Mark, it’s sad that freedom loving, law abiding citizens must leave Oregon for states who still “abide” by the Constitution.

Wow. Deep roots. May family homesteaded in Washington in 1903. I was born in Washington in March 1954. We are looking hard at northern Idaho. But that arms museum in Cody is amazing. Happy Trails, indeed!

The crazies in Portland/ Salem /West of the Cascades is why the Greater Idaho Movement is gaining traction. My extended family also goes back to Eastern Oregon in the Late 1840's, Idaho 1880's and my great Uncle Lester Allen was one of the participants in the Johnson County, Wyoming range war on the side of the small ranchers. His sister or Aunt married Jack Langrishe in Deadwood, South Dakota. Both are very portrayed in the TV series Deadwood. Some of us in the family are looking at moving back to Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota from Idaho because of the huge numbers of Californians that have moved here driving land and home prices through the roof. We are worried that they are bringing their politics with them. Same thing is happening all states all across the West.

Be careful with Wyoming. I was just reading an article here lately about how their state legislature has slowly been swinging to the left do to the RINO's getting elected. This is the left's plan I believe, infiltrate county and state legislature's and get their hooks into rural politics. This is what has been happening on the Oregon coast. You get these so-called "Libertarian's" or moderate Republicans running. They talk a good game but then when they get into office they are either straight out liberals or just gutless and easily persuaded. The Oregon coast in my area is still primarily republican but it still amazes me how some of those in office are willing to even consider some of the leftist ideas.
Btw, 28/29 out of the 36 Oregon counties voted red in both 2016 and 2020. Oregon is a RED state controlled by a BLUE city. I suspect that's the case with most of these other so-called blue states.

    • @steveelder5306

you don't have to worry about them bringing their politics with them. they are.

It's the people in the cities there are many conservatives in Western Oregon and Western Washington people on the east side tend to have a stereotype of everybody west of the Cascades

    • @disillusioned070
      @disillusioned070 3 місяці тому +2

@@gdmofo 100%. I live on the North Oregon Coast and would say the easily over 2/3rds are conservative. Many people don't realize that Oregon is a red state run by a couple of blue cities. In both 2016 and 2020, 28 and 29 counties out of our 36 total counties voted red. I wish state's had the same electoral voting system as our federal system. I suspect there are many so-called blue states that similar to Oregon.

Raised also in Yamhill Co, Dayton, and I left to go to college in Idaho in 1988, and never looked back. I live Idaho but I truly miss Oregon. Mother and many other kin still there so I visit often. I can’t imagine leaving anyplace with that much history. I’m very sentimental so I don’t give things up easily so I’m glad I got to Idaho before I was too sentimental to leave. Now my sons buried where I live and I won’t be leaving here anytime soon. It is a shame what’s happened. My wish is that greater Idaho will happen and I can go to eastern Oregon, western Idaho I guess then, to hunt where 8 grew up hunting. Still do but to do it in a free state would be great. Good luck in your endeavors. Cody is an awesome town.

Best of luck to you and yours!🙏🏼🇺🇸
We are 3rd generation Oregonians. My great, Great grandfather owned Herlow Hotel and Bar and the first stage coach line running from Santa Fe to Fort Sumpter. He was also the sheriff in Santa Fe, and our family donated his shotgun chaps, and Indian beaded buckskin shirt to the Palace of Governors Museum in Santa Fe, that they valued at $40k. Thomas Herlow was a well known admirable, citizen of Santa Fe .The law enforcement officers tracking William Bonnye stayed in the Hotel in Santa Fe for a time, which was known as the nicest accommodations in town , my great grandfather could read and write five languages…… kind of cool history that in some ways has links to yours. Two years ago, my younger brother who is saddle builder/leather worker and ranch manager moved with his family to the Cody/Powell area of Wyoming…we have considered it ourselves…… oh boy is it windy there. Safe travels on your move, Godspeed!🙏🏼

Fifth generation Oregonian here. Still own a farm 20 miles outside Salem. I moved my family to Wyoming in 1983 and stayed 25 years. In 2008 I moved back to Oregon, job transfer, and I’ve been in culture shock ever since. Oregon has become a communist shit hole. If my health allowed I would leave immediately.

