The trouble with sir clive is that he started to believed his own pap. He could sell snow to Sibera. 'Tell them its a car and they will buy', this must have been his mantra. He wanted to run , or as seen in the QL adverts ,Leap before he could walk. Electric was the big idea, but it was something which was on the grapevine for a while , an idea biding its time waiting for battery technology. His first attempt at the electric bike , with its tiny contact motor sold, but not in the numbers he wished for, I guess he couldn't see the market. With more thought he could have been the catylyst for a whole new industry. Instead of researching and developing that idea, he went stright for number one, to produce this 'electric car'. A bit of research would have reveal the patents on the first hub motor the orginal electric bicyle circa 1880's. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_hub_motor Development of this idea would have taken sinclair in a whole new direction as one of the leaders in this early industry. Instead he invested in tools and design only to produce this non starter. Why clive , why?
Rip 🙏

It was bound to fail, but his heart was in the right place.
So we see pedelec bikes and lot's of trikes coming. Sir Sinclair was right just 40 years too early.
The problem is you're absolutely right! As we can now see. Back in 85 the public just weren't ready for Sinclair's genius vehicle!
Would you be able to post the entirety of this series? Been searching for it for a while.
Does anyone know the name of the music at 1:05

When the fuel crisis comes they'll be digging these old C5s out and restoring & customising them as emergency transport vehicles!
Biggest flop in UK history.
