  • Here we have a brand new Labrie Expert 2000 manual side load body on an Autocar ACX cab and chassis! This particular truck has been setup with a custom chamber behind the hopper for the separate collection of glass bottles, as is required in much of the Pacific Northwest. This chamber is loaded via a small trough on the side of the body, which raises up and dumps into an opening in the top of the body once filled. This assembly operates in a similar manor to the old over-the-top curbsort recycling trucks of the 90's and early 2000's. Watch here as this beauty handles a residential curbside recycling route!
Huge thanks to the driver for allowing me to shoot some video of his awesome truck!

Nice video! It has the distinct CNG sound to it! Man, that driver knows how to hustle!

My first thought was that this would be another boring Labrie MSL that I'd only watch 2 minutes of then continue on with my day. You have successfully proven me wrong. First off, the driver is pretty speedy, he's really hauling ass and getting 'er done. On top of that, you have that really fast tipper, slamming the carts back. At first I thought you sped the footage up! And the glass cycles were really cool to see, I don't think I've seen many of those, so you treated us with two! Really cool how the driver operated the tipper and the glass bucket at the same time, a lot going on in that clip. Excellent job, Bryn.

How come almost all the trucks that collect in portland are single axle , small streets ? Nice video Bryn .

How come glass is collected seperately on trash day in Oregon instead of people taking it to recycling centers like I do in California?

I like Portland's rules with the glass separated from the other recycling - you take away those problems with material quality at the MRF when glass is pressed against paper and cardboard. In a way it's an inconvenience worrying about an extra waste stream, but on the bright side you can squash up the remaining recycling tightly without worrying about sorting issues. Is Portland the only state up there which regulates glass segregation? Also are all the recycle trucks much like these single pass vehicles with the bucket loading or do some areas have separate trucks for comingle and glass?

I actually didn't know that. So how does the glass work and why does it have to be kept separate

Great stuff as always! That glass bucket was fun to watch, think this was the first time I've seen one in action. That tipper was pretty quick as well! That driver could move as well!
