The most natural reading of scriptures is that Jesus was the firstborn of Mary and that she had other children later. There is no reason to think that such would not be the case. Other suggestions came much later, long after the apostles and the apostolic fathers had passed. It is to the Lord Jesus that we look for all things pertaining to salvation and in him do we trust. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, amen.

This debate was just confusing. The topic of this debate was: "The Bible Teaches Catholic Authority, not Sola Scriptura." Voice of Reason have to proof this point. Instead, Voice of Reason started and Dr. White most of the time had to defend Sola Scriptura. If the Bible really confirms Roman authority, why are the Church Fathers, councils or other secondary topics constantly being discussed? The discussion has simply missed the point. It is simply embarrassing how rome fanboys get excited about this discussion as if the whole of Protestantism has been argued to the ground on the basis of Scripture. The Bible provides enough evidence that Rome is not a church in the sense of God's word. Let's just take the “sinlessness of Mary.” Let's take a look at what the Bible actually says: In his letter to the Romans, Paul clearly states that no man is righteous. In Romans 3:10-12 (ESV) he writes: “As it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” These words make it unmistakably clear that all people are sinful, without exception. This also includes Mary, who, according to Catholic dogma, is supposed to have been spared from original sin. However, this dogma is in direct contradiction to Holy Scripture, which emphasizes that no human being, including Mary, is without sin. Paul goes even further in Romans 3:23 (ESV) and says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Here, too, it is emphasized that all have sinned. When Paul speaks of “all”, there are no exceptions - not even for Mary. The idea that Mary was without sin directly contradicts this fundamental biblical teaching. Paul continues in Romans 5:12 (ESV): “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned-”. This statement emphasizes that sin came into the world through Adam and that all men, without exception, are affected by it. The dogma that regards Mary as “perfectly righteous” and without original sin contradicts this universal principle of sinfulness as set out in the Bible. After all, Jesus himself affirms in Mark 10:18 (ESV): “And Jesus said to him, 'Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” Here Jesus emphasizes the fundamental truth that only God is good. The rich young man has tried to testify to his own righteousness and goodness and Jesus makes clear the distinction between the perfect goodness of God and the fallen nature of man. This alone proves that no one, not even Mary, can be considered “always pure” and “righteous”. The Roman Catholic veneration of Mary as sinless thus contradicts the clear teachings of Jesus.

I'm surprised that Mike does not account the historical and geographic reality of Jesus' time. The intimacy and closeness of cousins and distant relatives in Middle Eastern communities is so common even to this day. When he tried to make "isn't that Jesus' mother and cousins" sound obscure, he doesn't seem to realise that a person with Semitic roots will have no issue with such statement.

I like to take the stance that St Joseph was young and made a vow of Virginity as well. I remember reading once I think in Numbers 30 that a woman is allowed to keep her virginity even when Married to her husband, but the husband is allowed to break the Vow if he wishes, and God will forgive the woman. I always think about Joseph being described as a "just" man in the bible. A just man would be devoted to God, and I would think that a just man would also allow his wife to keep her vow of Virginity with God. Another reason why I take that stance is that I can't imagine that a 70 year old man would be able to travel from Nazareth > Bethlehem > Egypt by foot and would have to defend his Wife and Son from robbers and Idol worshippers in Egypt.

God hardened the heart of Pharaoh as part of His plan to lead the Jews out of bondage to Egypt. Pharaoh saw the miracles, saw his own magicians fail, and only became more obstinate. After seeing James White continuing to remain totally unmoved in his opposition to Catholicism (and his ever-growing capacity to act like a jackwagon in debates), and going in circles for 30+ years with the exact same talking points… I almost imagine that God is hardening the heart of White to lead protestants out of bondage to error and into the Church. If the Blessed Mother would have given birth to other children why aren't the alleged siblings of Jesus called the children of Mary, the Gospel clearly says Jesus is the son of Mary. Second, in Luke 2 we have the only account of Jesus as a Teen, and notice how when he was 12 years old him and his parents went to the Passover feast, yet there is no mention of siblings, "41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it." If the Blessed Mother had other children would they have traveled with them to Passover? Did she waited 12 years or more to have other children? "44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends." Relatives and friends but no mention of other children of Mary. I challenge all Prots to tell me where were all the alleged siblings of Jesus in the account of Luke 2. I'm all ears, also please point out where does the gospel say that Mary bore other children . I'm all ears.

Excellent work on the video. The effort and thoughtfulness is impressive and obvious. However, I a moving more towards orthodoxy away from Rome as the dependence on the charism seems more a substitute for Faith than a convincing argument. Christ gave us the priesthood and the bishops lead the faith but the Holy Spirit guides and inspires that church. In modern times, it is a readable idea that one man can run the faith but to those before the internet age the idea that you couldn’t rely on your jurisdiction for orthodoxy and that the Holy Spirit was confined to Rome is far more ridiculous and far fetched than the idea that God couldn’t guide the faithful and protect his Church without an earthly king. The presumption you work on is that God can only reveal truth through a single man but that smacks special pleading and a lack of faith. Also, the innovation of doctrine and the papal negligence in child chrismation and communion are absolute proof from my perspective that he is not solely infallible. The first see, yes, but that does not excuse the disaster that ultimate power has brought. The Protestant reformation is a direct result of the supremacy of the papacy and it’s because of the convenience of ex cathedra which is an unmitigated disaster. The apostolic church that has changed how they pray, changed what they believe and changed what they practice has unshockingly descended into absolute chaos with thousands of heretical or schismatic splinter groups. Also, there is no evidence or examples in the first millennia that even remotely justify the power grab of Vatican 1. Plus, look at the fruits of the west vs the east since the schism. The west was more successful in both spreading the faith and scattering it to the wind.
