Don Lemon slammed after failing to address claims he meddled in the Jussie Smollett investigation

CNN anchor Don Lemon has failed to address allegations he tipped off Jussie Smollett in regards to Chicago Police not believing the actor’s claim he was the victim of a racist and homophobic hate crime.
Mr Smollett - the former star of ‘Empire’ - is charged with lying to police in Chicago and orchestrating a fake attack on himself in January 2019.
The actor took the stand on Monday where he told the court he first realised police doubted his story after Don Lemon contacted him
The 39-year-old claims Mr Lemon’s text was the key in his decision not to hand over his phone to Chicago police.
Mr Smollett says his distrust of police was vindicated after authorities charged the actor with faking a hate crime attack in order to gain publicity.
It is not clear the extent of Mr Lemon’s correspondence with Mr Smollett during the early part of the Chicago police investigation.
