First time in my whole life as a professional photographer, 25 years, I've actually sat through a whole video like this one. You are very eloquent, entertaining and you make the doldrums of learning a camera manual quite interesting. My hat off to you my friend. You've made a new fan of me. Keep on the good work!
I guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Bruno August I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I searched for tips and tricks for Nikon Z6 because I’m fairly new to photography and I recently just bought this camera. I was planning on watching a few short videos. This video popped up and I clicked on it. I didn’t even see how long it was. I sat and watched the entire video in one sitting. What an incredible video for noobies such as myself who simply just want to know all about the camera. This was incredibly well made. There was plenty of humor that I loved. Awesome job man.
This. did it for me. Now, my brand new camera is up and running perfectly fine. No sweat and no tears. Thanks Jared, I appreciate that you go over everything and don’t skip anything.
Bought a $2000 Z6 camera and it comes without a user manual which has to be downloaded onto a phone or laptop! Your video was the better option to familiarize myself to the Z6 in my hand. I just spent about four hours watching the video (stop/start/backup/practice/take Excedrin...) and it was worth every minute! Thank you for taking me through this awesome piece of technology. This camera is a far cry from my 1970 Minolta SRT 101 and even my Nikon F4s and D70s.
I just want to say thanks to Jared. I watched a few of your videos after exhausting myself thinking Dslr or mirrorless , full frame or cropped sensor. By no means ever in my life have I thought about photography. I’ve never owned a camera. After exhausting myself about week and doing a lot of discovery I found the Nikon Z6. Was eyeballing the Z7 but I didn’t think I needed that “much” camera. I’m supper excited to have purchase a new Z6 today , you’ve helped my convictions to make the purchase. Hopefully I can learn to shoot now and make great memories! Thanks for all the work you do , doing what you do! Let the journey begin ! 🤛
I just got a Nikon Z6 so this guide is free at help for me to get started. Very thorough and informative. Thanks!!! Looking forward to more awesome videos.
Thank you so much for an in depth video on this camera. I just purchased this camera and received in the mail today. You helped so much with the intimidation this camera first brought to me. Looking forward to starting a new journey with this camera. I watched the whole video.
I am so glad I found this video, although my camera is z5 however, this helped me to learn how to use it. There is absolutely no other video like this online. Thanks for putting all the details into your work.
Jared, thank you so much for putting this video together! I just purchased my Z6 and configured all of your setting except i stuck with auto ISO, really just to see how well the camera handles low light, etc. Please do more on this camera for real world shooting. Thank you again!
This was a great video. I currently own a D750 which I primarily use for photography. I recently purchased the Z6 for it's videography capabilities and it hasn't disappoint me. This camera is a great video camera. I love the fact that I can see everything that's displayed on the monitor in the view finder. Nikon really stepped up their game and represented well with the Z series!! I know my camera 10x better than I did before watching this video. Thank you man
Thanks for this awesome tutorial, Jared. I took your advice and ordered the Z6 with 24-70 F4 and the FTZ mount adapter. Now, even before I have it, thanks to this tutorial, I know what to expect and how would I set it up. Thank you again.
Thanks for teaching me and thousands of others, the basic and a little bit of advance on Nikon Z6, Which I just bought 2 days ago together with 50mm 1.8 lens plus the adapter. So Now I have to learn. So Thanks You.....
Almost bought the R6 because my friend switched to Canon and the R6 is soo good but I ended up switching to Nikon and buying the Z 6ll and oh man am I happy I am a greedy son of a beep. The Z 6ll is soo much better than the R6, I LOVE this camera! Anyway, to anyone weighing down choices and deciding between the R6 and Z6ll, definitely go with the Z6ll!
Thank you for this. I am transitioning from my NIkon D7100 to the new world camera. This was very helpful and infinitely more entertaining than reading the manual which is not always clear. Appreciate all your work to help others out.
This was really helpful, thanks much. I'm not new to photography or to Nikon, but they sure added lots of stuff to mirrorless. I watched a few videos and yours was the most helpful by far.
Just bought a Z6 and waiting on it to come in via the mail. Tho I've been shooting on a DSLR for years and I kinda know how this camera works, I sat through the whole thing and picked up some useful stuff along the way (like never lend your camera to anyone) Thanks for making these very entertaining videos!
