Here's me replying to an 11 year old comment but this observation is poignant. To me I watched and read the books at about the time they came out so I identify more than a few characters with the movie versions. Rupert is Ron Weasley to me as is Emma Hermione, however funnily enough I don't picture Dan when I think of Harry. Richard Harris is and forever will be my minds Dumbledore, sorry Gambon. While Julie Andrews is my Molly Weasley, Bonnie Wright is not my Ginny, of course the God Alan Rickman is my minds Snape but none of the portrayals of the Marauders and Lily are my minds characters except for Moony. Yes even Oldman doesn't really feel like the Sirius I grew up reading. HBC is my minds Bella but while I think Feinnes did a phenomenal job, his Voldy is not my minds Tom. Evanna Lynch is literally Luna Lovegood and I won't hear a word against it. They dropped the ball with the casting of Narcissa tho, imo. Naomi Campbell would have been a much better choice, hence why she is my minds Narcissa Malfoy. No doubt Tom Felton is Draco Malfoy so well done and God bless him because I think he pretty much nailed book Draco year to year consistently. And lastly of course I agree that Lucius Malfoy is Jason Issacs I've never imagined anyone else in his place in my head when reading the books so well done Jason.
Aww, Tom Felton in the start! "Draco's dada - his name is Lucius Malfoy - he comes into the story, kinda makes everything a bit... He makes the Malfoy name a bit scarier."
Aww. What he said about Daniel Radcliffe just warmed my heart. To know that even at that age Daniel could come up with his own lines in response to impromptu additions during shooting of scene. That too with brilliant expressions. And Jason you were the perfect Lucious Malfoy, loved to hate you.
So impressed with Daniel Radcliffe, for an actor that young he was so smart and superb to think of that last line in this scene on the spot on his own!
Jason Isaacs took the role of Lucius Malfoy and turned into what has to be one of the best performances in cinema history. Hands down. Such a brilliant and underrated actor.
I met him at a convention last year. He was really nice and talkative. He told me he wants me to be in Star Trek Discovery because I asked him to give me an evaluation for my act. He was impressed of my act!
I have an amazing story. One time I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. I started getting chills and I felt so comfortable with Him. I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, and started crying. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car. I've been getting answered prayers for around 5 years since, because that visitation eliminated doubt and I follow Biblical instructions as best as I can.
I'm pretty sure Jason took some inspiration for Lucius from an actor named George Sanders, whose velvet voice set down rules for the stereotypical stoic, upper-crust Englishman. Cary Elwes did it, too, for "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (as Arthur Holmwood), and so did Michael Fassbender for "Inglorious Bastards".
Danielle Musella If I remember correctly, Jason Isaacs said once in an interview that his inspiration for Lucius’ voice was a cross between one really snooty/snobbish character he’d seen once (can’t remember who it was ATM) and a real-life teacher who used to bully him a lot in drama school. The interview should still be somewhere on UA-cam if it hasn’t been taken down for whatever reason, so I’ll be sure to let you know if and when I find it.
I wouldn't say Luvius was terrible father. He is terrible person, obviously, but he is not bad father. Maybe to overrule, but we remember, that they with Narcissa cared incthe end only about their son. Lucius even ask Voldemort a permition to stop atack and go to Hogwarts, which, in a matter of circumstances is pretty brave...
In the books Lucius wasn’t a bully to his son at all. In fact he spoiled him but he also was strict when it came to following the rules and presenting yourself befitting their status.
Talk about brilliant casting, Richard Harris as Dumbledore and Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy is like someone was able to actually look into my imagination and bring to life how I imagined what both those characters would look like after reading the books.

What is amazing about the casting of Harry Potter is that it was a real risk having the three leads (because I think it's fair to say, while Harry's name is on the cover, Ron and Hermione aren't supporting characters) being played by kids with limited (in the case of Daniel and Rupert) to no (in the case of Emma) professional acting experience, and the series was based on a popular book series that already had a strong following before the movies. So they brought on a director who was very experienced with dealing with child actors for the first two movies, and cast an adult cast full of acting royalty. What better lesson in acting can Rupert, Emma and Daniel get as 13-14 year olds than effectively being extras (once Snape appears) in a scene that involves an argument between Alan Rickman (Snape), Gary Oldman (Sirius) and David Thewlis (Lupin)? The adult cast didn't just know how to act. What really sets them apart and had made them legends is they knew their characters, and that's particularly important in a series where the conclusion of one movie isn't the end of the story, it leads into the next movie. So they have to play the character in a certain way. But a genius move that was made once Alfonso took over a director in the third movie was getting the three leads to write an essay about the journey of their characters to ensure the young cast knew their characters and that enabled them to suggest edits to the script in later movies where the screenwriter would put in lines which the characters wouldn't say.
they might eventually do that... they did it with Ballet Shoes (as a play not from the 2007 movie) and it is brilliant... they even included some music from famous ballets lets hope they do it I love Stephen Fry reading the books but there's something about the actors from the films doing those voices...
Jason Isaacs knows Lucius so well. He made that character entirely his own. Fantastic actor.
Yess

That last line in Dumbledore's office was IMPROVISED?! MIND. BLOWN.
Especially Daniel's part, for a 13yrs old actor.
@@treeberry4actually Dan would have only been around 12 in the second film. I know I’m nitpicking but he was even a little bit younger.
There should be a Harry Potter audiobook series read solely by Jason Isaacs. I mean, aside from just in my head. ;)
That might be really good
Oh, that would be so absolutely awesome! Now I want something I know I'll never get.
Like can he please read me a bedtime story
I think it'd be so awesome if they could re-record all the audiobooks and whenever a character speaks, it's the voice of the actor in the film.
Wish they did it but now it's too late 😢 RIP Alan Rickman 😢
Omg yes
@@PrawilnaMordka they could use Benedict Cumberbatch who would mimick Alan Rickman's voice. of course it is not the same, but
Ben's Alan impression scares me sometimes fr

I would rather him keeping his long blonde hair it suits him
Alaska That was a wig IIRC, but it definitely suits him.
I swear when he does his Lucius voice my ovaries just explode

Brilliantly improvised bit of acting there, particularly the look on Lucius's face. Exquisitely evil.
a very talented and beautiful actor!
Oh Mr. Isaacs, come read me a bedtime story please ❤
I love his energy and excitement for acting
I love the story about Lucius' improv line and Dan's response. Brilliant!
Jason Isaacs is absolutely wonderful in this part. He had remarkable insight into how to place this part. A super talented actor.
Growing up is getting over a crush over Draco and crushing on Lucius 🤣

I love both Tom Felton and Jason Isaacs. It's kind of hard not to like those two.
Tom sounds like he has braces. that is cute.
i’m sure he kept wearing his retainers LMFAO
He has retainers on
His teeth were crooked when he was young, right? So.....yeah, maybe he wore retainers or braces that time? Dk but still he looked cute xD
Tom has said before he had a speech impediment when he was young, it might of slightly still been there at this point
Gosh he really did add so much to this character. The amount of improvised lines is incredible. Thank you Jason.
Hot Hotter Lucius..............
