- This winter, we will launch a new series of videos on the channel. Join us on our quest to try and catch the holy grail of pike fishing, a fish that is unique in both length and weight: a northern pike that exceeds the 20kg mark!
In Episode 1 we are forced to look for any clear water that is left to play a game we havent done in a while: slow trolling big baits above deep, clear water.

In ireland a 10KG pike is a dream for most pike anglers, a 20KG is nearly impossible to imagine, I am personally still trying to get one over 10lb !
They're out there lad. I'm sure the Erne and Shannon systems would have a 44lber in them

Been fishing for them since 1975 ,,,no 20kg ones but a few 12kg ,,best bait a live ones ,,if allowed 😊
Aaah the good old live bait day :P 12kg is still a very respectable fish!
Always use electric I find the petrol does tend to spook some fish rather that the quiet approach

Going to try these lures in spring if they let me troll🤞 would you use electric or 4stroke? Reckon 9m… My mate had a 21kg Pike there in the late 90s
21kg that’s a beast 👏
Somewhere halfway trough the video we started using only electric engine, as the idle of the 4 stroke made the boat go too fast and the counter with the electric engine was using just as much power as using the electric engine solo going forward
Interested in the speed you troll at and the time of year you find best. I’m sure the big fish live on 3lb trout and feed rarely. The fish I mention is in Nevs book caught by Rob Dixon.

Als je een electrisch gestarte outboard hebt kun je daar een 12V lood accu mee laden (of bepaalde LiFePo4 accu’s zoals de 12V80 Pro en 120 Pro van Rebelcell)
Via de dynamo van jouw outboard dus ;)

Yes, vooral Humminbird. Beste mapping (Autochart!) / Side Imaging en connectiviteit met andere apparatuur.
Just so you know in france we can't use three hooks on one lure except for sea fishing good luck if you start trying with one less hook

@@whitelabelfishing it dates back from napoleon he wanted to make poaching more difficult for this species beacause it is really good in the plate. That's also for protecting the species. Now we can only take pike from 60 to 80 cm back home if we want to eat pyke
how many 10+ kg pike have you cought (estimation)
I wonder how many 10+kg pike you have to catch for every 20+kg.
Very few waters have such big pikes to begin with so its going to be very different numbers but its very high.
Let me dive in the archives tomorrow 🤣 It is in the triple digits but I stopped tracking a couple years ago and only kept a couple statistics. Years back I kept track of every meter+ pike but that document started to fade a little over time ;(
what speed are you slow trolling guys?
In this video around 2km/h but you can go slower with the baits we used
@@whitelabelfishing use trolling motor or engine? 😁 on my boat can't get slower than 3.5 km but probably need adjustment on idle rev adjustment

I read the Doomsday book of mammoth pike a few weeks ago, and it claims that there were monster pike over 30 kg in Ireland back in the 60's. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? Or is it complete garbage?
I lean towards thinking it was all a bit exaggerated… with all the modern knowledge and tech you hardly see any get above 20kg… Imagine adding another 10kg on top of that… I am in doubt 🤔

Its mostly rumour , though theres records of a 41KG pike being caught in lough derg during the 1800s, these were different times the fish were huge and were able to grow to such sizes because they didnt have people hunting them
@@kodiwtf it would make sense perhaps that the pike on average grew larger due to less pressure from anglers, and more food!
@@PG_FISHING I personally think so , maybe not to 90lb of course , but theres no denying theres been a decline in Irish pike since the eastern europeans came over and destroyed the waters for years and years, Its hard to even get a 20lber nowdays if its not out of a stocked or private water
