Does that mean you can be a lefty and righty at the same time
like the great gordie howe
I was thinking why not use this. For ambi's like me it would be an advantage
I actually used to mod the blades on some Sherwood's to straighten them out and used them in games and ended up scoring from both sides
does that mean you will be doinf a backhand and a wristshot at the same time
@@iaintnomanstealer yes !!!!
This iS what I love about this channel. good hockey tutorials and great entertaining videos
I love how hockey players respect the past of this great game, it is unlike any other sport/athlete!!
I totally agree
My first stick was like that wooden with no curve lol
Brayden Morin same
Brayden Morin mine too
Brayden Morin Same
I ref the 4-6 year old players every now and then, and I've seen so many flat curves
Still prefer it
skating with vintage skate maybe?
thats the next video ;)
you and the hockey movement----hockey stereotypes
use anti fog. you can find one in any swimming store.they use it for goggles
so when your plastique cage get fog ?
How to hockey already did it
for the next nhl all star game they should make the players use those sticks since there always changing things up
in about 1977 northland made a stick called the "cannon". Blade had a heel that extended back about an inch or so behind the shaft. would like to see and try one of those. never got the chance as they were only made one year
The similar looking "Northland Glass Fused" wood stick I have here has some slight curve and shoots right. By curve it is way less than a modern blade. I showed up with it at an adult league game and folks said it really needs to be on the display wall and not used. One does not have that big spring effect like a modern stick. But if you shoot both left and right a flat stick might be tried. It is hard today to find a flat blade for todays stick
Fun video. I also would love to see you use some old-time hockey skates too. Gotta remember though, if you spend your whole life with composites and banana curves, that's what you're going to be used to and that's what you'll perform best with. Same goes with this stick and the guys who spent their whole lives playing with it.
We're working on that as we speak!
This is great! Loving the content 😂 The acting was great and so was the commentary!
This totally awesome!!! Love it!
I was in my third year of minor hockey before we were allowed to use curved blades. I still have one of my wood sticks from the mid 1970's
I played youth hockey in the 70's, in order to hit top corners you had to develop wrist strength and technique. Same with stick handling. Today's sticks with their flex and curves had taken both strength and technique out of shooting and stick handling. The first sticks I used did not have a curve, so we had to develop strength and technique. When I did switch to a curve, my forehand was a lot better. No improvement or decline in stick handling because of the prior use of a straight blade.
I’m started playing as a child in the 70s too. I’m going to disagree with what you said regarding strength and technique being taken out of shooting and stick handling. It still requires strength and technique. Just in a different way.
The players of today are not only more skilled than ever they are bigger, stronger and faster than ever.
Great vid buddy keep it up
Chris, how about a fan meet up? Maybe rent a sheet of ice and have a workshop/game with fans?
super sweet stick! right up there with the Gretzky aluminum
Jimmy Williams lemieux is better
Ahh...I love hockey...👍
Nice video @Hockey Tutorial
The first stick I played with was a Northland, no curve.
I’m surprised that stick didn’t just disintegrate after all those years. The wood must have been dry as a bone! I actually have a Northland Custom Pro in my studio. I used it as a kid.
I love this vid because my dad always talks about using a straight stick when he was a kid and how he doesn't like how you cant get them anymore he says he likes them better because he likes to switch hands.
My father still has lumber hockey sticks (curved) have never played anything else. Really want to hockey with some new sticks now
What about a lefty and a righty stick combined? Like with curve going both ways?
Epcot lp so you mean straight.
raywuf No he means like two blades. One going left, the other going right.

You deserve more subs tbh
Why You have sweden T-shirt
I use to use a straight blade it's easier to stick handle I stick handled through guys so easily with a stick like that.
Sweden!!!!!!!!
I have a coach that will only use a wood stick with no curve.
where do you get that stick
Xzander & Tyson Hockey i
what?
No wonder why they havent had the all star game until sticks had curves
The First All Star Game was in 1934 as a benefit for Ace Bailey a player whose career was tragically ended by an Eddie Shore Body check. You may mean skills competition, but watching a game from the 1950's was like watching an All star game every night with different teams each time.
the pros used to make their own curves by heating up the blade
Why did one guy have a Sweden shirt
Because he likes Sweden.
But they heated the blades and made them have curves
Your back hander with that stick is harder than my slaps hot
Still better than me
Try the skate you’l see why there was 6 nhl team
The stick is older than him
And my friends wonder why I blame the stick, my only stick is like that lamo
Could of just used stamkos curve😂
Another great video!! But be careful......Albert Lee might see this and blow another gasket cause you used an accent. a white accent...... LOL!!!!
