The Routemaster will go down in History as possibly as one of the best urban bus designs ever. Everything in it was utilitarian, designed to last and for the comfort of passengers and ease of operation and maintenance. A Masterpiece.
I'm sorry I disagree. Far from utilitarian it was quality, designed for overhaul and maintenance and the duty cycle of London. Compare it say to the AEC East Kent Regent 5, built by park Royal about the same time, altho I like them they are utilitarian!!! Look which lasted in service the longest by a long way - the RM family.....

I know and the thing is , I was not going to film because of it . But a friend is on holiday and he missed this even and I thought he might get more of an idea what it was like through a video. and he can watch it at home as well.Thanks for comment ..........Ian.
If I remember rightly the closed window on the early buses was not liked because in summer time it was a bit stuffy upstairs, don't forget smoking was also allowed on the upper deck
