I used to love the 07 Monte Carlo SS in red...had that 5.3 found in Impala, Grand Prix GXP and Buick LaCrosse Super. My grandfather had the Lacrosse Super and man was it a sleeper. That burble every time you started it up used to sound sweet. He brought it brand new from Ettleson Buick Cadillac out here in Countryside, IL. Unfortunately it had alot of issues and it needed more time in the oven. That was his last brand new car.
G-Pa knew what he wanted when he went car shopping. That Buick Lacrosse is awesome with the 5.3 V8 I currently have the Buick Lucerne, I was surprised that it had the Northstar 4.6L V8
If this response is in regard to the drag strip performance of my '07 Monte SS, here is the complete info as is printed out on the official drag strip time slip. The date was May 8, 2007 at 8:33 pm. Atco Dragway, NJ ( now closed).Reaction time was a decent .180, 60'was 2.126, 1/8th was 9.006 @78.51 mph. 1/4 mile was 13.992 @98.14 mph. Without checking the slip I posted it was 99 mph, sorry. @@damontroch4765
Only change was removal of the mini ( donut) spare tire which saved a little weight. Rest was ALL stock. Ordering the car without a sun roof and cloth seats saved weight ( and money) as well. This was at an official Drag Strip on a "test & tune" event where the track surface has NOT been specially prepped with traction compound, but the surface is better than on the street.@@AutoRevLife
I never understood why Chevy took the indicator letters off the floor shifter in the SS. It made a “budget friendly” (being generous here) straight forward interior look even more cheap and unrefined.
My new 07 Monte SS was ordered in a bright non-metallic red with factory silver Rally stripes. A gray cloth interior and no sun roof. It also had the optional highly polished alum 18 inch wheels. It was a sporty, great looking car. It was comfortable, resonably quick, had good aeros for a top speed approaching 150 mph and ran on regular gas. I respected it as did others that talked to me about it.

I bought a 2007 Monte SS brand new. Drag raced it at an official drag strip and averaged 14.0-14.1 with a single best run of 13.99 @ 99 mph.
Dream on dude

4 speeds in 2007 sheesh at least 5 speeds for such a big engine would’ve made this much better right?
100%. All of these fwd auto cars were held back by their 4 speeds.
I was digusted to find out the Malibu Maxx SS came with just a N/A V6 when I found one in a junkyard.
GM should have shipped them from the assembly plant straight to junkyards.
Great thanks
If only these were RWD. Only let down .
Very nice this Monte Carelo
They didn’t mention how the torque steer pans out on that Monte SS.😳
Torque steer was somewhat noticable, but nothing to get worried about. I never found it to be an issue.
@@stevesmith6236 it wouldn’t stop me from owning one. The four door counterpart anyway.
@@stevesmith6236 made you think you had your own race car 😝. Such a 🤡
Neither of these cars deserve respect. In fact, the Malibu Maxx SS deserves DISrespect.