Thanks for the comprehensive guide you've made for the rest of us. I am not new to photography but I am new to Nikon Z6, and after one hour watching to your video I was able to go out and shoot confidently for the entire day. Thanks. One small remark, if I may. It is about the uncompressed RAW vs lossless compressed. The thing is that the modern processors are way faster than even the fastest memory cards. This means that the processor will be able to compress the entire 30MB file and make it, 5 to 10MB smaller, quicker than it would take for the memory card to save the extra 5 to 10MB. Yes, it is a hardly measurable difference when shooting a single photo, but it can become more prominent when shooting series of dozens of photos. Than the compressed RAW is clearly the winner regarding the time it takes to empty the buffer. The obvious drawback is that such a compression cost a lot of processing power and this is less energy efficient. Just something to be aware of when choosing between the compressed and uncompressed RAW the true choice lies between the more responsive and more energy-efficient setting
43:28 My understanding of option b4 is that if you know your camera tends to under expose or over expose by a given amount (let's say 1/3 of a stop, despite what your meter is staying) this lets you adjust the default exposure so it will always under/over expose by a set amount (at least, that's how it was explained to me). Think of it like AF fine-tune for DSLR lenses. Some Fuji cameras have this issue, for example, where they may under expose by 1/3 of a stop despite the light meter saying the exposure is correct. I haven't found a need to use it on my Z cameras as I'd rather just adjust my exposure to compensate for light loss due to light transmission loss in a lens. Normally I just eyeball it and if it looks a tad undersposed, I just apply some exposure comp and retake the shot if possible.
Thank you Jared. I've been contemplating moving up to a mirrorless camera but do not want to give up my 30 + years with Nikon. This video actually makes sense of the complicated Nikon setup with some common sense (not to mention a small dose of humor).
Great video review of settings. I've had my Z6 for about 6 months now, and have been digging in further to get more out of the advanced settings on the camera. Good comprehensive review of all of the settings, I picked up some hidden nuggets here, especially the review of the screen icons. Lots of options for changing settings I wasn't taking advantage of. I did note one misleading item: Under Photo Shooting Menu > NEF (RAW) recording, you said to select Uncompressed because compression on your files is bad. Actually Lossless Compressed is the preferred setting as lossless is, well lossless, meaning no image degradation to the file. Lossless compression is like a zip file. The technique cuts the size of the file by up to half but doesn't affect the underlying data. Lossy compression is not a good as data is lost, but using Uncompressed will slow writes and reads from your card and increase potential storage requirements by up to half.
This video was amazing. I bought this camera but I am very beginner at photography. I had a Nikon Coolpix p530 before. This really helped me out to understand alot of buttons and menus. Thanks so much ! Love your videos. Looking forward to your 1M subs hoping to win the GAW,
Not that i comment to often or anything but i just wanted to say i like your work and thanks for all the content you, dan, steven, and todd create. Its made the world of photography a joy to participate in and made me a better photographer, thank you
Come on guys, let Jared be Jared. If you don't like his videos/vlogs then maybe it's best to skip them. It's not always necessary to point out what you don't like about a person. Sometimes it's better to let them be and live your own life.
This is an excellent video tutorial. We're looking at buying this camera and it will be the first camera of this kind (DSLR) that we'll have purchased.. and this spells it all out beautifully. Thank you :)
Great video, very informative. I just got my Z6 today and spent this evening watching your video. I also used your D7500 video when I first got that camera. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and enjoy the humor!
Thank you soooo very much for this video Jered However, you will want to set the "Release Button to use dial" (f6 menu) This option set to on means you won't have to "HOLD" the ISO button while turning the front or back wheel ;-) best regards, Rick
Im still trying to find fault with this guy, I truly enjoy watching someone who loves what they do, who is authentic and above all, has the courage to share what they know with us. As much as you might want to hate him or crit him, he leaves you richer with his knowledge. Thanks for this, I know I appreciate your opinions. COntinue.
Thanks for the settings file. I couldn't get my camera to recognise it and then found on Ken Rockwell's site that you have to set your Z6 to P, S, A or M mode on the top dial first. Then worked.
I started following you. Because my wife has been talking about getting back into photography. She has the Nikon D60. & has been out of the cine for some time. I would like to surprise her with the z62. If could do a top 5 review or your list of go-to lenses for the Nikon z62 that would be really helpful. Thanks!.
Jared... REALLY enjoy your user's guides and have used them for several Nikon cameras in the past...thanks for a great resource! That said...you did a Z50 guide and then a Z6 guide...but no Z5 guide. Unless this already exists, I really would love for you to do an Atomos Ninja V guide video, possibly with this specific camera. I got the Z6 with an Atomos Ninja because of the 10-bit video and future RAW video capability. I am sure a lot of people will be getting these two together. It was a bit intimidating to learn at first with all the settings, connections, and new file types such as prores. Great stuff, keep it up!

