For the record, the white spots on the Jade plant at 5:20 is actually salt deposits. I got one from my grandmas place when she passed and it had been in the same soil for a very long time, so it had a lot of these from the buildup. Was a bit hesitant to take it at first, but upon looking it up it's completely benign, it's just how the plant handles salty soil and probably contributes to why jade plants have a reputation of being extremely easy.
From my experience you can wipe the buildup of with a (moist) microfiber cloth, and lots of patience. And using rainwater instead of tapwater minimize any buildup. They do great at pon, instead of reg. potting mix, btw!
Fun doing shopping. Seeing some interesting ones. I have some plant shelves to put together - a 4 tier for my RV and a 3 tier for my itsy bitsy cottage. LOL And grow lights for them! Yah!!! I love plants. I have 3 raised beds in boxes waiting to be put together - need to fill them so they'll be ready for spring planting. Thanks much!
The florist on Surrey Street just down from the winter Gardens has lovely houseplants very reasonably priced lovely ladies in there too. Not very many options but they change the stock often and very healthy plants too. Obviously this comment is for people who live in/visit Sheffield
Watching this video felt like deja vu. I went to IKEA the day before and literally said the same thing about the fake plants. Normally I do not watch videos about stores people purchase plants from, because I felt the selection would be different, but it wasn't that much. I decided to watch, because I really like your dry humor and I wasn't disappointed. I also enjoyed how you inspected the plants; I forget and just go for looks often. As for the fake plants after seeing the selection at IKEA, I had a great idea... I'm from the tropics and missed it during the pandemic, so I brought the bush home to me. I especially love my balcony set up, but when I have to bring my plants inside, I lose my outside joy. I think I am going to get a few fake palms for the fall days that my friends and I can sit outside with a small fire pit.
That calamondin plant is a popular citrus in the philippines! it has amazing flavor profile.. i keep mine on a south facing window with a grow light. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) i have to guard my plant while my relatives are over, as they will pick some to take home😋 You're so lucky that its so affordable there, as its about $100 cdn .
So happy you got the chinese evergreen....same as that really nice pink one you liked at the greenhouse....you will love it easy care no direct light....I love the pots at the store too....I just added two more to my collection too....there are so many different colors! You will have to look some up....all easy care and all do not need high ligh....and they just grow grow grow! Happy for you!
Haworthias and gasterias are both some of my favorites...they can both tolerate lower light and need months without water....highly recommend both varieties and they come in so many shapes and sizes great little accent plants and I keep them in their pots they come in and put them at the bottoms of my bigger plants to sit and live! We have an IKEA about 2 hrs away but I have never been to one....what a nice store! Love this shopping video
Can't believe you have never been to an IKEA! It's great for picking up cheap plants. It's a shame you're two hours away from one. The one I visited has only been open a few years so before I had to travel 2 hours to one.
My IKEA is a 6-7 hour round trip, which is too much for me. Otherwise I would have brought loads of those plants 🥰 I either buy cheap sick plants from lidl or very small baby plants from our equivalent store to B&Q. Which are always very healthy but expensive.
A really nice variety of plants in there. Surprisingly they seem to be taken much better care of unlike the supermartkets I tend to visit. If I were you I'd went for that rubber plant as well. Cheers.
Last time I went to our Ikea in Hannover Germany, i saw a very tempting, huge calathea for 50€. Beautiful plant but i didn't buy it. I go for easier houseplants that make a good and robust friend. But the vibrant colors and the weavy leaves 😍 I thought of maybe buying one fake plant for our bathroom. It don't have a window/no sunlight. I don't fully like a room without a plant. Especially the bathroom. As a mom this is my recharge and calm down room, since i can go alone. Plants help with calming and recharging. Yet i don't fully like to rotate some of my plants so they get to stay in the dark room for a week. (Don't starve 🌴) Still don't know. Still in the process.
Very hit and miss! During wintertime it was almost all empty for the bigger plants and smaller plants. But yesterday was a hit! Got a aloe vera and a rubber tree!
@@SheffieldMadePlants We are about 2 hours north of Houston, in the Huntsville area :) I'm glad you liked it when you visited! We plan to visit family in England next year, and are hoping to make it a bit of a big trip and go to Italy as well!
I went to the ikea by me in Birmingham yesterday and left very disappointed, they didn’t hardly have anything .. wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to walk through the entire store to get to the houseplants last 🤦♂️
I think my ikea is cursed with the worst plant selection. So few choices and very few shelves, whereas so many of these other stores seem to be bustling with such a variety of plants! Still love ikea though 😅
Found the video where you brought the aglaonema! Definitely the same as I one I brought from the Sheffield Ikea, in fact my trip was about 2 weeks after yours! They had plants on 3 for 2 as well so technically my aglaonema was free as I picked up two of those ficus benjaminas as well!
It's a shame cos my local IKEA (Gateshead) look after their plants so bad. They are almost always over watered so badly and come with root rot. Had so many plants from there die on me but then when replacing them from other stores, those were fine. They are often infested with spider mites too. Your IKEA looks like they are better with them. I've sworn off buying from IKEA now unless I'm desperate for the plant, and it's at least 30\40% cheaper than I can get anywhere else
JUst watched this video. I have bought two agleonemas on two seperate occassions from IKEA very smilar to the one you bought and despite reading that they are very easy both eventually died. I grow alot of plants with no problems so I have no idea why they died. WOuld be interested to know how yours have grown?

