This was our main way of bonding, as he spent most of his time on the computer and provided me with my own setup as well. Now that he's been gone a long time because he took his own life, whenever I listen to this music it's the only thing that makes me feel a certain kind of comfort and the only thing that makes me feel connected to him without pain. Man, this game knew how to screw with you. Think about it: they start you off in the most typical, bog standard fantasy game cliche start ever, the cherry fantasy woods with bandits and spiders and quests about apples and junk. But then they throw you a curveball as this pristine, happy little zone is destroyed in a cataclysm, and you're immediately transported to a deoressing, abysmal post apocalyptic zone. Even the music is nearly a complete 180. If it weren't for that contrast, you'd never care about pre-searing ascalon, but because of the genius way it transitions, you never want to leave.

We then spent a few hours in presearing until unknowingly we did the quest and left... only to be greeted by a miserable horrible ruined ascalon which nearly made us quit the game... took us about a week to get to yaks bend where the adventure and excitement kinda picked up again. We still had a lot of fun adventures running to droks and discovering the chest runs outside droks which let us get our armor at level 12 or something and we felt like we broke the game and that was not intended at all hahaha. Eventually my friend quit and I ended up going through the rest of the game alone and even play high end stuff like doa hm to this day. I actually enjoyed the Charr when they were savage, fierce, evil antagonists as opposed to the redeemable kitty cats that GW2 turned them into. The Charr in EotN were at least believable, as you worked alongside a rogue/outcast band of Charr that deviated away from the main group.
I cannot describe how much GW2 failed me. It got rid of everything that made GW1 unique and instead copied WOW. I tried so hard to enjoy GW2, but everything from pvp to story to group combat felt blan compared to gw1 and faction wars, pvp, and hero wars. Not to mention the music was awful compared to these masterpieces
@yoyepo91 could not disagree more. gw2 is nothing like wow lol. Clearly you don't play alot of gw2. Gw1 is a classic but the point of gw2 wasn't to be exactly like gw1.
@@Mori72420 i played plenty of gw1, plenty of wow, and played gw2 for years. The issue is not that its “not exactly like gw1” the issue is it strayed from the things that worked in gw1 and instead, yes, copied WOW. Dungeons were anticlimatic and everyone was just speed running them. Most monsters i run into easy pickings for me to solo. It’s wonderful to see Ascalon in it’s former beauty before the Charr caused the Searing and polluted the kingdom with their machines of progress and flames of war.
Guild wars presearing music is amazing
This is what pre-searing looks like at lvl 1-20 ♡
I'm not trying to be rude, but... duh? Level 20 is the max. How else would it look?
@@zigguratjones6458 no judgment although my comment was kinda dry. Pre searing is one of my fondest memories of gw1
@@zigguratjones6458 LDOA, Legendary Defender of Ascalon pun in here :D even if it is or not intended.
Oh my goodness who are you and why bless me with such a beautiful video. Nostalgia and peace. :)
Thank you for uploading this!
Plus qu'un mois.. Guild Wars 1 me manque tellement..
Je crois qu'on est toute une commu de nostalgiques de cette époque ^^
@@loic5142 Ouais j'ai repris enfin ... 😁
I just found this exactly 1 year after you uploaded it :D thank you so much for this! It does not only bring back so many good memories it also helps me relax, which is much needed right now.
You’re providing a public service with these videos. Any chance you’ll make a video for pre searing catacombs?
Thanks!! Lovely to hear that! And the Catacombs -- that's no problem, my friend :) I have three wishes to fulfill before (Bahdok Caverns, Resplendent Makuun with Prince Bokka's beautiful palace, and the Abaddon's Gate mission), but I'll do the Catacombs right after those, so expect your video in four days, on Thursday :)
@@Paradise7D Yes!!! You’re a miracle worker! Thank you so much for doing this! Your videos bring me back to my first days in Guild Wars.
Perfect. Thank you Sandra T
Back to darkwood. Thanks! Have a good day jajajaja
Over time, the name King Doric kept popping in my head. Never could remember from where, til I read this description.
Or Prince Rurik.
The MVP
Thank you so much for making this. 🙂
love it !
Back again.
Simpler times.
Thats right
have to rise up the volume, otherwise i like it
GW2 trying to retcon the Charr was probably one of the worst lore rewrites that made the story so irredeemable.
When i played gw2, as much as i wanted to like it, I always felt like i was playing a dumbed down version of wow made too easy for me to fail. Dungeons were anticlimatic and everyone was just speed running them. Most monsters i run into easy pickings for me to solo. Storyline (elder dragons) so braindead an 8 year old could have come up with it. I couldn’t feel attached to anything.
In gw1 just the searing alone made me feel more attached to the world than anything gw2 ever did
@@yoyepo91 I like gw1 music a lot, but to call gw2 music bad is a travesty. Jeremy Soul brought his best work out for the guild wars series in BOTH installments
whats this song called? 10:00
