      @@skmcee7863 Well, first of all, "bro Peter" isn't actually a brother, because that would require him to be recognized by a religious community and be under obedience to a superior. If he was a religous superior that would require him to be under obedience to the Holy See, or the Local Ordinary. He has none of these. He isn't recognized by any religious superior, and he isn't under obedience to the local ordianary, all of which would be required for him to be religously professed.

      @MilitantThomist  Рік тому +15

      @@MyOrder66 Totally get that, I as well have had my private struggles, but, I think its valid to reduce the object of the infallibility of canonizations to them having the beatific vision, and not necessarily to other marks that SHOULD be present in a canonization.

      @MyOrder66 Рік тому +1

      @@MilitantThomist that could be an explanation, but is there any traditional ground to separating in a canonization process being in heaven (infaillible) and having displayed heroic virtues (non-infaillible)? It would still mean that some canonizations can be scandalous because of the unworthiness of the recipient (albeit in heaven).

    • @MilitantThomist
      @MilitantThomist  Рік тому +10

      @@MyOrder66 Traditionally, it wasn't treated. For example, The Catholic Encyclopedia states "What is the object of this infallible judgment of the pope? Does he define that the person canonized is in heaven or only that he has practiced Christian virtues in an heroic degree? I have never seen this question discussed; my own opinion is that nothing else is defined than that the person canonized is in heaven."
