I hope you realise how important videos like this are? Most people spend an absolute fortune on food each week then throw most of it out because they haven't eaten it! It's SO vital to make a meal plan and buy what you actually need - unless you're even more organised like me and buy in bulk (legumes, pasta, tinned veg, rice, fish plus essentials like bleach, loo rolls, washing powder, shampoo, toothpaste, cat food etc) to avoid the constant price rises. Very impressed, I must say.
Have you got the lidl app? I think if you spend a tenner you get a free bakery item next time. They have special offers on there too. Well worth it. I love Lidl.
I'm amazed at what you've managed to buy for just over £10! Lidl beans are the best - I actually make a point of going to Lidl for their beans, you really can't go wrong for the price and they taste just as good as more expensive ones! (I saw a comment about Lidl fruit and veg not being great too - I find this true of most supermarkets and even my local greengrocer these days, unfortunately! I tend to get smaller amounts of things if I can, and freeze stuff if it's not lasting well) Anyway, I just wanted to say well done - that's a true buget spend!
Here in Scotland you can get 15 eggs for £1.99 at aldi..various weight..but most are a good size...Ideal for egg (poached, fried or scrambled) and beans on toast snack...Or a veg omelette made with a hand full of the mixed veg. Make sure to defrost or cook a little in the pan before adding the eggs...And can be used to make pancakes (savoury or sweet) with a big bag of cheap flour. Or batter for toad in the hole (or just yorkshire puds) Or even microwave cup cakes with cheap vanilla flavouring with a little sugar as a treat ...Though you could make pancakes with out eggs!..I have...You could use blended oats for the pancakes..If you have a blender or folks have a problem with flour.

Very good, I'd probably switch out the mixed veg for leafy greens like spinach or kale to make sure to increase vitamin and mineral intake and add vitamin K to diet 🙂
Frozen vegetables can be just as nutritious as fresh vegetables, and in some cases, they may be more nutritious. Frozen vegetables can retain their vitamins and minerals, and freezing can even preserve nutrients better than refrigeration. Frozen vegetables can be a convenient and cost-effective way to eat a variety of plants. They can be prepared with minimal effort, and they're available year-round. £1.20p at Tesco and last a good while. I considered that a bargain.
@johnmacaroni105 I totally agree John but the chances are with mixed vegetables, it's gonna be carrots, peas, sweetcorn and green beans, which means with the other foods on the list will lack Vitamin K and iron, which dark leafy greens have especially spinach with also vit A, B and C, Potassium, foliate, magnesium,, mixed veg would be great if there were items on the list containing Vit K and Iron

This might be a random comment but I’m glad how despite cost of living you do buy quality food for your cat. Honestly I’ve seen many UA-camrs vlog their lovely groceries for them to eat but anytime they show the pet food they bought it’s always poor quality dry kibble style always with no real meat ingredients and it shows in the dull coats of their pets too 😢

Lovely to see you today. You created such a good ,healthy menu for the week. I hope you are enjoying pleasant Autumn weather. Here in Toronto we have been having unseasonably warm temperatures and glorious sunny days. Big hugs to you and kisses for Jack. Best, Margaret
I’m impressed with your shop and feel challenged to follow your example. What would I buy? Have you thought of using split red lentils? Cheap source of protein and so easy to cook without soaking first. Turn them into/add to soups, casseroles, dhals. Also have you tried making pancakes with just a mashed egg and banana? Could ring the changes.
I've a cheap recipe for one I hope you like and its easy to double up when necessary! Macaroni With To mato. (1), Boil a portion of Macaroni ( or penne, fusilli, orso) with half afinely chopped onion if it's large. (2) Grate cheese for your topping and preheat grill medium heat. ( 3) Drain pasta and onion and put inyour cookig dish, mixing in a can of tomato soup. (4) Sprinkle grated chese. Add chopped bacon on top if you like or add a sliced tomato or a bit of courgette even. (5) Grill till golden crispy, serve with a dash of Worcester sauce and some rocket or lettuce on the side. Recipe from my late Mum's 1964 Woman's Own! If you like tinned tuna I've another cheap recipe , if you're interested
@julieedwards7178 Easy to double up or do on e serving. You need a tin of tuna, drained, a can of carrots, sliced and drained, mashed potato and a parsley sauce mix. In a saucepan, cook potatoes till ready to mash. Or use instant. You need enough to make a ring of potato around outside of plate or plates. In a medium saucepan, put in the parsley sauce mix with just under half pint of milk, stirring as you gently heat it. As it thickens ,add the carrots and flaked tuna. Bring to boil gently till thickened. Spoon sauce in centre of each plate and add, if wished, a dash of Worcester sauce.
Sardines are delicious stirred into cooked spaghetti too. Even better with a bit of garlic powder, herbs, a sauteed diced tomato and bit of bell pepper.
I wonder if you could consider trying to get some more fresh veg in your diet. Maybe changing out your bag of frozen veg for a savoy cabbage or winter greens and some carrots maybe. Otherwise I think you did well here.
Before watching I would have said it can't be done. I stand corrected and it earned you a sub. Just shows what other well known supermarkets are over charging for the same items but with a different name on the packaging.
