    I really love silk clothing and buy as much as I can afford. I find it really easy to care for, too, I just don’t wear it if I’m going to be cooking pasta sauce, etc. It’s so resilient, it never gets crumpled or picks up odors and it doesn’t need frequent washing (here in California that’s important, we’re in the most severe drought ever and have to re-use every drop of water). It’s greatest advantage is of course, its year-round comfort, I just can’t tolerate synthetic fibers. It’s great for travel, too, especially in its knitted versions. The only problem, besides high cost, is that the selection of silk clothing is so limited since the proliferation of polyester, even in high-end brands. Also, stains can be difficult to remove, or even impossible (I take them to the dry cleaner, they can usually do it). I recently bought an Eileen Fisher blouse at Nordstrom, then when I got it home and was going to cut the tag, I noticed the label said it was 100% polyester! Back it went, but I was so shocked that even this brand was selling out.

      Knitted silk is probably my personal favourite, as with a toddler, it's so much more practical for me as it's easy to launder. That or washable silk sits high on my list. I know what you mean re stains. Once I got a stain on a white silk Equipment shirt, and I really didn't know how to properly care for silk at the time. I ended up (sadly) destroying it. Learnt my lesson, and now take a lot more care when wearing silk not to get it dirty!

      You'll have to let me know how you get on with that! Personally I really love those warm tones - plus adding in extra little style details/flourishes with the items I already own. Adding a brooch (for a closure etc) is also quite a fun little style detail too xx

    Love this! 🥰💖 Thank you Jamie! Yes, one or a few items for each video is a great idea! You're so good at this. Loved the creative twist on each classic or traditional piece. Didn't know your exact position at Discovery. Was just looking up online what a publicist is! 🤣🤣🤣 Talk about timing! I was looking in the context of book publishing though. Would it be very different from what you were doing? Hope you and yours are doing well! Is there an end in sight to the lockdown? Hope so, and sending mega hugs! And enjoy your day by yourself tomorrow!💖💖💖

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Natalya! So glad you enjoyed :D Being a publicist for a TV network would be fairly similar, just a different "type" of medium being promoted. We did press junkets with journalists, TV/radio/magazine interviews and the like. Is this for your book? One I'll never forget was for a local show on Animal Planet. I went out to the host's property with a journalist - a wildlife sanctuary with 3000+ animals (including many that were endangered). He cared for animals in a way I've never seen before, often nursing them to health in his own home. He had birds, and wallabies in his living room, and a penguin in his bath tub! Safe to say it was a very memorable experience - both for myself and the journalist. As for lockdown, it's been extended another four weeks to the end of August. I suspect even then that we'll be home much longer than that. Thank goodness we have a front and back yard. Aww =- no days to myself right now. We've stopped sending our son to daycare as it's just not safe to do so :/ Hope you had a lovely weekend, and a great week ahead!

    Love this!! 😍 I really want to have a small and streamlined dress capsule that will stop me from needing to shop for each event & will cover me for (when we can finally leave the house again) formal work events, races/garden parties/more formal birthdays/engagements, and also weddings. Just 3-4 dresses that will do all that with just a change of shoes, accessories etc… I need inspiration… can you help?? TIA 😊

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the delayed response Corey! It's hard isn't it, especially if you like variety and also, the frequency with which you go out. For me, I rarely have any special occasions, so have a handful of dresses I've "collected" over the years which I'll rotate through when the occasion arises. It's also something that would be so personal. As a safe all rounder, I do love silky slip dresses - they can be worn multiple ways too, and casually :)

    Are you still rocking your black Proenza Schouler PS11 bag? Recently discovered the design house and loving some of their pieces and just purchased the ps11 in grey textured leather during their sale. It is stunning but is definitely an autumn/ winter piece.

    I would love recommendations for silk clothing brands that are available here in the US, thanks! The selection is so very limited. I’ve been looking everywhere for a light-green, mint shade, but it’s not currently offered anywhere, only the dark olive/khaki color.

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  3 роки тому

      The places that immediately would come to mind, would be: Lilysilk, Everlane, Quince. Perhaps J Crew. Nordstrom? Equipment probably do a minty colour (or you might be able to find one pre loved) but they are more expensive x

    I’ve stopped buying woven cotton items from H&M, this fabric so cheap that it’s just impossible to iron. It has to be ironed in small sections, allowing each to dry, but still re-wrinkles when ironing the next section. It’s both thin and rough, and always too see-through. All the seams pucker like crazy, even from just steaming. In general, I like H&M, but this is the worst fabric they make, after the synthetics. Even cheaper Amazon cotton shirting is far superior.

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  3 роки тому

      I know you've mentioned this before - I realised as I was going through my drawers I actually have a cotton shirt from H&M, but it's a light, almost gauzey (but not) rendition. It's so lovely, I just don't wear it often as it's blue. H&M is definitely hit or miss, but I think as far as the high street goes, its the one I've had most success with. Also like that they've got some conscious collections and are using recycled materials :)
