To be fair, he is using the reverse stem on a shorter travel single crown fork while most of the riders racing are using a long travel double crown fork. I'd really like to see the stack height numbers difference between a shorter single crown fork with the reverse stem and a longer travel double crown fork with standard stem. Perhaps the stack height numbers are not much more different than a bike with a long travel double crown fork. It is a odd and extreme looking stem though.
Ha! I used to race DH there waaaay back, probably around 1996 or 1997? The organizers and guys working the race were always so cool - really good guys who wanted everyone to have a great day of racing XC or DH. IN FACT, the last time I raced DH there, I also did the XC race beforehand (there was a really great deal if you raced both) and I got passed by no other than Tinker Juarez on the XC course -- the dude absolutely killed the big climb in his big chain ring -- beast style!

I enjoyed racing DH there for a couple of seasons. Great venue and really nice people. It was an amazing experience. They medal 5 deep so I was able to podium in 4th place Sport class a few times but wasn’t that fast lol.

I know him his name is Tony aka Big Rod haha
Never seen so many DVO forks.
Also loving the trackside hype man! 3:11 It's incredible how people like him can push you

I’d like to see that Raised Reverse stem stacked up on top of a dual crown fork!
I still believe for everybody over 6.4" or 197cm this could be a game changer
Ahhh yes, Fontana, the official start of the DH racing season, gotta love it ☺️

The hike up from the shuttle drop off to start point is no joke!
The long stem on the trek slash……
What the hell was that thing? Looks like a stem with huge stack and no length? Really strange
