Strength seems to be like the deciding factor. Every build that was majorly effected requires strength. Those playshot builds don’t have strength but it’s going to HOPEFULLY show this year.
Agreed. I don’t think the ACTUAL stat matters too much more than it already has, but the fact that some of these new badges like “big driver” require a certain level of strength and even a lot of defensive badges requiring it now will make a huge difference
@DEADTXWNnot this year, you need strength to get a lot of badges. Can’t wait to see you 6’9 cheesers fold when you can’t speed boost and have no strength for big driver or defensive badges
Hank, remember that in 2k24 the badges are difficult to get and the animations too, the attributes might be similar to 2k23 but in 2k23 you could get all the playmaking badges in hof with those attributes but in 24 it’s not the case, also in 24 you need to have a decent amount of acceleration, speed and speed with ball to have the speedbosting badge at least on gold, whoever in 23 you only needed to have a 75 speed with ball and a 89 ball handling for the quick first step badge HOF. Conclusion: the builder on 24 is strict for all positions.
Great vid. I don’t think 2k wants little builds to takeover; I think they wanted to just tone down the amount of big builds who could do everything. It was really unfortunate that the 6’9 build was so overpowered bc even as a center a 6’9 with high 80s block could contest you. Now, if you want to go taller as a guard or even SF, then it’s going to cost.
Exactly like it should be. Size is the #1 most important thing, so it makes perfect sense that undersized builds should be able to get extra attributes in comparison to make up for it
So I did a very similar build comparison between 24 and 23 with a KD Build and from my perspective it just seems that having defense is weighted WAY MORE on 24. So I do not think it’s because they are small guards that they have the same build on both games. But it’s the fact that they have no defense which is weighted differently.
Right and I don't understand how that makes the game more balanced! They're turning this into a non defensive game again 😂 we all know non defensive 2ks are the most trash
@@StrictCurlChamp I feel like it’s basically 2K saying you either specialize on Offense or Defense. I’m not sure if that’s them exactly favoring offense over defense tho.

I've been playing around doing this exact experiment. Test out some of the new NBA templates and it's a different story. Interestingly when I used the Joker nba template from 24, I was maxed out at 99 before I could even begin upgrading the physicals in the 23 builder. So my hypothesis is that because high level stats (eg 90+) get expensive, you cant make an all round OP goat build. But if you make a 75 to 85 in everything type of build, with the way the badges are all equipped together and stacking, those could be a new meta. Not goated at anything, but can do everything at a solid if not good rate.
It means that defense and strength contribute more to your overall then it used to. Doesnt necessarily mean its a nerf. As long as the payout from actual gameplay makes it worth it, it theoretically should even out.
That and people don’t realize that the people making these builds are gonna be in team pro am and team rec. they’re not taking these little guard builds to the park for 2’s, maybe 3’s. But if your team knows they’re the weak link on defense I’d be attacking them every play.
I think the difference will be the animation caps you going to need a high speed with ball this year for dribble style a lot of people going to mess they build up
I’ve been telling people this for the last 2 years… I noticed it in NBA2K21 NBA2K devs trick the community into believing they have full control over their players by taking away more and more attribute points and adding more and more badges into the game… I noticed a 99 wasn’t a real 99 back in NBA2K19 but what I really started noticing was… In NBA2K22 a 99 3 pointer put your player’s overall high as heck! I then came up with the theory that 2K developers trick their own community by adding more and more new badges into the game and decreasing the overall attribute points we get… All the while raising the prices of vc each and every year… It’s a full on scam
Fantastic video my guy. I myself was surprised at how high some of these guard builds were in stats and have long been wanting that the bigger size builds get an attribute penalty since they got size on their side. Great detective work!
No even if the little guards get the same attributes they have different badges. 92 3 only gets you silver limitless. The playmaking badges all drop down a tier or two from 23 to 24. Look at it a little deeper next time

I like that the attributes stayed the same. The only thing they really needed to do was implement badge requirements better, which they seemed to do. 6’9 players can’t speed boost now. And you also need to actually give them strength to get big driver or any good defensive badges. Trust me, it’s not the same this year
From hind sight it looks like small guards are “Demi’s” like in 2k23 but they’re not. Badge requirements are higher but also 2k24 is based around strength and finishing from what it looks like, and no small guard will be able to get fluke stops on defense like last year. We’ll be even more of a liability on one end of the court.
Great vid identifying a possible meta. I like the restrictions but I wouldn’t use phrases like balanced and strict. Call it what it is… less attributes for more VC.
I do agree that 2K nerfed the builder to make small guards appear to be better, BUT you didn’t use the type of builds I was waiting on which we know you can’t recreate which are the glitchy Pro-Am builds.
