I have never owned a Fender nor have I hardly ever played through any of them, but a couple of nights ago I had to play through a Hot Rod Deville. Having a nicely put together pedal board with a great dirty and lead tone plugged up through that Deville sounded monstrous. Loved it.

I still have my 1965 Twin. Still sounds as good as it did when new. It has been re-capped, original Oxford speakers. Never been played in a bar. B B King loved it when he used it when I was doing monitors for him years ago...

I own 2 of those 3 amps - got a 2001 Hot Rod DeVille 212 (USA made) and a vintage 1964 Deluxe Reverb. Both are excellent amps, the '64 is the best sounding amp I have. The DeVille was my go-to amp for many years and many gigs. I've tried many other amps over the years, but I always end up going back to my Fenders with pedals.

I have the Hot Rod Deluxe IV and when I play metal,I have it on the clean channel, running a MXR Super Badass(better sounding than boss metal pedal by far btw) distortion pedal, and it is killer. If I really want to get more dirty distortion,I just click onto the distortion channel.Mind you, when I turn the gain 3/4 up and have it on the distortion channel without the MXR,with the "more drive" switch on(on the pedal switch),it has the perfect sound for Bark at the Moon for example.I should mention though that I usually play my Ibanez Prestige with the seymour duncans pups for metal stuff which influences the sound a lot as opposed to my Sierra Fender Strat with the custom 50's pickups .The fender lends to more of a 70's rock sound but I always run my MXR pedal on the clean channel for songs such as Carry on my Wayward Son for example . For Hendrix tunes like "All along The Watch Tower",playing the Fender through the distortion channel is perfect(distortion 2/3 to 3/4) and I switch to "more drive" on the pedal switch for the leads.Of course, everyone hears things differently and what sounds good to me,may not sound good to you,but at least I hopefully gave some people a little more insight if they consider buying the Hot Rod Deluxe.

I have a hot Rod Deville. And the overdrive channel sucks. But put it on the clean channel with pedals it sounds freaking amazing. Basically all you need is a good compressor and a good equalizer and you can get just about any kind of sound you want. I use the Wampler equalizer and the Keeley 4 knob compressor. I also have a volume pedal called a little black amp and when I use that I can crank the Deville to nine or 10 and then lower the volume and still hear the beautiful break up. Love it.

I used to have a delux reverb amp, and just becsuse it is 33 watts, mine could kick a custom 100. How I achieved this was I built a speaker canbinet with 2- 12's heavy duty speakers. Made anothet cabinet with 2- 15 inch speakers. Built a horn cabinet with 2- 50 watt horns. Then added 2 pre- amps that plug into your guitar. There was no distortion at all.We all had fun playing ZZ TOP, THIN LIZZY, LYNYRD SKYNYRD ..and all that fun stuff..

    • @jepatawaran
      @jepatawaran 3 роки тому

@@Sally-uu3yt I've never played a deluxe or twin reverb, or even a real tube amp before. But for the GT 100, i'm very happy. Like what i've said in my comment, i like the Deluxe Reverb because it's punchy and it stands out for me not that much treble and perfect for my Tele. What i liked about it the most is the USB out so you can directly record on your laptop/desktop without any audio interface or mic.
BUT... The issue i've encountered so far is the volume drop when your "headroom" is lower than your guitar/pedals' volume. And last April 2020, i've updated the firmware, after saying that "update is complete", it won't turn on anymore. So i'm not using it right now. Good thing i have the Champion 40 as a backup amp.
      Great amp for me, nonetheless.

The thing about many amp makes these days is that many players seem to want to have their amps upgraded.new caps or speakers or valves etc.so why on Earth don't they come out of the factories already at the top of their designs.
I owned a 65 Fender deluxe amp through the sixties,I think that I was probably naive back then as I treated my deluxe with far to much respect not realizing that my deluxe really needed a good cranking ! I didn't play cranked up music in those days.
The biggest disappointment for me when on a lovely and dry day,I took my deluxe outside to do some playing and soon realized that a transistor radio put out more volume than my deluxe could ! Though inside of a building the amp put out more of a normal volume.
Realizing that this amp would need to be miked up most of the time,I went with Marshall amps and never looked back.

    • @rolux4853

You want to replace your Twin Reverb with the DeVille?
      Why?
I own the Tweed 4x10 Blues DeVille made in USA and it is extremely efficient and loud, so there’s no problem with playing clean so loud you can’t even hear the drummer anymore.
It has the super nice and full clean sound and when turned up it gets this creamy tweed overdrive that contains so much grit.
The tone is just amazing, if you like the warm and bluesy crunch sound!
However I’m playing Funk more than anything else lately.
      Therefore I’m looking for a Blackface/Silverface.
Your Twin would be perfect, but I’d also settle for a Deluxe Reverb, Vibrolux or even Princeton!

Fender - Confusing Tremolo and Vibrato for over half a century!
Dude says "pulsating tremolo" and then the Deluxe's pedal says "Vib" on it. Almost as bad as the "Tremolo Arm" on the Strat he's playing. When your company has set the standard for things like Tremolo (on the amp) and Vibrato (on the guitar) you'd think they'd work out the kinks by now and get their shit straight. I know, I know...it's not "Vintage" correct if a Stratocaster's headstock was updated to the correct "With Synchronized Vibrato"...but, it sure would help people understanding the pedal they're buying or the sound they're hearing better...It's a small but valid beef. I don't think the world of guitars/amps would fall apart if you properly labeled the Deluxe's "Vibrato" Channel as "Tremolo" instead. Could you imagine if the Deluxe actually had a pitch shifting vibrato on it instead of tremolo? It wouldn't be the "classic" it is now. Anyway - historically correct incorrectness is still incorrect. (Oh - and I apologize to Full Compass as they aren't responsible for any of this.)

The word “perfect” wasn’t used sparingly in this one. All these amps are apparently perfect for everything because the perfect pedal platform and perfect perfection.......
These amps are modern, overly bright crap. It’s true. The clean tone without the piercing, sterile sound is achieved in the old blackface amps that fender made in the 60s. These are nowhere near those specs and you can hear it.
The twin doesn’t sound bad, but it’s sterile. It’s better than the other two but that ain’t saying much.
The deluxe is overly bright with some punch and fizzes out with the overdrive....could have been the OD pedal used but it sounded bad.
The Deville should be a 2x12 at 40watts to replicate a Pro Reverb but the 60watt makes it sterile. Its a thin tone in clean mode, however the overdrive has a great body to it.
But, we don’t buy fender for an overdriven tone, we buy em cause there clean.
These amps are clean, but they lack any decent tone which isn’t present. Just my 2 cents, don’t hate the messenger.
I own a blues deluxe, it’s the best modern fender for the money. I have the limited edition black tolex one. Can’t go wrong at 40 watts. But blackface fenders from the 60s will surely kick its ass so it’s a great starter amp for sure!!

They use completely different tubes. That is a pretty significant difference. They definitely don't sound alike when you turn the volume up past 2. The Twin uses solid state rectification while the deluxe uses a tube rectifier. So they also feel completely different when playing them. They are made in China so I shall forever pass on both the Tone Master amps. You should too, unless contributing to the Chinese Military with your money is appealing to you. Hope your children like being considered not fully human by the new Chinese over lords that you helped gain power.