Maybe do a video showing us the meals you make ? Some good prices there ! Ireland getting more more expensive for food here even for milk . Aldi Lidl all now seem be same prices but dairy has gone so so expensive. Our milk went up €1.15 everywhere for one litre . Butter €3.69 own branded supermarkets jumped another €0.40-50c this week again . I started making cut back so less baking ( bake once with butter for baking treats - don’t buy them out ) making butter last and only using it for eggs in morning time . Mashed potatoes 1-2 times a week on top after they mashed with dash milk instead . I’m making my butter last me two weeks now due to that .i hate spreads so can’t buy those make it more affordable . I use coconut oil in bulk to cook dinners as olive oil way too expensive. If cook fatty meats or fish don’t use anything .
I lived on same for 2 years. Ended up with vitamin deficiencies and a subsequent 18- month stomach infection resistant to antibiotics and eventually fibromyalgia.
Wow❣️ Thanks for this. Now that my son is no longer living at home, the motivation to cook is zero. But even I know that i can't live on cheese sammijes for ever.
i saw you considered the soya milk! ive noticed lidl has increased the soya milk price recently, i'm honestly a bit upset about it since its usually better quality that the aldi one. theres still the 50p soya milk available at aldi but ive started to stock up on it since im sure it wont stay 50p for long following lidl's price increase :( great video as usual though!
Say what? I practically live at Lidl and I spend about £30 per week, just on my dog and I usually share lots of my food with him, too. Pork chops, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken, steak etc. Oh for anyone on a budget and eats Heinz soup in winter, give Lidl soup a try. It’s there Newgate brand. It costs 99p and tastes as close to Heinz’s as you can get but about half price. I usually buy the beef & veg, lamb, chicken & veg I also recommend Lidl simply eggs. 15 for £1,99 Lidl instant noodles I think Newgate 35p I buy 12 sausage, 16 bacon, 12 eggs for £8.25 and get 6 nice breakfasts and even a bit for dog. It’s really easy to eat tasty food for cheap and it’s also so easy to spend £3.99 on a crap tiny microwave meal that probably tastes ok at best. Anyway let’s start the video.
I am so surprised how cheap food is in UK. I did a quick online shop with similar and cheapest items here in New Zealand at Pak n Save our cheapest supermarket and it came to $38.44 NZD or 17.75 GBP, not sure how edible the oats or baked beans would be with the budget brands though :)
I managed to keep 3 of us on £10 per week some years ago. Kids Gave up asking for fancy food once they realised couldn’t afford it. Not sure i could manage a it now though.
more or less what i get from Tesco - but for 2 weeks - add £2-50 ( 9 meals ) minced beef and £2-50 Chicken Legs ( 6 meals ) for an extra £5. That's still only £15 for 2 weeks of hearty meals. £7-50 a week. A bag of pasta for 50p....i could go on..
You forgot the honey mummy!!😜 Tip. The exact same weight of Lidl,Aldi and Saisbury basic honey is lots cheaper in glass jars than in the saueezy plastic crap!!
When I do a food challenge like this I go on the categories on the Aldi website and put them in order from cheapest to most expensive so i can see what i can pick up for cheap. Rice 52p and pasta 41p are good ones. Also jam 39p, custard creams 45p, Natural Yogurt 35p, Kidney beans 33p, Spaghetti Loops 19p. I knew how much sausages and tinned tomatoes were before you said it 🤣
Unfortunately 10.81£=13,06€ but to buy what you brought in my country it would cost ~19,78€ excluding bourbon cream because I don’t know the equivalent in my country and our min wage is lower 😂
Just for comparison. We used to spend more per head on our RAF Police dogs than got spent on recruits. Also when i work in a care home 3 years ago the spend per day per resident was £1.37 for 3 meals out of the £1000 a week. Well done you for proving people don't need massive wages.
I'm jealous you're lucky really. Very difficult here in Australia. Our eggs are 4 quid for 6, bread 3 pound. And I can't eat whet so make out own from almond flour but so expensive.

It is nice and chilly here Margaret xx
The wonderful lady is back. You were so missed.
That seems a really good grocery shop, I’m going to try and replicate this and see if the prices are similar here in Australia. 🇦🇺😀
Do it! X
I'm in Australia and when she states the prices of everything I double it for the exchange rate and its still so much cheaper than here in Aus.
Oh let us know how you get on!
I'd be interested in the tuna recipe Jane .Love recipes from the past.
JaneEasterbrook-bn3ux.could you send the tuna recipe please.
Thanks so much for your reply Jane.Sounds lovely il give this a go.Your pasta recipe was really nice and so cheap.xx.
Sardines are delicious stirred into cooked spaghetti too. Even better with a bit of garlic powder, herbs, a sauteed diced tomato and bit of bell pepper.
Sounds great!
Looks very livable actually and even balanced almost
So glad your back on with budget UK foodie! Also your looking so much better!
Yay! Thank you!
Oooh your back Yay!!! 🎉
Yes I am!
Many of us do, as disabled people. We've been doing it for years. We have no choice but to budget.
