  • St. Thomas Aquinas taught "there are three sources of trial for the Church: (i) external persecution; (ii) undermining of the Truth from within by heresy and spreading of error; and (iii) corruption of members through sin." In an effort to keep our wits about us in this confusing and trying moment of the Church and the world around us, we have been looking into these things. Let's consider how to stay free from the corruption cause by sin with some help from the great Cure d'Ars.

Great homily on confession. Thank you Father. I had heard on another sensus fidelium utube video, three years ago, a priest talking about proper way to do confession. This priest had recommended before listing our sins and enumerating them, he said for us to say, "I accuse myself of the following sins" and then list them. He advised doing this so that the devil could never bring them up again, to hold it against us. That the devil could never re-accuse us of these sins again, since we ourselves are accusing ourselves of these sins. Especially at the time of our death. I always try to do this....since I need all the help I can get.....

I remember during my one of the confessions, when I said "I accuse myself of the following sins..." to one of the modern priests, he said, not to accuse myself. Then I changed it to "I had committed following sins..." only to discover later that the traditional way is to saying "accuse". Good point, that devil won't accuse us again later.

"The sins we try to hide always reappear." NO matter how scary or how humiliating we feel about them, when we confess them, we take away their power over us. We cleanse ourselves and are set on the path towards heaven. Go to confession often and be bold, be brave, be given absolution and strive with the help of almighty God to sin no more.

Daughter of Christ, also when in confession, before we list our sins and enumerate them, we are recommended to say, " I accuse myself of the following sins"...... because then the devil can never accuse us of those sins again. He cannot hold them against us, since we have accused ourselves of these particular sins. I just found this out three years ago from a sensus fidelium priests homily on proper way to do confession. The path of women child worship that you are following will lead to death and eternal damnation in the lake of fire. Believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. You are saved by grace and not by doing works. You are on a path of idolatry.

In sum, the Church teaches that salvation is a process of becoming holier and holier through time. All of this is a work of grace that God performs in our hearts through faith. Works done in faith are the natural completion of believing in Christ. As we trust and do God’s work, he instills within us more grace so that we may become holier and so be ready to meet him at the end of our life.

    • @26herbs47
      @26herbs47 4 роки тому

@@RockinRobin2 But if you introspect within your own life and are honest about it, you will say that you do not get holier at all. Only God is holy. We are not any holier than what we were 10 years ago. On the contrary our attachment for worldly things has increased. The church can teach what it will, but if the teaching does not align with scriptures then we need to ask tough questions. Why does church teaching not align with scriptures. Is christianity just another religion? Is christianity another way of life like buddhism or is it exclusive like Jesus claimed.
Pauls book of Romans is very clear. We cannot work out our salvation. Salvation is a gift of God. It Is guaranteed to the believer in Jesus Christ. There are no two ways about it. It is not by works. The book of Galatians also states the same. Even the patriarch Abraham was not saved by works but by faith when he believed God.

26 herbs - From the moment that Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit was the moment we became imperfect beings. We need to work at that daily. Working on that everyday is our path to holiness. Just simply stating I have faith in Jesus alone and therefore I am saved by my faith alone is an incorrect assumption. If that was the case why would Adam and Eve even be kicked out of the garden for disobedience? Why couldn’t they have simply stated their faith in God and offered a simple apology for a mistake that made them subject to death and move on? If faith alone saved them then they wouldn’t have been scared, they wouldn’t have cared about the consequences. God would not have had to humble himself to come back as Jesus in the flesh to save mankind if all it took was a blanket statement of faith alone. Matthew would also disagree and says that not everyone enters the kingdom of God with faith alone beware of heretical beliefs.
Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’
I am sure you are familiar with this passage

@Ducky- Yes, I understand but it's their choice to remain anonymous. I believe that was the agreement they asked for that in order to have a presence on social media, that they did not want to be celebrity priests..just humble and working for the salvation of souls. Humility gives them power against Satan and his minions. We have too many instances where celebrity priests have fallen from grace. That's tragic. But for the greater good, they wish to remain under the radar. One thing I would recommend is to download the Auxilium Christianorum app and pray these prayers for all priests who have Our Lady as their Defender. But it can be for yourself as well if you wish to join. Very powerful Prayers!!! Spread the word and God bless you!

@@mrsducky3428, the problem is that once you would somehow identify Fr. A, it would be game over for him, because that would give you all his unpopular opinions in one go. Just search for sermons of Fr. A and build a case against him. The fact that their identities are spread thin and take effort to find and must even then be done sermon by sermon makes it unfeasible now. Of course there is the downside that you see an interesting title, click on it and suddenly it was by some not so favorite priest that you are not so excited about.

Off the subject. The Catholic Church has been persecuted ever since Our Lord walked the earth. It is nothing new now. We as Catholics have come to accept it and remain faithful to Holy Mother the Church
I think that it makes us steadfast and true. We try to remain in the state of sanctifying grace. We know that God loves us very much and remain faithful to Him
We know that He is in charge and we believe that. We know that there is a day of reckoning and that there is a Heaven for the good and that there is hell for the nonbelievers. So tell people this and believe. God bless everyone and don't forget to pray, pray and more prayers. Prayer is our link to God and He deserves to be loved, worshipped and adored.

