I'm a recovering addict and what I can say as cliché as it may sound. It all begins with you. Personally drugs gave me wings but took away my sky.

Thank you for this comment. One of my older brothers is a drug addict and we tried everything under the sun to get him help, heck I even studied psychology in university in order for me to be able to help him. Unfortunately all our attempts at helping him were in vain as he stated he did not want to quit his habits. Right then and there I finally understood what all the mental health professionals have been telling us... HE has to be the one that wants to make the change and seek help. It is sad to see but you cant save someone who does not want to be saved.

Exactly the thing about can't go without out is and alosta being so bad, I was injecting 6xR50 bags back in 2014 moring, afternoon and evening and yes withdraws is not nice, got locked up I HAD NO WITHDRAWALS because my mind nee there was no way to get only withdraw I got I could not sleep, a whole months if *was lucky I would dozer off 5min but that 5min would recharge me totally.
Used again when I got released but that was when I realised it is a choice and mental decision, 2 years later I got to the point where I had enouth and stopped.
Life has to change if you were a real addict hanging around friends using is a trigger waiting to happen, just bad news or life happens at the wrong time and relapse will happen

@@nombusosobahle5109 no addict will stop if it's not for themselves, they will stop for people but just to please and carry on again, if the decision to stop is not from the person it won't last and SADLY only rock bottom can have that impact, but sadly if a person has always had a hard life rock bottom is just life but for someone who had a life, job ext it usually helps IF THEY STRUGGLE ALOT OR END UP IN JAIL but then again by then only thing that will satisfy them never getting work is getting forgetting wich is something heroin is so capable of giving

I still remember when someone closest to my heart said I don't hate you but hate your addiction before she left , can't blame her because when I kept repeating the same mistakes until it became a habit, always putting drugs as my 1st priority, hurting the closest, most caring people in my life and ending up pushing them away. After using for 18 years I finally gave up in 2020,I am still trying to catch up with my lost life coz it's better late than never and to anyone struggling out there plz remember
Life doesn't get better by chance but by change.

And it was you own choices that create the problem you were not a victim, it was you making teh choice to stop. I was a dealer 4 years, injected heroin 20 something years, was on meth for 5 years and once I stoped believe the bullshit about always being an addict and being a victim I made a choice a stopped.

Drugs are a slow killing demon that has infested our communities in SA. Drugs have torn the trust and love among families. I am talking from my personal experience. My brother is a UJ graduate with a qualification in Law, but his life has been taken over by drugs. He voluntary left his job last year. He has literally wiped our parent's house clean, he has sold almost everything metal in the house and around the yard😞. We have tried seeking help(rehab) for him & he signed himself out. Kubuhlungu guys😭😭 to see your loved one being wasted away, but I hope for better days to come in our country. Praying for all these social ills to be a thing of the past in our communities.

If you live in South Africa, you will have experienced how infrastructure has crumbled due to zero maintenance.
There's no longer a suburban public railway system running from city to smaller adjacent cities.
There's no postal system and the post office buildings are in ruins, homes to the outcasts of society.
There is only the pretense of law and order.
New privatised projects like the bullet train on the Rand are plagued by overnight vandalism where any kind of high-tech material (fiber-optic cables, metals) is spirited away in the dark.
Drunk driving is so prevalent and commonplace as to make freeways a gauntlet of death.
The power grid, after years of neglect, is barely functional. It will need re-building from scratch, there's no repairing it.
And now, without electricity, the public water system is collapsing impacting fresh water supply AND sewerage systems.
It's only a question of time before typhoid trumps AIDS.
      And why?
Government. Rather, the absence of governance.
The ANC Government positioned in high office the most inept, incompetant and morally ignorant cadre of Ministers and Administrators. Their sole expertese was/is to distill corruption down to its most profound virulence.
It is these officials who, in short order, emptied state coffers and appropriated public funds.
Either through quasi-improvement programs, railway acquisitions or simply bald-faced theft, the government exacted wholescale graft draining the financial lifeblood of the economy.
One has only to look at Zuma's leadership to see in magnificent display, personal enrichment and absolute defiant corruption.
The goverment has done everything it can to endanger and jeopardize the future of ALL South Africans, not just those who struggle with addiction.

When I watched this video I was not worried about parents teaching their kids to stay out of drugs as they don't have control.
My worry is that these drug distributors are Nigerians, government (Ramaphosa and Malema) protects them at all costs.
Why can't they be sent to their country as they don't have papers, and also the law which always get prisoners on parole is insane.
I truly lost hope to our black officials such as Ramaphosa, Malema, Bheki Cele and etc.
Although I never wanted DA to lead, it seems like we need them as black people don't care at all.
It's now evidence that any development of a country needs a white skin and gold hair.
How come the government ignore Hillbrow, Sunnyside, and etc.

This is a pandemic and the sooner our government realizes this the better for all. The trauma of having a drug addict in the family cannot be compared to anything. They still almost everything and as much as you try to be sympathetic, you are also emotionally and financially drained. This is our future but I bet our government prefer them like this because they want to be in parliament until they collapse and die there instead of empowering our youth, getting them rehabilitated and create jobs for them. Most CBDs are infested with these kids and maybe they should move to malls so our government can intervene.
