That’s why Shirasaya swords are also referred to as “Grass Cutters”. I have a few, they are some of my favorite type of sword. I have some1060 - 1095 carbon steal, and two actual Tamahagane steel, handmade, hand forged, clay tempered, & folded multiple times, made by legitimate Japanese katana smiths. They are some of my prized swords out of my collection (& I have a very large collection), I just love the simplicity and wood worked casing of them so much. The octagonal style wood handle and sheath is my favorite, they look the most legit and badass, like the ones mostly used in Japanese modern and early era films/anime’s. As someone who has been practicing Iaido, principles to Bushido, & most of Japan’s cultural practices as a whole in general for a decade now (currently only 25); I was very happy to see that you actually used all the proper names and seemed to actually have some understanding of what you were talking about. I see a lot of people on here (the internet in general) make similar content and have zero clue what they are talking about, which is toxic, because your planting false information to a lot of people who will only know that false information. That’s why it’s always important to know what your talking about, or don’t talk about it like you do. Otherwise it could piss a lot of people off that do lol. Glad to see you knew your stuff my guy👌🏻✌🏻I’m sure I’ll be buying some katana from your site in the future to add to my collection. 👍🏻✌🏻
Good video, One thing though that is mentioned in this and many other videos out there. A harder edge is not to make it less prone to chipping, on the contrary, it will happen more frequently compared to a softer edge. What a harder edge gives you is the ability to hold its sharpness for longer.
Wow I love Katana Samurai Sword It’s a beautiful reminder less is more with a perfect example a simple two colours design the black & polished steel is a nice complement
Great question! 1045 has a lower carbon content from 1060 and 1095. Generally, a higher-end samurai sword is going to be made of either 1060 or 1095 carbon steel. Thanks so much for watching and for your question!
Thin steel? Pretty sure you mean softer steel than other high carbon varieties. Also getting a blade that is not only laminated(different steel grades for the core and meat of the sword) will be quite expensive, you cant even truly verify you were given what you wanted without breaking the blade in 2 to see the inner workings. A 1045 katana blade is plenty for most people and will cut through stainless steel swords like butter.

I completely understand. At KarateMart.com, we have swords in all price ranges. If you are new to swords and want something that won’t break the bank, I’d probably suggest a 1045 carbon steel blade. If you’d like to ask our customer service for more details, please call or email us anytime. Have a great weekend!
We do carry those sometimes, but lately we’ve been really focusing on finding really high quality swords which tend to cost a little more than people want to spend. So, the 3 sets end up being really expensive. In the past, we’ve sold less expensive 3 sets that did sell well because they were cheap, but we discontinued them because the quality wasn’t as good.
Yes, it is! We carry very few swords that aren’t full-tang nowadays. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our customer service team anytime. Thanks so much for watching!
I am looking for a Katana similar to the ones used by Japanese nco in ww2, a useable weapon, not a wall hanging or museum artefact. What do you suggest ?
If you watch my video where I put a $200 sword through some pretty tough trials, you’ll see that a 1060 carbon steel sword actually holds up pretty well. If you want something tougher than that, get your hands on a 1095 steel or tool steel blade. There are even some nice spring steel blades that hold up well. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks man! Yeah, we carry swords in all price ranges, so hopefully you can find what you are looking for. But, if you have any questions, definitely call our customer service team. Thanks so much for watching!

That’s an excellent question! It depends what you are using it for. Our entry level katana start around $100 and have 1045 carbon steel blades. That would be sufficient for 90% of people. But, if you are looking for something a little nicer, we have 1060 carbon steel that are priced a little bit higher, then 1095, spring steel, tool steel, etc. If you’d like to know more about them, check out my newer sword video titled “Sword Buyers Guide”. Is there any swords made out of spring steel inside the shop? I looked at the website and can’t seem to find any. I’m looking for a practice sword for one of my friends. Don’t get me wrong, 1060 carbon steel is great. But it’s not really the thing that you should be use for competitive sparing.
Hi Helen! Normally, we carry a lot of spring steel swords, but over the past year it’s been very difficult to keep them in stock. I’m sure we will have more soon. Thanks so much for watching!
That sword isn’t really meant to be sharpened. It is sold as an unsharpened sword to be used for training. It is made of carbon steel, so it could be sharpened using a belt sander, but I would have a trained professional do that. Thanks so much for watching!

