The Chinese are not unprepared for this. In fact, long before we could even articulate the thought China has drawn up the alternatives. These include: 1. Strong military presence in the Indian Ocean thanks to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar lending ports facilities to help China develop their military to become among the most widespread and prolific in the world, 2. Establish land route, CPEC, through Pakistan and Pakistan occupied territories by forcing Pakistan to convert the disputed land in the north into a province. Thereby, use the belt and road initiative to get fuel supplies by land. 3. By joining with Russia to use the Arctic route to get oil from Middle East as well as from Russia’s new oil explorations in the Arctic region. Russia is also supplying oil and gas from its Siberian oil fields. 4. Over and above this, the Antarctic region where snow is melting at such rapid pace could be the new source of oil for the world. China could get their requirements from Antarctica without crossing Malacca straits. 5. Last and the most important, let us not forget the huge reserves in the South China Sea that China has already staked its claim to and has a stranglehold of, does not need to pass through Malacca straits. It is not for nothing that China has decided to ignore the claims of the ASEAN countries because China knows they are not strong enough to oppose them. Remember China pays GO with other countries while others play chess. The difference is between multitasking and working in series. The belt and road initiative has only China’s interest in others land and economy. By allowing those countries to borrow and thus become indebted to China, China can keep them busy in trying to pay back their debt for the rest of their lives. This is kind of Zamindari system that was prevalent in India centuries ago resurrecting at the international level. While the US blatantly seeks world dominance through military solutions, China seeks its domination through economic strangulation.
If someone like you (don't mean any disrespect) could figure it all out and post it on UA-cam, we should expect Indian diplomats to know a little bit more on this matter and not post it on UA-cam. May be India has alternatives for China's alternatives. Who knows? Diplomacy is secrecy you see. But if u are 100% correct, India is already the winner. India doesn't want to destroy Chinese trade. India wants them to be less assertive in Indian Ocean. So if China exercises option 2, 3, 4 or 5 and stops using the Strait of Malacca, that is exactly what India wants. What is China going to do with Sri Lankan port or any other ports, if it doesn't use the Malacca Strait? So in short China's alternatives (presumed by you) are India's trophies for excellence.
