hello there.... thank u for appreciating a Filipino speaking ur language but i would just like to inform u that in the Philippines we dont usually demand hierarchy especially on friendship.... i mean yeah we understood that in korea u need to addressed the person older to u properly... but here in the philippines it's fine to call ur friends by their names or sometimes pet names for extra sweet friendships... and it doesn't mean ur being rude or impolite... it's actually depends on how u say it or ur intentions of greeting them makes the talk became impolite or improper...but then in the family yeah we do call our older siblings like "ATE" for girls and "KUYA" for boys...stay safe and much love

Jjulibee, didnt know kristel learns hangeul because she have korean friends where can she ask if shes correct in pronunciation. She already told in that video. Like Kristells its really a big help to learn a language if you have friends on that country like korea. Same in learning english. But its hard to approach coz some are that kind of applying those honorific and hesitant coz of age rules. Kristel just showed how she was progressing in her Hanguel. It's understandable for your friend to react that way but he should've been more considerate to think that Kristel was not born in Korea. She's using "YA", as a substitute for "HOY", which is a common word to call or address your close friends here in PH. It's like calling your American friend as "DUDE". It's isn't in our culture to call our closest friends as older brother/sister, unless they're really so much ahead of you in terms of age or you've just barely know them.

She's using "YA", as a substitute for "HOY", which is a common word to call or address your close friends here in PH. It's like calling your American friend as "DUDE". It's isn't in our culture to call our closest friends as older brother/sister, unless they're really so much ahead of you in terms of age or you've just barely know them.

How i wish that this reaction video could be edited from Kristel old videos "learning" Korean up to her recent vlog that she actually fluently speaking the language itself. I think it could be a great video if you have research and watched first her vlogs so that it could cater varieties of reactions to your whole vlog. Just a suggestion though.
