I've had the Kabar spork in my daypack for several years. It's really all you need for emergencies, when you find yourself away from camp and needing an eating utensil. We all always have a regular knife of some type with us anyway. The fiberglass reinforced nylon is really more than just "plastic".
Outdoor etiquette at its finest lol. I've used the Kabar for a couple years and it's held up really well. I prefer the separate knife and fork, it makes for easier eating.
I've had a few all in one eating utensils including one from a well known manufacturer that broke as I was pulling it out of the pouch I kept it in in my truck. I think being in the heat and cold day in and day out in my truck weakened the "unbreakable" plastic. I always go back to the real knife, fork and spoon sets that I bought at Walmart years ago in the camping section for something like $1.59. All three utensils are full sized stainless implements. When I found out Walmart had discontinued them I scoured all the nearby stores and bought the last 5 sets I could find. I keep one in the glovebox of my truck and another in a maxpedition pouch full of useful items that also resides in my truck and goes with me on trips when I'm in other vehicles. I also keep a set in my backpack and the remaining two are spares that live in the bottom drawer of my desk. Nothing beats real full sized eating utensils.
My Kabar spork arrived today.. First impressions... WHAT A PEICE OF JUNK.. Second impressions.. This can replace the metal spoon I use and it won't scratch my cheap nonstick frypan.. The spoon is to deep to eat with comfortably.. but its a good size to make instant coffee with.. Even though the blade is plastic.. It is quite sharp.. Final Impressions.. After a few minor modifications (the depth of the spoon), this will be added to my camping gear.. Keep the videos coming Brian..
Hi Bryan . Another great video. But, I don't really know which part I really enjoyed more ...watching you eat a great looking steak or testing the utensils out. A friend gave me a Ka-bar Spork..use it all the time for my lunch edc.
As ALWAYS Brian (or is it Bryan?) - - TOP NOTCH VID, loved the comparison & the 3 types of food you chose for your demo's. The Brian Adams reference at 14:47 was entertaining. (We Brians & Bryans are taking over the world.) JUST A THOUGHT: With the Gerber Compleat and the plastic spatula that you tried to cut with, you were trying to cut the fat off while it was sitting on top of the steak. Would it have sliced through the fat any better, if you had tried to cut it on the plate itself? Anyway, FANTASTIC VID, love all of the elements you include in all of your videos Sir!
I'm just wanting a spoon or spork to eat tuna/sardines on the go. What's the best one for keeping in a small handheld cooler. I use a 6 can cooler as a lunchbox.
A lot of outdoor concerts and similar events will only allow plastic cutlery. The Kabar gives you what looks to be a reasonably functional eating knife that will pass the security check. For camping use, a Light My Fire titanium spork is great as the spoon and fork are on opposite ends so they don't compromise each other. They're half the price of the Kabar,. Add a dedicated knife.
I like that Ka-Bar tactical spork. I just use spoons, and forks from dollar tree in my camping and bugout kits, for $1 each I get 3 pieces of silverware. Not too big on serrated blades, but then again I always carry at least my old timer pocket knife for cuttin stuff.
I feel like for the price and practicality of the KA BAR, its a winner for me. Generally if you're out camping you will have a sharper hunting knife with you as well, but if you don't then your still good. Great review!
I think all 3 r good n some sort of way also Aitor makes a great set pathfinder but going back to ur 3 picks i think TOPS fork it because it's so compact then gerber because of it being so versatile ?
I am a Tops fan boy but cutting your finger twice puts me off but obviously it’s best for steak but you still need a fork. I think all 3 would work well together for different foods. Great video Brian, something a bit different and you have now got me thinking that I need to invest in all of these, especially the KA Bar that I could carry at work.
I bought four light my fire fork/spoon combos, all of them broke after only a few uses. I bought the human gear version, and I’ve had no issues with it. The Gerber is definitely very cool. The K-Bar is convenient because of its size.
Sure love watching a vid with someone enjoying a meal! LOL Good topic though since many of us have versions of these in our bags/vehicles. Thanks for the testing. God Bless.
I recently bought a good quality hobo knife.. Dont know if they are still in production but I was happy to find out that its a Kabar.. Love your reviews Brian.. but My hobo knife blows those 3 out of the water..
PS I watched this review to see the Kabar spork in action.. I will probably get one as a light weight bugout bag addition.. Lets face it.. anyone thats watching your videos has a good collection of other knives lol.. Keep the reviews coming Brian..