Thanks for the shout out 👍
I bought a bunch of those bamboo sticks. Now I have so many.
Good reminder ikea has plans. ❤

Thanks Dawn. How come you have to bring them in during the winter? Does it get too cold for them?
@Sheffield Made Plants Yes, I live in the cold, North winds of Canada lol.
Love this video. Fun to look around with you. I love Agloneas. I have a red one.
That’s one I’m missing

I love your channel! I have a Chinese evergreen & it’s one of my favorite plants! It’s easy to care for & it’s grows like crazy!! Love it
Awesome! Thank you!

It’s looking great in my dining room. I’ll have to go back for that one at my local nursery now I know how easy they are!
I was very happy to find a string of marbles plant last time I went to Ikea. I am enjoying your videos in Ontario, Canada :)
Great find in ikea! Thanks for watching.
Your IKEA have a lot more plants than ours!

Problem with lidl is they sell like hot cakes!

Very true!

A visit to Ikea is well worth it. You’ve given me some ideas on what to purchase. Thanks 😊
You bet!
I bought the last two sad ficus ginseng from my regional Ikea, and I think I've managed to save one. The other was too far gone.
My ikea is only 15minutes away so I go often to see what they have!
Do they have a good plant section? Can be hit or miss
Very hit and miss! During wintertime it was almost all empty for the bigger plants and smaller plants. But yesterday was a hit! Got a aloe vera and a rubber tree!
So excited you got the Chinese Evergreen! I'm looking to purchase my first, I think I might start collecting!
Looks great!
This IKEA has a beautiful selection! Compared to the 2 that I can get too in Texas lol
Ooo where are you in Texas? I didn’t a little tour a few years ago and loved it

I would've bought the peperomia 😍
You make me want to go to IKEA now lol haven't been there over 2 years.
Absolutely HATE fake plants. I go on a mini rant to my wife about them everytime
😂

It’s definitely hit or miss with ikea. Traipsing through the store is so annoying when you just want to get to the plants!
They have short cut maps
@@colleen9580 even with those it’s a long way round!
Walk in through the exit. Much quicker
I think my ikea is cursed with the worst plant selection. So few choices and very few shelves, whereas so many of these other stores seem to be bustling with such a variety of plants! Still love ikea though 😅
50£ for a 60cm Euphorbia is definitely good value, I would have bought it.
You found a beautiful Aglaonema!
I think so too!

Haha that’s funny. Didn’t know there was a 3f2 on, what a bargain!
@@SheffieldMadePlants any excuse to buy more plants right?!
Calamondin!! 🤩
How do you sneak them into the house
I can't believe you don't know haworthias
Fatsia japonica isn't boring 🥲 I love all my Aralias!!
Maybe the citrus are limes
Wow super collections.... ♥♥♥
Very happy with the Aglaonema i bought 😄
My local ikea have a massive plant collection however 3 plants I bought all were root bound and 1 had root rot and sadly i lost my favourite 😭
It can be hit or miss for sure in ikea
It's a shame cos my local IKEA (Gateshead) look after their plants so bad.

Are those dorf palms ? Looks so elegant imagine one in the corner of my living room 💞 .Thanks for the tour 😊
A nice statement piece. Thanks for watching!
Heads to IKEA :)
😂 well worth a trip

It was doing great for months but I think I overwatered it and it got yellow leaves so I lost quite a few
So many of the plants are wrapped in plastic. That's too bad.