To Monique Carran . About the Catholic Church being persecuted. Yes it is true. I follow most of the stories. Unfortunately, all the Catholic priests and parishioners around here in Victoria British Columbia do not agree about the persecution that is happening. They are blind or not interested or dont care or something. The common denominator is that they all refuse to follow stories that I have been offering them about the destruction of the Catholic faith including the Catholic Church making way for the introduction of a one world government and one world religion under Satan as boss. What to-do? I do not know.

@@barrysaunders8787, I think everyone must get familiar with the fact that he will eventually die. Some die sooner, some later, some suddenly, some after a protracted illness. The same goes for the world. The social, economic and political systems of the world have not evolved from nothing and are not getting any better. When a culture collapses, or even loses some detail or dimension, it will very rarely if ever recover. When people are suddenly removed from their pleasures and safety, they will not suddenly "find God". That's an entirely Protestant idea, because in Protestantism you only need to "accept the offer of salvation". Only Catholic Tradition contains the ingredients, the knowledge of God, the virtues and the fruits of the Holy Ghost that is required to build a culture and Christian morality. Some Mosaic commandments about sex and procreation will simply not do it, even though the Protestants seem very convinced that it would and Opus Dei is gaming the Church through its innumerable media apostolates, making it think that sexual immorality is the only thing that stops us from having the perfect Church. God's plan for many Christians and saints of the past has not included a pleasant life in a functioning society.

I've seen the statues in the churches and the kneeling pads before them and the candle racks where people light candles and offer them before the statues and they kneel and pray to Mary for hours. If that's not worship then what is it? These repetitive prayers using rosary beads are absolutely vain. The bible strictly condemns making contact with dead people, ( Mary and the saints are dead people, they are not God). People who commit such sins are called mediums and the practice is called spiritism. Strictly forbidden. Please read the scriptures for yourself and apply it to your life. Don't let some priest deceive you. This is very important because your very soul is at stake. The bible says idolators will be cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 21:8).

As much as it's important to emphasise the fact of our fallen state it also leads people to feel condemned. And not good enough for God.
I spent so much of my life tuning away from God because I could never be enough for him. And that was because of constantly been told how sinful we are. The devil will use that to take you away from God.
But as an adult God showed me that he is on my side and no matter how many times a fall I need to run to him not away from from him.
I cannot ever earn my salvation. The only thing I can do is cling to God like a child to a mother so he can protect me from my enemy and build me up in grace and Holiness. But it's not me. It's all God.

I am so grateful that God showed me the way to the Catholic Church in 1995. Unfortunately, I have had nothing but troubles in remaining in one parish, so I would move on and again, I had troubles in the new parish. This has kept happening at every Catholic Church here in Victoria B.C. including the Franciscan house on Joan Crescent here in Victoria. But, I keep going on. I have found one Church that has accepted me in this city.

My current priest at a byzantine rite eastern Church in victoria BC. Refuses to allow me to confess past sins that had happened during my life while I was not a Catholic. He will only hear confessions since my last confession. I may have to find a new Church. That means moving to a new city. WHAT TO DO???

Why don’t you go to confession at St. Andrew’s Cathedral and/or Queen of Peace Parish in Victoria? No need to move to another city.

A general confession is always good, and we should all make them every few years. Sometimes finding another priest for this is good.

When not Catholic, had you already been baptized? If not, and you were baptized when you came into the Catholic Church, then all your sins, original and actual, committed during your life as a non-Catholic were forgiven upon your Baptism. So then, you really only need to confess any sins you committed since Baptism. (Though as Stephanie said, general confession is always good, but just don't worry that your sins while non-Catholic haven't been forgiven if you were Baptized when you came into the Catholic Church). I hope I am making sense!

If you haven't been saved (born again) you are lost. And being born again has nothing to do with infant baptism.

Hello guys, I am in China, and I went to confession after a very long time, but I am not sure if I did it well because the priest language skills in English were limited. I tried to speak slowly and use easily understood words, but I think he may have not understood all details of the sins. Does it still count? Any solution ? Can confession be done online?

If you fully and honestly poured out all your sins, holding nothing back, and the priest fully intended what the Church intends and properly followed the required form, then have faith. Christ himself is in the Confessional and the priest himself is merely the vessel through whom He acts.

It wouldnt matter if priest didnt understand anything more than that you wanted to confess St John Vianney said it is Jesus on the cross you are confessing to ( by divine mystery of the sacrament) he understands you fully . The absolution he gives does it matter to you if it was in latin , french Chinese or English no its power does not depend on which language same with your confession

@@androidrandom9979 It's not Jesus, it's just a man and you don't need a priest. You can go directly to Jesus without telling your sins to a man who probably has more secret sins than you do.

@Simon de Montfort John 20:23 is not saying the Catholic priests have the authority to forgive sins. It is saying that Christian disciples have the authority to declare what sins have been forgiven.
A born again (saved) Christian has the ability to go directly to the throne of God and confess our sins to Jesus. We do not need an intermediary.

@Claudia Maigret Considering the billions of dollars the Roman Catholic Church has been forced to pay out for child abuse cases, I think I'm correct in assuming a lot of the priests were gulty of bigger sins that the penitence. Whereas Jesus was sinless and only He can forgive sins which He will do if you ask Him directly as we read in the Bible: Luke 5:20 and Luke 7:48. If He forgave sins when He was on earth He could certainly do the same in heaven. He's God.

    • @johnbrowne3950
      @johnbrowne3950 4 роки тому +1

@Claudia Maigret I agree with most of what you've said and certainly not all priests are perverts. And, of course, you also have the right to believe what you are taught in your religion.