You have a very long and noble heritage in Oregon. Don't ever forget it. My heritage was in Idaho. I moved to Wyoming over 30 years ago. It became home and I wouldn't change it. When I retired I thought to myself " now I can go anywhere I want too". I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. But don't forget that when your family went to Oregon it was for a better life. I think that's what you're doing now.

Tough decision, no doubt. It is a crying shame what has happened to Oregon. The joke used to be that Oregon (because of the west side politics) was california's northernmost county. Now of course Washington state is, but the reason behind that joke has only become more evident. I know I will miss seeing the Oregon countryside in your videos as often. Pretty nice in Wyoming, so I reckon you will find some good spots to shoot videos. Good luck with the new endeavor.

WOW, deep, deep roots for sure! I can in some ways sympathize with your pain in leaving because my family was deeply rooted in southern Illinois (and we all know how bad that state has gotten) and several generations of my family are buried there. I moved away 45 years ago and have never regretted leaving. I sincerely hope you enjoy Cody and Wyoming. We sure loved visiting there (especially the museum) a few years ago and love RV'ing in Wyoming. I look forward to your videos. All Best Wishes on your new chapter in life Mark! I do hope you have a few hundred acres to roam free ,away from the "civilised" world, a convenience store is not a good exchange for open spaces, so I hope you have a fall back plan, it looks like our crazy politicians have claimed another sensible contributing person, I hope you have written to the local politicians outlining why you are leaving, it probably will make no difference but when the letters start piling up they may just realise they are taking us down the wrong way! Leaving your family home are so many years is not an easy decision, many of us in the UK have been faced with this action after family ties for hundreds of years, but you only have one life! Stay safe! Chris B.

Sad to see you go Mark. I don't live far from your ranch. I'm 62 years old, born and raised right here, and I truly understand
your frustrations with this state. I do wish you and your wife all of the best...
I had heard of the Armory before you talked about it, but after hearing that you were taking over the business, I decided
it was time to start working on some projects again, so I called and talked with Cameron, and will be sending some parts
your way in the next week or so.... I hope the move goes smoothly for you, and I'm really looking forward to seeing some
    videos once you get situated.

Mark, I can relate with family, friends, history growing up in Oregon City. I handled every city deed in nw while moving deeds from up stairs to downstairs storage in courthouse. I started scuba diving in NW Washington state, moving to Washington. Good luck on your move!

I’ve been watching your channel since it started. I know how hard it is to leave a place with deep roots. Yet, I hope to meet you in person on our upcoming Wyoming, Montana trip later this summer.

I was born and grew up in Cody, and now I live 23 miles away. I can only imagine how it would be to leave your home state.

Pretty sad. I’m in the same boat. My family came to northern California some 70 years before the discovery of gold via a land grant. One of the first 1000 non native families in the state. Some time in the future historians will look back at guys like us and wonder how and why we let them take our land without much of a fight. Pretty much like we look at the native Americans today. Weighs heavily on my mind and in my heart. That much I can say. I wish you well! Smart people with means, move to escape oppression. Problem with that is, soon enough there’s not going to be any place to move to! 😞

Best of luck. I would not be able to do that. I like my peace and quiet, I just couldn't get used to living in a town and certainly not a city.

Cody isn't much of a city. It's surrounded by the great outdoors one block from the edge of town. Just east of Yellowstone .

@@robertmartin8184 thank you for the insight, I feel better for Mark knowing that. He had one of the best places to live and hunt and work that I have seen. I visited with him at his shop, he repaired a old Winchester for me and as expected did a top notch job. What a great guy.
