Just got an explorer II black dial. Watches all your videos on the explorer II. I love this watch and your pumping me up even more to be an owner. As always great content Bruce
@@johnkaz7755 I switched back to an Explorer II, 226570 black dial. Couldn't be happier. Currently on the list for the Root Beer as a dressier watch. I would say keep the Explorer II, it's an amazing watch which has brought me tons of enjoyment.
The Explorer II 42mm is perhaps the most underrated and undervalued sports model in the lineup. Perfect watch for everyday wear and it suits my small wrist surprisingly well.
Rolex told me they can easily refurbish the bezel on the Explorer II. The orange GMT on black really "pops!" It is the best designed and most striking GMT hand that Rolex manufacture.
I can see that. I have the very same watch. Perfect for military use. Can handle magnetic fields, shocks, and water. The 3 things that will fuck up a mechanical watch. Shows time in military format too. Wear in good health.
I love how similar yet different they are. I think that they could easily live in a collection simultaneously and not be redundant. Great comparison, Bruce!
Beautiful timepieces. Of these two I prefer the tooltastic design of the Explorer 2. In the GMT category though, I am perfectly content with my Glycine Airman Base 22 GMT with quick set date, independent hour/gmt hands and 200m water resistance. I am saving my Rolex money for a Submariner 114060.
I love both, but because the GMT2 is way overpriced right now, so I opted for a preowned polar Explorer 2. This is my second Rolex. It doesn’t matter which one you get, you will just want another one.
Curious if you have any updated thoughts 3 years later and if either of these are still in the collection? Currently deciding between these two for my first Rolex and interestingly enough the price point is about the same when going Gray market, Even if the GMT is 10 to 15 years old versus a fairly new Explorer 2
Great video. I purchased a Datejust from Bob's. Great experience. About 6 months in it stopped running. Bob's handled the warranty service fantastically. I can certainly recommend them for a preowned Rolex. Top notch all the way. I'm hoping to add an Explorer 2 at some point, but I'm leaning on the Polar dial. I think both watches need to have a few love marks. They are tool watches after all. Cheers.
Bruce, I really like your videos but I have to disagree with you on something - I don't agree that a GMT Master 2 can display 3 zone times at once. It can show 12 hr and 24 hr formats of one zone if the hands are synched, or 2 different zone times if you set them independently: a 12 hr format (usually used for a local time) and a 24 hr format time of another zone which is read using the bezel. Since there is no 24 hr scale on the dial in addition to a rotating 24 hour scale (unlike some GMT watches that do include this feature - some grand seiko GMT models just as an example ) this watch would technically be limited to showing a maximum of two zone times. That is, to properly display 3 zone times, you would need independent setting of 12 and 24 hour hands, as well as two independent 24 hour scales. Join me in dispelling this myth! LOL I'm not as nerdy as I sound, but it's one of the very rare errors that Tim Mosso always repeats, so I hear it many, many times! Keep making the awesome content, and I'm here because my next watch is going to be a 216570 black dial. Cheers from Canada!
I have a option to buy one of them ... having hard time to decide as the Explorer juts looks so cool and no screams Rolex (which is positive). I think as well, the Explorer 2 will be more exclusive as pretty much everyone has a sub or a GMT ...
I dont like the gmt bezel, the numbers, the way it looks. The black dial explorer is way more beaitiful as the white dial. The white gold hands in every different light looks great.same for the brushed bezel
Bruce think you're great think Rolex is great but I'm just so over hearing about Rolex . Don't get the wrong idea you make great content an love your channel but for what I'd have to pay for a pre- owned Rolex I could have a watch that far surpasses Rolex . An it's not like most of us can just walk into are local A.D. an pick one up at retail so I'm kind of just over it .
I keep checking out the equivalent watches from omega and with a superior movement and slightly better finish and bracelet and clasp. And finally just something with a more unique look I just don’t get the price insanity from Rolex and people paying that price.
Steve K I’ve heard that said before and I just don’t buy that comparison, if that were true than no one should be able to afford a home, car, vacation, you get the idea.
GMT Master II all day, everyday. Not even a contest. And yes I have the LN and did the comparison. Forgot to tell you, Bruce. It was in competition with the Submariner. The GMT Master II won, just. Can you please do the 39mm Explorer next. Thanks in advance.
Explorer. Big and cumbersome. Larger handset make the dial look too cluttered. That GMT is better than its batman sibling for me. Subtle elegance from the "Green Arrow" Love it.👌
always hate the maxi explorer 2 should've been 40mill wtf why's it bigger then a sub it sucks get a vintage only hate those blown up hands too gosh they're ugly

From the current Rolex lineup, the 216570 Explorer II, is the only model, I‘d be willing to buy.
Same
“Buy the one you like the best”. ....best advise ever!
Used to own an Explorer II black dial, "upgraded" to the black GMT. Was much happier with the Explorer II so will probably switch back.
explorer ii > gmt
Was thinking of changing my explorer II 225670 for a black gmt. You thing its not worth it?