Very good video , thx fro , however all the videos I watched about Nikon z6 never mentioned they took XQD memory cards , I did a stupid thing a prebought a SD card only to find it doesn’t fit anyway , would have been nice to be advised , keep up the good work fro
JPEG _star_ setting is better than jpeg _fine_setting, check the manual. Star indicates better quality in the detail whereas non star is all images are same file size more or less

I literally unboxed the Z6 today. SO COOL how your video showed up in my feed without even searching for it.
Thanks for making this video!

Great Video. I just ordered my Z6 + FTZ Adapter and i am looking forward to get a great camera, which replaces my D7000.
How is it? I'm deciding between the a7iii and the Z6
Samien Rahman, Jared Polin had done a compare between the A7 III and Z6.
I love my Z6 and the FTZ. Buying used F mount lens and they work great..
Doing the same a year later. Also replacing my D7000. How was your last year of the Z6? What lense do you have and did you sell you D7000 glass?
Me 2

Best Z6 tutorial I've seen! I do like the Knipplely stick.
I am totally new to cameras. I appreciate your detailed instructions. I subscribed two minutes into the video.

Thank You @Jared Polin Brother for this service....🙏
I was very much in need of it when I saw this, as I gonna use Z6 now....
I love this channel😃 and I love the way that Jared jokes, that's funny and information is useful at the same time!:) Thanks
Thanks! I always use your videos to set up my cameras.
My favorite video of his to date. "ALWAYS SHOOT RAW. I SHOOT RAW"

Nikon Z6II ordered today! And this video so helpful like with my previous camera D7500. Jared you are superb 🔥
I didn't even know that Z nikon series have focus stacking.
Very well done Nikon 👍
Thanks 4 this guide sir Fro'
I finally set up focus peaking. Love it.
This video was amazing. I bought this camera but I am very beginner at photography. I had a Nikon Coolpix p530 before. This really helped me out to understand alot of buttons and menus. Thanks so much ! Love your videos. Looking forward to your 1M subs hoping to win the GAW,
This video is fantastic bro. Very very helpful for people like me who want awesome tech but don't feel like reading the manual
Not that i comment to often or anything but i just wanted to say i like your work and thanks for all the content you, dan, steven, and todd create. Its made the world of photography a joy to participate in and made me a better photographer, thank you

Got my Z6 and your video has helped me make sense of the menu system. Thank you!
Thanks for this. Beats reading the manual.

