- George Strait is mourning the loss of two very significant people within his professional life and personal life. George Strait was hit with the news that two of his closest friends passed away on the same day just hours apart from one another. Following their passing George Strait shared beautiful tributes in their honor. Geiorge Strait also detailed what each of them meant to not only his career but his personal life as well. Our hearts and prayers are going out to the family and friends of Erv Woolsey and Gene Elders as well as George Strait and his camp during this difficult time.

George Strait has suffered so much love loss in his life. To lose his lifelong career manager and friend, his fiddler player and friend of 30 plus years within hours of each other seems so unfair.
My prayers and respect go out to you Mr. Strait, Mr. Woolsey's family and friends, and Mr. Elder's family and friends. This made me so sad for ALL of them tonight.
Damn. To lose a friend is hard but to lose two friends within a very short time is unthinkable. I'm so sorry 💜

I met Erv Woolsley in 1988 at a GS concert. I recognized him from the fan club magazines and went up to just say hello. He invited me and my girlfriend up to the hotel to party with the band after the show and to meet George. He was very kind. None of the guys nor Erv tried to lure us girls alone. They were all perfect gentlemen the entire time. Class act all the way.

I loved Gene's fiddle mastery, especially in "Amarillo by mornin." RIP
Wow now we have so many in Heaven can you imagine Toby and all of them singing together wow. Prayers for all of there families

There sure is a lot a lot of Good people passing I have not recovered from losing Toby Keith😢
It's hard to recover from Toby Keith passing. He was an icon. What he did for the military and his children's golf tournament. He was one of a kind.😢

Those men weren't just coworkers they were family. A band that has been together as long as they have share a bond that few can understand. Heaven's band has another great fiddle player in it now. We have Mr. Woolsey to thank for so much of what we love about 80's & 90's country music just because of the way he managed GS, as Counrty Cast pretty much explained.
My heart goes out to our King George. I pray he can find peace after such tragic loss.
