@@sslip you get more storage space and significantly less weight with the Ultralite when compared to the Dobinsons. All their drawers now come bed lined as standard, which is why they are $1,199 shipped to your door now. If you don't want that, give them a call.
i wish they still offered the kits.. the larger universal kit cost well over 2200 bucks and frankly puts it out of reach for a lot of people. and was it always SMH overland website?
This is such a cool idea! A semi-DIY system for those that don’t want to buy a fully built system or fully build their own system! It’s like the IKEA solution to overlanding storage! Very awesome! Nice job! 👍
that is an amazing product fellas , You need to some how get selling these in Australia , they would sell like hot cakes , also some marine carpet covering them always looks smart
Hi, I have a 2021 4Runner and really like the drawer system with sleeper extension. Can you create more videos showing the details of sleeper system on how it deploys and what kind of support it has?. I searched through the website and UA-cam and did not see any pictures or information about it. (There is one picture of the bed extension, but no information of the support mechanism.) Thanks
Do you have plans or an Ultralite system for the 'ever popular' 2010 Jeep Liberty (okay, maybe it's not THAT popular, but it's all I've got ;). If the drawers aren't too tall, I wouldn't need a slide out for my fridge, I would strap it on top. Thanks!!!
Genuine question. The drawer slides can be installed unevenly like that without issue? One hanging out a half inch and the other sitting flush? That doesn't affect them locking or anything? Thanks.
Quick question, on a 5th GEN 4runner can the middle row seats still recline any at all with the drawer system in place or is it limited to the full upright position? Great video, thanks for sharing.
@@SamAminisam on the one we designed for the 100 series we specifically made sure it was higher than the 2nd row so that you could add a sleeping platform!
Would love to see a kit for the Hummer H3. I know they're out of production, but I'm finding NOBODY makes a drawer system for those. Cargo area is very close in dimension to an FJ Cruiser, but anchor points and seat angle are different. Also I believe the FJ door opens a full 90 degrees where the H3 does not, so would have to shift an inch or two toward passenger side for the H3 in order to fully open drawers. Might be possible to have a common central drawer design with different wing kits and cover 2 vehicles.
I know it was mentioned before but Jeep JK Unlimited (sub woofer in floor) please !!! I've seen one similar to this before and the JKU didn't get any love from him either... Which is odd because the Jeep community is all about DIY. Thanks for the idea's for sure !!!
Outstanding! The only instructions you left out were the instructions on how to convince my wife that we should spend the money on this instead of our monthly ramen budget! 😄 Keep up the great work!
They’ve updated the design since this video so it’s as light as it can be without threatening structural integrity. They also released the Ultralight version which is about half the weight.
@@RevereOverland can i have link to the updated video and the light material used that I can source locally. Hopefully no change to drawings that i purchased last night
@@AvatarSingh the drawings are the same if you're building your own. The manufacturing process on the assembled units they sell is updated to cut weight using their CNC router. The plywood you use it entirely up to you - SHW sources their own from Spain, and it can't be bought locally.
Are the 2 lower sets of drawer slides the same length. If so shouldn't you be able to save a small bit of money have a set of slides with locks and a set without and then combine one of each, also saving having to drill out a those rivits
The problem is the non locking slides in this weight class are only 1/2" wide instead of 3/4" wide which I can account for but it just looks weird having the drawers offset. When you bump up enough weight capacity to get into the 3/4" non locking then it's more expensive than just buying as a pair and modifying, especially when I buy in bulk from my supplier.
depends on how long you want it. If you want it 42" or shorter it would be the same price as the kits on our website (link in the description) if you want it the full length of the bed I would need to know how long that is so I could price the extra wood and the longer drawer slides.
Love your builds. I purchased the plans for your DIY shower and it is now mounted on the side of my overland trailer. I had to make a few mods and added LED lighting in the lid of the case. so question, how many total slides did you buy? I'm confused as to exactly how you used them. Because a set brings two of the locking slides with the blue lifting notch (left and right) im assuming. However you used the blue lifting notch on two different drawers. I'm sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but this project of mine has just been so frustrating lol that i dont want to keep making mistakes and making this take longer
Awesome project! Nice job. What’s the total weight of the system? If you sold a precut DIY kit, made out of t-slot aluminum profiles for the 5th gen 4Runner, that didn’t break the bank, I’d be all over that!
@@RevereOverland where can you purchase it? I’ve been looking at Baltic birch as well. I have a 3rd gen 4Runner so there aren’t many options for a drawer set.
I assume you are really mostly interested in doing SUVs since doing pickup beds means a whole different level of weatherproofing. Maybe older gens of the 4 Runner?
@@MrWinger1951 Yes that or a shell would help a bunch with weatherproofing, I guess that would have to be in the fine print that it's for enclosed use only. Another thing about pickups is the tailgate would limit the tilt of the fridge slide, but it would still probably be plenty.
