I just found this channel for the first time, and I enjoyed the video. Now, if you'll pardon me, I'm going to go poke around in other videos on the channel.
My God, core memories unlocked. Though I've never truly forgotten this game, I loved playing it as a kid, but it has been far too long since I've thought about it, the sounds, the music, it takes me back.
Man, this seems like a cool game for its time! Tedious menu stuff, but if you’re an old school gamer, you gotta channel that old school patience. Great production values and editing as always, enjoyable!
I've always heard good things about this. The constant menus would turn me off. Reminds me of how Holy Diver played. Constant spell switching. Good review my dude!
I can add that to the list!! What's your favorite? I usually do the first in a series, but if Crash Bandicoot taught me anything it's that sometimes the sequel is better :)
@@SayItIsntJoe Absolutely start with the first. They also made a remake for the first one for Game Boy Advanced that added in some new content and gave everything that GBA aesthetic, kind of killed the soundtrack tho.
Crystalis proved that SNK had a good variety of games. Until they went all in with the 100 Mega Shock Series. Also cool Japanese name: God Slayer Haruka Tenkū no Sonata.
In my mind this is actually part of the Mana series, and there are only 3 games in it. Crystalis > Secret of Mana > Chrono Trigger (in chronological order). Hero with a holy sword? check. Evil empire? check. 4heavenly kings/generals? check. Magic and technology? check. Flying fortress of doom? check. It just isn't the same without some combination of the above tropes. This is why other Mana games tend to miss the mark in terms of nostalgia.
Dude all that stuff u said so wasn't true especially on my end and people I knew back in the 90s. Who didn't know about Crystalis. This game surely wasn't held back by the NES.
I mean, it's always just my opinion on stuff, and I might not always be right. I just think with all the work that went into the story and how much it seemed like SNK wanted the game to be, the mechanics limited by two buttons and the graphics glitches made that hard to pull off. It's still a great game, I just think it would be even better on a newer platform.
I think to get it where they actually wanted the game to be. Releasing it on the SNES may have been good for this game. I could see the game taking full advantage of the hardware.
@packpock4369 oh yeah, I think the snes could have done a much better job hardware wise. And you can tell the dev company wanted the legroom, but I don't think the platform limits it enough to make it a bad game by any measure. Just lots more potential
One of my favorites from childhood, and somehow I missed this upload when you posted it. I'll watch it 5 times now
Haha no worries!! Just like the game, I'll always be here
It was a good game. It had a great plot. This game would be number 1 on my remake list

Haha you're welcome to! Hope you enjoy 😃
can't have enough "feel good" retro channels in this mad clown decade. Very watchable channel
@@TheSecretWorldRules thank you so much!!

Great review! This deserves more views. Subscribed.
Aww thanks!! Glad you enjoyed

That's how I felt when I picked it up. First thing I said when I saw the title was "ohh YEAH! I forgot about this one!"

Thanks guys!! Yeah a bad menu situation doesn't make for a bad game, this one's worth a play for sure

Thanks man! Yeah the menu thing was there in Demon's Crest too, it's not terrible but it does get to you after a bit. Still a fun play!
One of those games I always saw but never played back then, wish I had given it a shot now!
This was my first RPG, and probably my first time grinding in a game. You should do a video of Shining Force 1 or 2 on Sega.

I now have the sword of wind.
That's a hell of a start!!
Crystalis, not Chrysalis. Right? 😅
Haha I had to pick a way to say it way back when I was a kid, and I stuck with it 🤣
@@SayItIsntJoe Why would you pick a way of saying it thats a different word? 😂
@@arostwocents I never said I was a *smart* guy, I just really like old video games lol
@@SayItIsntJoe same here.

At the time of viewing cart only is only $22. I will bill you soon. Thanks Joe.
You can thank me later :)
This game on the SNES or genesis would be mint
Have you played it before?
