Those came later and they were given to a paramilitary group called fedayeen they were bunch of fanatics and uday Hussein was in charge of them hence why the weird choice of helmet
Hello, I really appreciate that there is a video showing the Iraqi uniforms from the 80s to the 2000s, I will make a iraqi soldier cosplay and I needed a video like this, Thank you very much
@@thelostcosmonaut5555I'm with you there. Can I not like militaria from X time and nation because I wasn't in said army at X time? Guess I better not collect any more old ass rifles from wars a hundred fucking years ago or longer.
The Ft Sam Houston military medical museum had an Iraqi helmet in their collection. If I'm not mistaken, it had imstructions on how to tie a triangle bandage for an injured arm on the inside of it. Makes you wonder about the quality of their medics if they needed instructions for something so simple.
@@SonOfTheDawn515 no I missed the Iraq war by a few years. I enlisted as a 68w and all the combat medic hopefuls get a tour of the museum before AIT starts. I highly recommend it.
Iraq has vegetated areas around where Kurdistan or Iraqi Kurdistan is. Given that it's mostly worn by elite troops, they probably were focused on encountering Kurdish rebels in that area. Also about the Korean M80 helmet, it is not uncommon for "ballistic" helmets in the 90s to be made of nylon as a lot of countries are experimenting to replace steel. The British Mk.6 helmet that the British wore is also made of nylon.
Brilliant video. And a nice touch adding in the picture ls for demonstrations. Could you do a iraqi army weapons breakdown next ? Also side note. South Korea supplied iraq their version of the m1 helmet to iraq like everyone else who was supplying iraq in the 80s even the Americans before the 1991 first gulf war and implementation of crushing sanctions after.
The woodland uniform for Iraq actually makes more sense when you take into account the marshlands of the south and the mountainous regions of the North. As well, Iran, who we know Iraq definitely fought, has very lush forest lands around the Caspian (This region was historically part of ancient Media and might've inspired the Hanging Gardens of Babylon), and Khuzestan, where a lot of the Iran-Iraq war took place, has pretty green marshlands. I imagine the uniforms could also work in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia or Syria if Saddam ever decided to invade one of those lol
us military woodland mop suits plus iraqi camo in a desert who knew also the reason south korea gave them to iraq was because it was the 70s when we all had better relations with them
Iraqi paratroopers used really cool Polish wz. 63 helmet !
There's lots of wooded/swampy areas in Southern Iraq/Iran which is where they did a lot of fighting, so woodland camo makes sense
Iraqimaxxing
He forgot to talk about the Darth Vader helmets.

Because he is only mentioning the Iraqi army. If we was to talk about the fedayeen saddam then yes those helmets should be shown.
I still have one of those woodland camo shirts, a beret, gas mask w/case, and web gear I brought back from the Gulf War

Amazing to see that you've sourced an Iraqi veteran who fought in the 2003 invasion to do this presentation Krus.
Wait, is that a dig on him being a civvie that never served? If so, I want in on the fun! Coward civilians that obsess over militaria is so pathetic.
@infantryski11b64 that's such a boot thing to say. I was a medic and enjoy militaria with my non veteran friends. Idk what the issue is here.
@@infantryski11b64 I disagree. The stuff is neat and the items tie themselves to events and times in history.

@@SonOfTheDawn515 guess I gotta get rid of my alpenflage kit since I wasn't in the Swiss military in the 80s before I was born. Damn.

Have you ever been over there? It becomes really apparent when you deal with their average soldier.

I have a battlefield pick up iraqi feild jacket and a wool uniform (looks just like a British 1902 pattern)
Unfortunately my BFPUs disappeared over the years.

They were still using a mix of helmets in 2006-2007. Found it interesting one was wearing an Israeli helmet given they hate the Israelis so much.
Abu ghraib kit vid when
zogbot kit
very cool, can't wait for you to show the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction
Like the nerve agents we (the US) sold them after we seized them from Nazi stockpiles? Or the other chemical agents we found in 2007 when I was there?