Great video comparison between the 3 of them! Hard to get a size comparison when researching online before purchasing. I have the ka-bar spark and it looked a tad bigger on the screen then it did in the hand. I like the gerber setup as I always have a knife on me and seems like it would work for two people in a pinch for simple meals. The tops I'm having a hard time processing the functionality verse price point. I love all my tops knives however I do believe they overshot that product a touch for what it's intended use is. Maybe if they were able to split the fork and knife and make them nest together to fit in the sheath it would be a good thing. Also that bottle opener hole is a real safety issue that needs to be addressed. For me the gerber takes the win on these 3. Thanks for sharing!
Survival On Purpose I've been watching in the shadows for awhile now. I must say it's refreshing to see other survival gear being shown other than knives. There is only so much batoning one can handle. I do agree your content on knives has its place on demonstrating to the viewers. However it is nice to see the other products in the survival world. I enjoy watching your videos 👍🏻!!
I think that Gerber in this case is the best one plus one should always have his pocket knife and belive me when I say that most of the restaurant I have visited their knife are freaking dull and you struggle with the cut so I end up using my own knife and simple as that
Iv'e given up...too big, too small, too short, too long, too serrated, not serrated enough, too wide too narrow etc. I just raided the kitchen for all I need. Knife, fork, carving knife, tongs, teaspoon and spoon.
Having separate utensils is important. How about a pouch with real fork, spoon, and a short knife? That TOPS thing is nuts, btw. No way I would be eating with something that had a sharpened knife for a handle.
The Kabar spork is too narrow and to deep for anyone mouth. If they widen the width it might work given the same depth. If food sticks to it like refried beans you have to turn the spork upside down and try to lick it out. Inconvenient. The rest of the design is good but this is a DEAL BREAKER IMO.
They all suck. I never seen anyone review what I believe to be the best eating tool there is. The Kershaw spork. They have a big and little one. It is without a doubt the very best outdoor eating utensil there is. It's the most comfortable and sturdily built piece there is available in the world. It's also the absolute cheapest. Bar bone.
@@papimaximus95 I looked it up. It would be absolutely perfect if it was stainless steel. I know plastic is good for weight reduction though. But I like the stainless due to it's heat resistance as I have dropped my spork in the fire before lol the titanium would be good if it was thicker. But it's a little too flimsy for my taste. I should be able to eat ice cream from the container with out it bending on me lol. If it does not do that I dont want it for any of my gear. I like robustness. And for the most part all sporks are a good spoon but not a good fork or vice versa. With the kershaw is a total complete spoon and fork on the same thing it's super tough as well. And again. Is cheaper than the UCO. If they made that uco in stainless I'd get it for sure.
@@papimaximus95 for the price function and quality it is the best. The only problem anyone could have with it is the weight. Which really isnt that much. In those other three areas it is the best on the planet for sure. They also make a big and small version. And they come in a variety or colors. Cant beat it.
I must say that you can Fork-It on the TOPS tool! The worst design ever!!! A knife on the opposite end of a Spork. Great way to cut yourself for sure. Best advice is go to Dollar Tree and for two dollars you can but a cheap spoon and fork that works just fine.
What a load of rubbish. Introducing all high quality stainless steel, well designed, well engineered and manufactured Roxon 4 in 1 mini BBQ Combo Tool set or Roxon 6 in 1 BBQ Multi tool. All coming from excellent manufacturing from China, Made in China. And same goes to Roxon S8O2 coming with variety of interchangeable blade designs which make Leatherman load of crap.

Outdoor etiquette at its finest lol. I've used the Kabar for a couple years and it's held up really well. I prefer the separate knife and fork, it makes for easier eating.

I'm still using my Army mess kit with the 3 utensils. Still works after all these years. 🤷🏻♂️ Great video though!
Thanks
i guess Im quite off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream new series online ?
Great video, Brian you're really upping your game with the different types of videos you've been putting out lately. Great presentation. 👏🏼👍🏼

That's what I call an honest and entertaining test ^^

You must have had the LMF titanium sporks a LONG time. They are around
$20 now.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Unlike the plastic LMF sporks, they don't break. So yes, they may have gone up, it has been close to a decade since I bought mine.
With which spoon does the soup taste best with? (philosophical question) 😁
Good question!
Have a couple of the Kabar spork, wish the spork end was a little bigger. A runner up is the Kabar chop sticks!
I want to get some of those too
I bought the chow pale by out door edge is the best 👌 19.99 plus tax at cable's try it

so does that mean that the tops is a true set of "eating irons" ?
not a set ;-)

I don’t know. It is a decent neck knife for those “you never know when a bowl of chili will show up” situations.
