The same thing happened to me, but I was able to fix it. I used a pair of tweezers, a pipe cleaner (the fuzzy kids art supply) and a flashlight. I noticed that the DVD drive was clicking because it couldn't push the DVD on to the retaining clip, so I turned the car off while the cd slot was exposed, and I manually pushed the DVD in. Next I used the tweezers to open the DVD slot some more by pushing up on the top of the slot. I then used my flashlight to find the black retaining clip underneath the DVD. I used the pipe cleaner to adjust the position of the DVD so that it is on top, then I took the tweezers out of the slot and forced it on top of the DVD carefully to not scrape the disk and pushed down until the DVD didn't pop back up. I turned the car on and the clicking stopped and the map data loaded after around 30 seconds. I hope this helps anyone that has a similar issue save their navigation system and money.
I found an easy solution. No need to buy after-market radios. No moving battery cables. No cleaning DVD lense. I just had to buy the latest DVD version for my Camry Hybrid. I bought it on Amazon insert the DVD and it uploaded. Now it's as new.
I had an outdated version of the DVD... I bought a 2019 version off of ebay and removed the old one and put the new disc in. Now my disk tray wont open and it looks like the CD is stuck in there. Anyone has any tips on how to fix this?
So this is what I found to work (it may seem unwise, but nothing else i found online worked and i just assumed I'd have to replace it): I turned the car on, opened up the screen to get access to the DVD map opening, then turned off the car. I inserted the map DVD and made sure that it was all the way in. I then took the thin little plastic pipe that comes with a can of compressed air and stuck it into the opening UNDER the dvd and pushed in quite far (maybe 3.5 in?), and I ran it back and forth several times. I removed the pipe, and turned the car on. I closed the screen, and to my frustration, nothing happened. I opened the screen back up and it spit out the Nav DVD. But then I put it back in and it STAYED IN. I closed the screen, and it started to reboot. Idk if I just got lucky, but it worked!!
I have the answer. Please read the whole thing before taking the steps. Step by step: 1-turn the engine on. 2-open the map DVD slot. 3-as soon as you put the Map DVD in and goes inside.. turn the engine off. 4- turn the key on until you see the light on the dashboard ( do not turn the engine on), then quickly turn it off. 5- turn the engine on and click (close). It should start loading the map. You are done!
I am having exactly the same issue with my Toyota Kluger (Highlander) 2008. I powered down the system when it was trying to read the MAP DVD, but as soon as I powered back on it ejected the disk. @Kellybah / Anyone, do you have any other ideas to try?
Thank you so much! That worked! 😁 I tried it twice. The second time, I left the car off for several minutes and pressed the “close” button with the car off. It made a slight adjustment noise. When I turned the car back on, the disc stayed in and I was able to close the panel. It took a few minutes for the information to load and then the audio started working. YAY! 😄 Thank you again for your help! 😊
I can only take a few dollars if you wish to be happy to get your map work again...The DVD is not cracked neither is the drive...It's a common problem with this unit and no help with the manufacturers.
@Salami, Please read the replies and comments to try the different methods to get your stereo and Map DVD working again. I also shared a link in the comment section, of a video made by another UA-camr that fixed the camry map DVD. Hope you find your solution. Thanks.
but what if you have the DVD and this came up after fuses were fiddled with and/or battery was unplugged? Putting the DVD in that has been in there for years does nothing.

contact me I have a solution to this problem...Mine was like that for 7 months until I recently discovered how to get it fix...Be careful it may be worse when you change car battery...
If your DVD is being rejected. Slot in the DvD and Turn off your car engine while the DVD is inside the Navigation. Turn it back on and I believe it will accept the disc. But if it doesn't let me know for the second option.

same problem here on my 2009 toyota camry hybrid
even on my Infinity G35 the disc is not ejecting
Buy a bottle of compressed air in the electronics section of Walmart. Spray the air into the dvd drive to get rid of dust and debris and it will load.
Same problem. Any answers out there? The dealers ask $3,200 to fix it.
Claudio Martinez-Valle mine did it to. Just turn it off once the disc is in

What is the other option??
Find the radio fuse under the steering wheel and unplug it while the car is running and the CD is inside. Plug it back on and it should fix it.
Crap me too!
UH-OH
the solution is to open the cover of the radio and clean the eyes of the Cd laser
are you sure of that?
got a video on how to do it?
