Today, at 57, i finally understood that asking doesn't mean 'set in stone/never gonna happen' or either saintly or virtuous. it simply meant that i should silently accept that i shouldn't have dreams or ambitions. I have a lot yet to learn. Lesson number 1 is 'ask'. Rejection is not easy but i will keep asking. Thank you so very much.
True, but one wonders Jack, when is it that an amount of continual "no"s have you at a place where you see clearly a "sign" of those "no" words that you are going down a wrong path in life?

JK Rowling was rejected numerous times before someone actually read her manuscript and decided to publish the "Harry Potter"...Makes me wonder how all those who had rejected her feel now...
So true. I was brainwashed by my mother to never ask for anything. If I even asked for a little sympathy out of desperation she would list all the reasons why she couldn't (wouldn't ) help and how bad I was to go on a trip where the coach broke down etc . Then she would list all the family members who 'could' not help...it was also totally Wrong to accept help from anyone outside the family even if they offered without me asking. If you prayed for anything she tells us God says No. It's taken me over 50 years to realise that she does this because she cannot bear to be made to feel uncomfortable. My needing help now and again makes her feel guilty because she is a Narcissist. Jesus himself told us to keep asking and that anything we ask from God to believe we have it and we will. Mark 11 vs 24. We only need to ask God once but people maybe more.... JK Rowling had her first book rejected 12 times.
Mandy G My mom was also a narcissist and I am working through all the trips she played on me throughout my life. She also took my voice from me and made me afraid of everything and everyone. I respected her as my mom but I was relieved when she died recently.
Watch credit repair videos. Start with Brandon Weaver. Then go get a decent job. Then don't spend beyond your means.. save money, whatever amount is for you to figure out. Then make a goal to get out of your nasty af attic. I get it. I lived in a shed behind the house with no running water. It was awful. Roaches and all. I got out. You can too.
