Just purchased 3 Buick GSs from a Buick collector. Real GS 340, documented with copies of original window sticker and sales agreement. #s match motor and colors. Rare car, actually none of us here were even familiar with it. The red stripes, scoops and rally wheels are part of the package. All GS 340s were silver or white.
EXTERIOR: Show quality for sure. Has really clean straight body. No signs of rust or damage. Painted the factory color Platinum mist color. Metal flake is laid out evenly and have a very glossy clear coat finish. It looks wet. The red stripes and scoops are correct for this model. The chrome in trim is exceptionally nice on this car. Upfront the bumper is replated. The grill is very, very nice original? The chrome scoops on the hood are new. Has dual mirrors, remote on the driver's side. In back the bumper was rechromed, tail lights and tail panel is really nice. All the stainless trim is polished. Glass is excellent. Door jambs are painted and clear coated. Weather strips and window seals have been replaced. Has the correct rally wheels painted red like they're supposed to be with Buick center caps and new BFG tires.
INTERIOR: Really in excellent shape inside. The upholstery is new front and back. Door panels and armrests have been replaced. Dash pad looks new. The instrument panel is excellent- gloss paint, sparkly chrome, clear lenses. Has original AM radio but there is a stereo neatly hidden in the glove box. There are upgraded speakers in place of the original. Has a deluxe steering wheel. There is an aftermarket tachometer. Up above it has a new headliner, visors and mirror. On the floor it has new carpet and sill plates. The four speed has correct boot and reverse lockout handle with chrome ball.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 340 motor. New valve seats 1,500 miles ago. New wiring harness, radiator and heater core. Rebuilt alternator and upgraded Pertronix ignition. New correct reproduction pie pan air cleaner. Correct Carter carb with electric choke. Tampa Bay rebuilt 4 barrel with electric choke. The motor itself is detailed. The engine bay is all smooth clean metal done in satin black. The jamb and bottom of the hood is gloss silver, has hood insulation. Has fan shroud, washer bottle, rubber splash shields. Features power steering and a new power brake system with cadmium plated booster.

I had one that I drove from NY to California for 3 yrs in USAF at Travis AFB and then drove it back to NY for 4 yrs of college. Mine was white and strangely had just a red pinstripe down the side instead of the wide red band at the bottom. Haven't seen even even a picture of another one like that but I sure would like to of anybody knows where one is. Unfortunately my old pictures were kept by the ex-wife and haven't spoken for 30 yes.
Was a great car, never failed me, I really miss it. I didn't know they were so rare at the time.
The 340GS all had that paint and only came in Silver or White. They were a little like the CAGS cars but the CALIFORNIA GS you could get in any color.
@@thomasthurston6656 yes, every GS 340 that I've seen online that was white had a broad red strip at the bottom. That's why mine is such a mystery to me. Mine was white with red hood scoops and all but it didn't have the broad red stripe at the bottom. Doubtful that it was one of the California cars as I bought it at a small car dealership in upstate NY. I bought it used in December 1968. I suppose it could have been repainted in it's first year of life but I never had any indication it was in an accident. Still hoping I can get some pictures of it from my ex-wife so I can post them on here.
@@garylee2731 Could have been a SPO. Most of the time the trim tag would have a * for special paint. The GSCA cars were sold in Hollywood CA and had CALIFORNIA badges on the quarters.
@@thomasthurston6656 thanks, guess I'll have to go with the SPO theory since nothing else explains it. Only car I've ever had that has special sentimental value to me
I had one, the HP numbers are underrated, and the throttle response with the Carter carb is what gets you.
The most beautiful muscle car I've ever seen 😍
Back in 69 my buddy had one same color same engine. Really nice car.wasn't a very reliable off road car. We went end over end "3" times. Sheared off passenger side on telephone po!e.poppy we retrieved one hub cap. He cried a lot😄
My buddy had one. We flipped it end to end three times. Still got a scar from my first accident. Damn that was a nice car.
YIKES! Sounds scary.
That is a VERY RARE CAR, I HAD ONE LIKE IT, THE "SPECIAL" model. 340 2 speed, however myn was a rust bucket
Special had different trim. They made a W1 GS trim package on the Special.
I don't care for a 340, but I love the color of thus car.
Had 67rs 340/3sp gutless!!
GS340 made on the Special frame came with the base Special interior. 340 had 260 hp and most were a 2 sped ST300 trans with the switch pitch converter.
Myn was the two speed
those documents show automatic trans
They never made a 340 with a stick. They all had the 2 speed Super Turbine with the switch pitch converter.
Nice, haven’t seen one since the early 1980’s
I wouldn't get too worked up over the Rally rims. GM is notorious for stealing from one product line (Chevrolet) to supply another (in this case, Buick). It's one of the things that has driven the company down over the last 20-30 years. Those rims look perfect, and I wish I had the money to give ya for the car. :)
I remember when people were buying upscale Buicks and Oldsmobiles and finding out it had a general purpose Chevy engine in it.
Nice car 🚗
There is rarely alot of information on Buicks, at least accurate information anyway.
My FIRST car was like this , however myn was very rusted out , myn was the green / green
Woo looking good man woo
Buick always built the best sleepers!!! I had a 73 Regal that had a Buick factory 350...I would run with every mustang GT in the 80's!!
You must mean top end!
@@jimmielove5484 Not only, hard to believe I know but it would run scat off the line!!
Buicks were ALWAYS dangerous to pull up next to &. Try to RACE!!!
They were always well maintained & the FASTEST !!!