Very good! The most extreme challenge I did was 3 euro per day, but you have inspired me to do less! Let's try 🤸🏽♂🍀
Love the comedy glasses. How much did they cost?
Thank you! X
Looking forward to seeing what you cook up with those ingredients.
Coming soon!
So happy that you’re back 😁 If you ever run out of milk, just stick some oats and water in a food processor and voila you have oat milk 😄
Great idea x
Good haul but I would definitely miss green veggies, carrots.
I got some frozen veggies but it’s definitely not the same xx
Jack is beautiful! I had a black and white Jack years ago 😊
I wish we had a lidl here in Ohio. I shop mijeirs, aldi, Trader Joe’s. What u got for 10 we would pay close to $40 for. Here in ne Ohio USA
I loooove mash xx
I will be cooking up a storm today x
I lived on same for 2 years. Ended up with vitamin deficiencies and a subsequent 18- month stomach infection resistant to antibiotics and eventually fibromyalgia.
Omg x
Wow❣️ Thanks for this. Now that my son is no longer living at home, the motivation to cook is zero. But even I know that i can't live on cheese sammijes for ever.
Yes melany!
@@melanytodd2929 yow what's happening 👀
You 👍 👌 OK????????
i saw you considered the soya milk! ive noticed lidl has increased the soya milk price recently, i'm honestly a bit upset about it since its usually better quality that the aldi one. theres still the 50p soya milk available at aldi but ive started to stock up on it since im sure it wont stay 50p for long following lidl's price increase :( great video as usual though!
Yeah I thought the soya milk was definitely going to be cheap but it wasn’t! X
I don't eat a lot so for me I spend less anyway and since I went off meat I spend about £20-30 a week if I'm getting whatever I want lol
Was this in Shoreham-by-sea?
No Norwich
I usually buy the beef & veg, lamb, chicken & veg
I also recommend Lidl simply eggs. 15 for £1,99
Lidl instant noodles I think Newgate 35p
I buy 12 sausage, 16 bacon, 12 eggs for £8.25 and get 6 nice breakfasts and even a bit for dog.
It’s really easy to eat tasty food for cheap and it’s also so easy to spend £3.99 on a crap tiny microwave meal that probably tastes ok at best.
Anyway let’s start the video.
Lidl soup is tasty s
Not much fruit or fresh veg and I couldn't manage without cheese. Uht milk has zero goodness left in it. May aswell have water.
Brilliant
Subscribed 🙏❤️🐱
Glad to see you back, and love your short hair.
Thank you so much 😀
I am so surprised how cheap food is in UK. I did a quick online shop with similar and cheapest items here in New Zealand at Pak n Save our cheapest supermarket and it came to $38.44 NZD or 17.75 GBP, not sure how edible the oats or baked beans would be with the budget brands though :)
Oh my goodness! X
Foods cheaper, then we get stung on gas and electric to cook it, they always win.
I managed to keep 3 of us on £10 per week some years ago. Kids
Gave up asking for fancy food once they realised couldn’t afford it.
Love Jack, he’s like my tuxedo lad Floki.
I grew up skint! Worked hard, 5 kids, big house. But was cheap 25 year's ago. I spend £20 a day on just wine! Not braging, just ashamed!
Another £14 on a pack of fags, between two! We are not extravagant. It's just how much tax is applied these days!!!
LIDL also do random fruit and veggie boxes for £1.50 which are a bargain.
Good on you xx
Do you have a video of you living on it for a week, please?
Great to see you back! 👏🏻 Have you thought about making overnight oats for breakfasts?
Great idea!!
You forgot the honey mummy!!😜
Tip.
I knew how much sausages and tinned tomatoes were before you said it 🤣
Great idea!!
Can we have a story time of your moving house and a home tour x
Yes I’ll do this today x
Mb here
Can’t wait to see what you make .
Hope you like it! Mb! X
That’s a fantastic haul for under £11 … lots of variety and options there if you’re like me and your meal plans tend to go off track 😂
I was pleased with my haul!
@TheBudgetFoodie as you should be 🤩🥰
Unfortunately 10.81£=13,06€ but to buy what you brought in my country it would cost ~19,78€ excluding bourbon cream because I don’t know the equivalent in my country and our min wage is lower 😂
Just for comparison. We used to spend more per head on our RAF Police dogs than got spent on recruits. Also when i work in a care home 3 years ago the spend per day per resident was £1.37 for 3 meals out of the £1000 a week. Well done you for proving people don't need massive wages.
Thank you x
I'm jealous you're lucky really. Very difficult here in Australia. Our eggs are 4 quid for 6, bread 3 pound. And I can't eat whet so make out own from almond flour but so expensive.
Hi.
Does she eat once a day?
That's great but what about Toiletries,
Potatoes, potatoes are cheap as chips and very good for you. Any tight budget should include mountains of spuds
True xx
Your hair is lovely
Could really do to budget shop like this, we'll done😮
Just goes to show that even on a budget it is possible to eat healthy if you cook from scratch and avoid expensive processed convenience foods
So many carbs!!!! Ok when you are younger but in the long run edible and filling but not much nutrition.
