Watched several of your videos. Downloaded your equipment guide. Took everything you said to heart. I went from garbage to a really nice setup. I estimate if I had found you sooner I would have saved close to $800.00 dollars on crap I bought on Amazon that didn’t work. Go Pro, key lights, ring lights, mounts, arms and cables. I could write a book on what not to do. I was about to give up when I stumbled on to you. Wow, this sounds like a commercial, but it’s not. Thank You! Not exaggerating, An answer to prayer! 🎉😊
Thank you! I'm pleased you've gotten yourself sorted. Like you I learned what to do by trying so many things that didn't.
It doesn’t look good Andrew, it looks GREAT!
The point of this Allen is to demonstrate that you can still look good without all the lights, stands and big studio, this little set up clamps to your desk and looks great, I've actually made a few little mods to it now and it actually looks better than my mine set up, which rags me off because I spent a lot of money on that when I could have done it for a fraction of the cost.
not only looks good, it looks amazing!
Thank you for putting this video together, Andrew. I didn't even know Super Clamps existed in the first place.
You bet! I love em.
Funny B-roll.. really like the ”bought alot of stuff, then threw it away” 😂.. I so felt that.. been there 😂
I’ve bought more than my share of stuff I don’t use
Thanks for this amazing video
Hi Andrew, I'm setting up my studio based on your recommendations and I'm buying the gears at the moment (i've clicked on the links so hopefully you'll get the affiliate commission). Unfortunately, the Super clamps aren't available. What alternative would you recommend? Thanks
Looks great that, Andy. Reminds me of a match anglers seatbox, Octoplus attachments and all. Superb tips as always.
Thanks bud. Yep it's pretty much the same. I do enjoy making these videos, takes a lot longer than most people think. So always nice when someone takes the time to comment.
huge respect, awesome video dude. really well made
Thank you very much for the comment
Great video!!! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Genius!!
Thank you Andy
Hahaa! I'm kind of in the same boat regarding cable management for my computer setup, good ole Amazon. I've put it off for a little over a year now and since I've got a new mic the wire mess finally got to me.
Since friends are going to ask me what I did over my Labor day weekend and I get to reply, "planned out a bunch of cable management."
Hopefully it doesn't take too much trial and error! And money.. 😂
Anyways good to see another video out from you.
I'm so cable mess OCD, nothing bothers me as much as cables that aren't perfect, glad I'm not the other one!
Great setup. My challenge is that, in my desk, there is an ultrawide monitor in front of me, with a vertical one to the left.
Realistically, if you are putting the effort to have a great video setup, you already have a pretty good overall desk setup, and a screen is an integral part of that. I'm not sure where to place the camera. If it peaks from the top of my screen, it looks like I am looking up to it, making my face look weird. If I place it to the side, I cannot look at the screen while I am in meetings.
I had the same issue, I ended up taking the monitor off the stand and fitting it to a Vesa arm to get it a few inches lower. This is why I only use 27” monitors in front of me, a camera with a 23mm lens works perfectly like this. But I have to get my monitors low to the desk
Oh and the light and soft box are not available either 😞Any recommendation would be welcome

Thanks andrew, any alternative for uk customers? I’m based in england and these are in dollars and involve some hefty shipping bills.

You had some nice ideas to present. You did not, however, say what the final cost was for the components you used in the final product (not all the things you bought and did not use just the cost of the things that went into the final setup). Also, are you aware of, (what are your thoughts about) the Viozon Selfie Live Floor Stand from Amazon for $248 and the desk mount version for $139? Best of luck with your channel. How long did it take to attract your first thousand subscribers? 😊
The cost for the stand and all the arms would run you about $140. The challenge is finding a monitor arm that is at least 39" tall and is able to support the recommended light. A lot of people go for these ring lights and it's hard to get the right look with such harsh light that's set so close. As for the subscribers, took me about 14 months and that's because I made a few mistakes content wise, if you did it right it would be easy to do it inside 6 months or even shorter. If you want to listen to anyone on how to do this and there's no lack of people offering advice, check out Ed on the Filmbooth channel.
@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thanks for the reply. Personally I have the Vioson desk mount and I'm happy with it. Of course, I've added several attachments (Ballmount, Teleprompter, Neewer 420 LED lights and soft boxes, Extension rods, Yeti X mic, etc.). CAUTION SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION AHEAD: I've been intermittently uploading since Jan 2019. I'm now ready to get serious and consistent as my retirement hobby. The channel name is The-Xamined-Life. @@TheXaminedLife My advice to you would be to check out Ed at Filmbooth, not only is he highly entertaining but I've never seen anyone with so much knowledge on how to really grow a UA-cam Channel, tell him I sent you - Ed is a great guy.
@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thanks again.
