- Did you know before Southpaw there was Ribbie and Roobarb? Southpaw made his MLB debut on June 13, 2004 with the hopes of getting kids out to the ballpark and entertain fans in attendance.
Southpaw has since developed his own style, always dressing on theme from his outfits to his shoes. He also has developed an anti-bullying campaign called "Southpaw Strikes Out Bullying" and was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2022.
Learn more about the beginnings of one most beloved MLB mascots and what he is up to now in this edition of Origin Stories, presented by @Rate_Official .

Love me southpaw
can southpaw play? might as well get him in there.
Southpaw Sox
When I was a kid, there were no mascots. There were no merry-go-rounds, games, or other nonsense. All we got was baseball, and that was all we wanted -- except for fireworks when a Sox got a home run.
I hate mascots, and all other distractions. Just give me the game.
Kids love southpaw and that’s all that matters
Good thing no one cares what you did or didn’t have. The point is people love southpaw even if you don’t.
@@Justobserving-f6x I suppose you enjoy it when a mascot blocks your view of the game intentionally? It has happened to me at minor league games. I paid to see ballplayers, not mascots.