I was expecting the swords to be at least $500 and up, but the prices are way lower when I looked at your site. Very interesting. I trust that they're good swords, but I tend to see low priced swords more as novelty swords, not suitable for fighting, but more for display. Are your swords actually able to be fought with and hold up?. Also, I'm all about traditional swords, but I absolutely love unique ones, they're just so cool to me. The 4th one you shown, I love the blade, though I'm not the biggest fan of the orange sheath. I'm curious, if I wanted to, can I use a different sheath from the one my katana came with?.
You said it perfectly, Connor! You just need to know what you are looking for when buying a sword. I look for a few specific things…the metal, the ray skin, the way it is folded, etc. So many people are deceived by other UA-camrs. Thanks so much for watching!

I really appreciate that! Thank you so much for your kind comment! I hope you have a great week!
will you make a video for the Black Ronin Samurai Sword
That's a great question! The Black Ronin Samurai Sword is not one of our most high-end swords, but it is popular because it has an unsharpened blade and can be used for practice. Thank you so much for watching!
Hello sir is it really sharp and are they good for real combat .
Each sword that we sell on KarateMart.com is different, but if there is a specific sword you would like to know about, please feel free to contact our customer service team using the phone number or email address on the website. Thanks so much for watching!
Would love to have a sword but do not know much about them just looking for something my pocket will not cry about.
I completely understand. At KarateMart.com, we have swords in all price ranges. If you are new to swords and want something that won’t break the bank, I’d probably suggest a 1045 carbon steel blade. If you’d like to ask our customer service for more details, please call or email us anytime. Have a great weekend!
Have u got a 3 set with full tang and blade in red stick hen mate
We do carry those sometimes, but lately we’ve been really focusing on finding really high quality swords which tend to cost a little more than people want to spend. So, the 3 sets end up being really expensive. In the past, we’ve sold less expensive 3 sets that did sell well because they were cheap, but we discontinued them because the quality wasn’t as good.
is the Shirasaya Full tang? I assume it is, but cant find it written anywhere.
I have the urge to buy a katana so I came here to look at what’s decent for a good price
Thanks man! Yeah, we carry swords in all price ranges, so hopefully you can find what you are looking for. But, if you have any questions, definitely call our customer service team. Thanks so much for watching!
How’s the quality on these blades? Just ordered a Damascus blade katana
Awesome! Thank you so much for your order! At KarateMart.com, we carry swords at many different price points, so the quality of the blade will be dependent on the sword you purchase. If you have any questions about specific swords, please feel free to contact our customer service team using the phone number or email address on the website. Thank you so much for your order and for watching!
Shout out from Philippines.
Thanks so much for watching from the Philippines! I really appreciate it!
Im thinking about getting the carbon steel couse it looks so clean.
I really like that one too. Thanks so much for watching!
Can you show us the Moonveil or possibly nagakiba next time?
Hi! I’m not familiar with either of those katana. If they are specific to the Elder Scrolls video games, then they are probably officially licensed and we like to manufacture a lot of our own stuff. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Is delivery to the UK possible ? Thanks a lot
Hi! We do ship internationally, but we have to check the laws in a country before shipping anything there. Please visit www.KarateMart.com/international for more details. Thanks so much for watching!
I wonder if you also have Kenshin Himura's Reverse Blade Katana?
I’m pretty sure we are sold out currently, but we do carry some pretty awesome reverse blade katana. Thanks so much for watching!
Am referring to the first sword the unsharpened 1045 steel
you gonna order it? im thinking about it
what would be a good starter Katana? around $300 price! tnx
Thanks so much for watching!
Great review
Thank you Joe! I really appreciate that!

What's the range of the prices of high quality katana blade ? ..
Hi Avi, it completely depends on the sword. We have katana in all price ranges on KarateMart.com. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks so much for watching!
and how would I sharpen the first blade?
That sword isn’t really meant to be sharpened. It is sold as an unsharpened sword to be used for training. It is made of carbon steel, so it could be sharpened using a belt sander, but I would have a trained professional do that. Thanks so much for watching!

Would these swords be worthy in battle
Hi! If you watch my video where I test out a $20 sword vs a $200 sword, you can see how one of them holds up. I can’t imagine ever needing a sword for a real sword fight, but most of the swords we sell (with the exception of a few decorative ones) would hold up pretty well. Thanks so much for watching!
Can u shipping sword in india???
How much katana cost average? But have a good quality Please reply
Hi Mohit! We carry katana in all price points. If you are looking for an entry level sword with 1045 carbon steel, they run between $99 and $200, but if you are looking for something nicer, they can be quite a bit more expensive. Where to buy this samurai sword?
All of these swords are available at www.Karatemart.com
where is it ?
@@Karatemart You're right. I do look for specific things in a katana, so I'll be sure to pay attention.
Also, looking at the comments, and your replies, I really appreciate your honesty.
Good video too, I'll be sure to keep your site in mind when I buy katanas. Thank you!.