Great face off! Love the utilitarian look of the Explorer II but also the refined nature of your GMT Master II.

The polar is overrated.

i realize it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Thomas Reuben flixportal :D
@Julio Leo thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it!
@Thomas Reuben No problem =)
I will definitely go for the Explorer ii - amazing piece
Having both identical watches. Love both watches every moment.
In the army and wear a black face Explorer 2 everyday

Thanks brotha, I'm with you 💯

Nice review and comparison, as always.
I like both, but I’m on the list for an Explorer1🤷🏻♂️
Polished center links are not my cup of tea
E VH agree
Indeed, they are a pain! Only thing about the GMT Master II that makes me cringe.
Just brush them out like I did.
Great video. I have both (but explorer II is the polar). If I had to choose one only I’d go polar.
Same here 👌🏻

Hi bruce, do they have the exact same size for the bracelet & the clasp ? Thank you
I like Rolex and I own many but I've always thought that it is overvalued. But it's good to my collection :)
Another great video. Thanks for making them.
I much prefer the explorer 2. It’s probably my next watch
At 2:32... 42mm looks perfect on your wrist. After seeing this video, I went straight to watchrecon to look up prices. Damn you, Bruce... LOL
Love the way the hands look like they are floating on the Explorer II black dial.

Totally agree Steve, nothing wrong with some wear marks. People need to take watches off pedestals and start enjoying them

I can’t even find an AD at which I can try either of these on.
I have a option to buy one of them ... having hard time to decide as the Explorer juts looks so cool and no screams Rolex (which is positive).
I think as well, the Explorer 2 will be more exclusive as pretty much everyone has a sub or a GMT ...
Have the Polar on a Rubber B strap. Loving it...
Size aside the exp 2 is a killer watch.
The steel GMT2 seems to have gotten so much more attention since it was discontinued. It’s a beautiful watch.
Beautiful watches!
Explorer 2 looks retro and modern looks class add this watch to my rolex submariner ceramic
I'd pick the one that's more legible and with the 3187 movement. Hands down.
3187 is awesome, makes me want to try the 32 version
Going for explorer 2. Larger case 42mm and better proportion.
Expl 2 is my choice
Nice pair 😉
I had the black Exp 2 but got bored of it pretty quickly. This black GMT is a much better option and far more versatile
I dont like the gmt bezel, the numbers, the way it looks. The black dial explorer is way more beaitiful as the white dial. The white gold hands in every different light looks great.same for the brushed bezel
Explorer II ... is the winner here.
40 mm would be nicer imo
You know what: Last year I sold my Batman and bought the Polar. ;)
Explorer 2 the best rolex tool watch. Very underrated
Bruce think you're great think Rolex is great but I'm just so over hearing about Rolex . No worries Mark👍 though the Rolex content won't stop on my channel. Have some great vids planned
I keep checking out the equivalent watches from omega and with a superior movement and slightly better finish and bracelet and clasp. And finally just something with a more unique look I just don’t get the price insanity from Rolex and people paying that price.
A submariner was $120 in 1960 and should be about ten times that now.
Steve K I’ve heard that said before and I just don’t buy that comparison, if that were true than no one should be able to afford a home, car, vacation, you get the idea.
Can't beat that ceramic bezel.
Ex2 is better one
Jeezzz not more Rolex.
2 years later and the Explorer 2 is 13k and up
GMT any day... has the "x factor" as far as looks go...
GMT Master II all day, everyday. Not even a contest. And yes I have the LN and did the comparison. Forgot to tell you, Bruce. It was in competition with the Submariner. The GMT Master II won, just. Can you please do the 39mm Explorer next. Thanks in advance.
I'll see what I can do, I would love to review an explorer
Explorer. Big and cumbersome. Larger handset make the dial look too cluttered. That GMT is better than its batman sibling for me. Subtle elegance from the "Green Arrow" Love it.👌
Audio has way too much echoing
No macro shot 😭
Watch my individual reviews on each, plenty of macros on both
GMTマスターがよい。
GMT looks better no doubt
The Explorer II skipped leg day. It’s way out of proportion.
always hate the maxi explorer 2 should've been 40mill wtf why's it bigger then a sub it sucks get a vintage only
hate those blown up hands too gosh they're ugly
