington Quicker and easier with a electric circular saw to cut the log into the
cross shape first then a reciprocating saw is the cheapest and safest
way to finish the log chain from then on

Loved this carving going to give it a go on a nature walkway I've been commissioned to do alongside other UK wildlife carvings

It's neat, isn't it? I've never tried it, not really had a suitable log - that's my excuse anyway! I'll stick to what I can do for now: ua-cam.com/video/3IwOig7sw6c/v-deo.html

@andrewwoodside I guess you can start with just 3 links? I've never tried it myself, but would like to have a go some time...
