At 10:38 Nakamura took the pawn on a5 with the knight because the pawn on b6 which was protecting it was pinned - taking the knight would alow for Nakamura's rook to take Carlsen's rook. But then Carlsen replied with a knight move which both protects his own rook and attacks Nakmura's rook, while Nakamura's knight was still threatned by the b6 pawn. So if Nakamura tried to save his knight, he would have lost the rook and if he tried to save the rook he would have lost the knight.

From 2:37 to 3:05, Nakamura cannot find anything to do. So he tries a little counterplay on the Queenside with a4, followed by b4 at 3:23. But that weakened the c4 square and Carlsen threatened to jump all over it with his Knight, use it as an outpost, and entry into the White side, a thorn in White's side. Nakamura's only response is to protect the square with his Queen. And from then on, Nakamura is on the defensive. After a6, did Carlsen anticipate b4? Is that why he made the waiting move of Qf7 at 3:17? After b4, Carlsen exchanges Bishops and then, without any hesitation, plays Nd6 threatening Nc4. Attack the weak squares unprotected by pawns!
