    Rachael, I am utterly stunned at what you are going through. This July will be 38 years that I began my internship year in Family Medicine and I remember how hard those years were (36 hrs straight etc…) 3 weeks straight with only one day off is draconian. I thought that kind of stuff had been outlawed. What a horrible and cruel process to train our new health care providers. I am so sorry that our health care training system is still such a mess. It is no wonder why so many are leaving medicine altogether!! Hundreds of thousands dollars in debt to get abused in training and then get bullied by the greedy healthcare insurance industry when in practice😢

    My PCP just left our practice due to wanting to give adequate patient care. She actually spent time. I went to her for depression and anxiety due to extreme grief, after my husband, my mother and my best friend all died within 18 months, She never rushed me and was so thorough. She also figured out and solved two medical issues I had been having for 15+ years, about which no other doctor even listened or tried to figure out. She kept getting scolded and warned for taking too long with patients, and finally she chose to leave rather than give rushed and incompetent care. So sad.

    I really love when Rachel says a thought/feeling and then explains her reasoning. It’s so insightful to see how another brain works. I totally understood what she was saying about the pretzels/exercise. Awareness is our most helpful tool, and I thank her for being honest about that. I feel like I’m the only one with those kinds of thoughts and I’m now realizing more people than I know probably think the same way. Thanks for continuing to post these Rachel, we are your biggest internet fans 🎉

    I’m in my nurse residency program & although it’s not anywhere near being a doctor or working 3 straight weeks in a row! I feel her pain tremendously, most days after work I cry, I cry in random places, like the nail salon bathroom, while in line at target, even at the gym 😂. Healthcare is draining & the transition from being in school to actual work is tough. The hours are long, you feel like you never have time & you’re constantly being challenged, some days are good at the hospital but many are exhausting& stressful. I love caring for people & I enjoy being an RN but the mental & physical toll it takes on our bodies needs to be discussed. Thank you Doctor Rachel, you have helped me so much in the past month with my mental health. Your videos are raw & they showcase how many feel at the beginning of their healthcare journey. Thank you 🤍God bless you 🙏🏻

    Medicine in general is so exhausting. I’m a PA in derm, I have patients I get close to over time and delivering them bad news is so hard. Thank you for opening the public’s eyes about how hard this career is. It’s not about scrubs, cute hairstyles and nails. There’s so much emotional baggage that we deal with always.

    • @coolscience622
      @coolscience622 Місяць тому +9

      I’m sorry but a PA saying derm is hard is so absurd (or maybe not, since PAs don’t have to training anywhere close to an actual physician). Dermatology is comparatively one of the least stressful specialities in the field of medicine with no major emergencies or calls. Plus actual doctors have way more training and maybe that’s why as a PA where you can practically switch specialities anytime finds it “hard” due to lack of adequate training but still getting to play doctor. It’s not your fault. Unfortunately the system is such that they came up with PA school, and with that option with easy way out, less training, still getting great pay and getting to play doctor, who wouldn’t take it right? Coming to dressing cute, most PAs dress better than doctors because they happen to have good amount of spare time on hand, while doctors are working hard around the clock in scrubs, no time for any of that.

What made you work so hard every week, keep up with the weekly/ daily workload , embrace the Suck and not give up ? How did you deal with days where didn’t want to do anything but still got yourself to do it? Did you ever feel like everybody else was better then you and you had to work a lot harder than them ?