Thats too hard for the entitled of the world.
I have two F2s, a Photomic FTN, and an Fm....and a cheap Cannon A-200 digital. Life goes on, doesn't it? ( : P
Excellent and valuable advice. Huge amount of ground covered and very useful.
Thank you soooo very much for this video Jered
However, you will want to set the "Release Button to use dial" (f6 menu) This option set to on means you won't have to "HOLD" the ISO button while turning the front or back wheel ;-)
best regards, Rick
you are simply the best!!! thank you so much for your video and for your help!
Thanks Jared, great informative video, a lot to take in. Just got my Z6 and you helped so much.
Thank you so much for this video. I just got my camera and this information is so helpful. I love the way you explain!!
I just got myself a Nikon z5 and was looking for a video like this but couldn’t find one. Really wish you made one for the z5 😃
Just bought this camera wih the kit lens and ftz adapter. Keep up your awesome videos! Love it
Thank you so much this video are really good and so helpful. All things what I don’t understand you explain in one video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Some people may need the very basics" That is me :D thank you for detailed video!
COntinue.
Thank you for this video. It helped a lot! This camera is very challenging for a neophyte like me!
So much fun watching Jared's posts, I love the unexpected jokes here and there. Could you please do Nikon Z50 User's Guide?
Enjoyed the tutorial. Thanks Jared.
Thanks for the settings file. I couldn't get my camera to recognise it and then found on Ken Rockwell's site that you have to set your Z6 to P, S, A or M mode on the top dial first. Then worked.
Beautifully explained 👏 👌
Thanks Jared for making this video. You are awesome!
"It's a pain in the tuches"😂😂 nice to hear something from my language from time to time! Thanks for the amazing tutorial! Subscribed!
I started following you. Because my wife has been talking about getting back into photography.
She has the Nikon D60. & has been out of the cine for some time.
I would like to surprise her with the z62. If could do a top 5 review or your list of go-to lenses for the Nikon z62 that would be really helpful. Thanks!.
Good stuff Jared. You need to make a t-shirt for the arrival of the 58 0.95: "Noct: I Shoot At Night"
Does Jared do a guide for the Z5? if not would this video be similar enough to set up the Z5
Absolutely. The whole menu system on the Z5 is exactly the same as the Z6 just a few of the in-camera features aren't available.
@@sbk_nef cheers
Thanks for making this! Can't imagine its very profitable but it's very useful! Thanks man
Nice and well done. Good explanation of the various settings.
Jared...
REALLY enjoy your user's guides and have used them for several Nikon cameras in the past...thanks for a great resource!
That said...you did a Z50 guide and then a Z6 guide...but no Z5 guide. Would it be safe to "assume" (dangerous or embarrassing on occasion!) that setting up a Z5 is basically the same as the Z6...or too many differences?
Unless this already exists, I really would love for you to do an Atomos Ninja V guide video, possibly with this specific camera. I got the Z6 with an Atomos Ninja because of the 10-bit video and future RAW video capability. I am sure a lot of people will be getting these two together. It was a bit intimidating to learn at first with all the settings, connections, and new file types such as prores. Great stuff, keep it up!
Nikon Red is actually dope so is Denim, toy, and graphite. if you shoot raw you wont have to worry about it, but Nikon RED profile is actually a very cool and unique profile. hard to replicate.
Excellent presentation Mr Fro.
Thankyou, enjoyed the whole film.
Amongst others cameras, I use a D800 thinking of changing to mirrorless after 40 years self employed in photography.
I suffer with severe arthritis and I'm now struggling holding the heavy DSLR's with flash attached and a 70-200mm zoom.
Hope the Z6 is a lot lighter?
Best wishes from me here in the UK.
Great stuff Fro!
It's the best video guide!
Tony should watch this tutorial. How to ... AF, WB, VR
blue lol ...
blue haha
Thank U SIR for this video...!
God Bless u💞
Super great video. Thank you.
23:37 No, actually, cards are not cheap for the Z series ;)
You not lying. I just bought my first z6 the other day and got damn. Them cards (used 64gig) is 70 bucks then on to 100 on up
Jared, thanks so much for this incredibly helpful video. A gem vid. God bless!
hey Fro , today , I bought Video Editing Guide. Pretty good stuff !
nice video, and YES I enjoyed all of your punns :-)))
by the way you also turn the camera off before a lens change to save the contacts on the camera / lens from arcing if the power was on, and perhaps causing a micro power surge to the wrong place, and damaging the chip, focus engine or worse. ( different circuits have diferent voltages and current limits due to design, and sending high of either to a low v or A circuit can burn out the chips).
Great video! Will your sttings work for Nikon z5
You're sort of a genius. I wish I could take you to Guam with me. It's high time for a book about place no-one in the USA knows about. Thank You for teaching me my camera. Ever been to GUAM? Where's your tip jar. Alan Grossman
wow !!! thanks for all the work and effort - really a life saver !
Very good video , thx fro , however all the videos I watched about Nikon z6 never mentioned they took XQD memory cards , I did a stupid thing a prebought a SD card only to find it doesn’t fit anyway , would have been nice to be advised , keep up the good work fro
Super good video, thank you very much
Thanks Jared for this! Helped tremendously (is that how you spell it? xD)! Anyway, loving the camera! :) keep it up!
I finally remembered t watch the video.Just in time for the new firmware to be released the end of the week.
love the channel 📸
Great video thanks for the info!
JPEG _star_ setting is better than jpeg _fine_setting, check the manual. Star indicates better quality in the detail whereas non star is all images are same file size more or less
how practical will this guide be for the z6ii? it's on the way
Thanks mate! great video..
Thanks a lot, bro! Helpful as well as entertaining :D
thanks Fro, great video!
Thank you very much for your good advice
Hey Jared, thank you for the fabulous video!!
