Great video. When your not using the tank for a while, take off the cover on the macerator and spray in wd40. The macerator can seize when not in use. It's will save you a lot of hardship

Jesus Adrian I know that pain. It’s never the big things we do, it’s always something simple, even just going down a small step can do it. I’ve had surgery 3 times over the years for “discs” and now I have a spinal implant, which is great. I hate hate not being able to do stuff, so I try to keep going as do as much as I can. I might have been told over the years that I have a. It of a stubborn streak in me.😂😂😂😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Thanks for the honesty Adrian, I,m farming about 7 years, the first tractor I bought I didn't know how to get the lift arms up and down😀. I had a wee same silver 90 with an electric lift and it was all buttons, I eventually found a rocker switch instead of going through the lift settings. Still learning all the time. It's nice to see these kind of videos, we all make wee mistakes and our mistakes can help others.

Hi Adrien, great video, had my first rodeo with our dribble bar and like you was struggling with it the first few loads, macerator draws fair power off the tractor which doesn’t help when you need to be going faster. Mastek have an app that can calculate forward speed for you for whatever rate you want to apply the slurry at/ acre 👍🏻
Hi Adrian I too suffer from the bad back and had sciatica going down my left leg I started stretching morning and evening and the difference is incredible 5mins will make a new man of you hope its better soon
Yes I do the stretches every night, there brilliant. Bit of swimming as well. It’s hasn’t been a problem in a few year but it’s hit hard this time. Nearly of my feet at the min 😬. 👍

with our asphalt drive pot holes i do the same but i use the garden blower to blow out dust, i then use a blow torch to heat up the bottom and sides, it helps adhere the new asphalt to the old... i also mix in old asphalt from the hole in the new tub of asphalt, works well and you might want to try it in the next pot hole...
Great video Adrian,we have a few pot holes here in uk,if you get time in between milking cows,feeding cows,calving cows,feeding calf’s,fencing,cutting wood,the the odd electrical works! 🤪Thought was good you showing mistakes on dribble bar,then taking your valuable time explaining how dribble bar works,,,well done you,noticed Hudson keeping a eye on you,keep well hope you back pain rights it’s self soon🍻

We upgraded from a Ross moore 1800 to an s&m 2250 with a dribble bar and it will take a lot of getting used to the double entry valve and the dribble bar when before all we had was a lollipop and splash plate but this really helps a lot
Very good Adrian, practice makes perfect, as with everything else you will get perfection. It's the time of year for the back pain Adrian after the spring workload. I am in absolute agony.

Adrian thank for the low down on how the dribble bar works. I am glad Tom Pemberton suggested watching your channel, it is nice to see the difference in how farmin’ is done in Ireland, Scotland and my Uncles farm here across the pond.. We had four hundred cows we milked twice a day. I am a mind that being raised on a farm is the best way to go.

Adrian I'd recommend that instead of doing ur ups and downs which r hard wit th load and dribble bar but where possible over and back do it ourselves unless ground is too steep over th Road from ya and it does work wen the runs aren't too short
Well Adrian, teagesc have a slurry calculator and it will calculate how fast to travel if that helps.ci use it when I'm using the splash plate and the trailing shoe and is fairly accurate.
Just a little tip to remember Adrian, macerator should be the last thing on and the first thing off, in order to protect the seals in the pump

Great video as usual. I've also seen Tom Pemberton using his dribble bar and I think the terrain of your land will make it harder to get used too especially travel speeds and length of the hoses.
Yes our hills make it more challenging for sure, especially with speed.

New equipment videos are the most amusing. I may have giggled. More than once. Having said that, I admit to never having used a dribble bar so you may feel free to assign me mucking duties for laughing. I can attest to seeing the vast improvement in fields using a dribble bar vs using a splash plate. I am looking forward to seeing your fields after they've grown a bit! :D

Very enjoyable video as usual Adrian I did not realise you put it on so early mind you I only usual have time to watch it in the evening, great content as well, you should get a spray suppression bottle for your saw helps keep the dust down but lubs the blade and it cuts easier and lasts longer, cutting a straight edge is a must with tar and some bitumen for the edges to make it bond would help, Taring pot holes is a mind field but we have to try, the young lass looks like she is about ready to start putting out the slurry, its no going to be long before you will be able to sit back and rest that sort back, very enjoyable Adrian
I never heard of a spray suppression bottle, sounds like a great thing. Hate the dust but it’s impossible to always have a water hose to hook up 2. I’ll be Google searching one of those today. Thanks George
The slurry comes out an awful lot faster with the dribble bar. If you add up the area of all those pipe outlets on the sides of the maserator, you'll have alot more than the area of the single hole on the splash plate.
You'll notice it moreso the more watery slurry you're spreading.
You should also notice that you can rev the tractor much higher without putting pressure on the pump, no hissing like you'd have with the splash plate. Which would be a sign that the slurry is exiting quicker.
With your hills Adrian, there's no way you'll be able to go fast enough to spread less than 3k gallons/acre.
You should also be switching the direction of the maserator also during the load
Yes I fully agree with that in every way Martin, it’s going to be a challenge on some of my hills and not getting up enough speed. I’m going with half tanks at the minute on the hills. Maserator does pull a sine HP out of the tractor too.
Also the only way you can fully empty the tanker is to pull it up hill at the end.
Definitely with you @Martin Clifford as those macerators take some power on hills when working.
Dribble bars definitely do a grand job tho on thinner slurry but I am not quite so convinced on really thick slurry in hot dry times as I have seen it peeling back off the ground while raking silage on a following cut and getting back to the cows again ☹️
@@IFarmWeFarm you can get a insert to slow down the slurry going into the chopper. A rubber cone it means UL be able to travel slower. mastek should have recommended one
@@IFarmWeFarm I've hill land myself and one tip I have is if you are struggling to get up a particular steep bit and the rpms are dropping shut off the pto for a few seconds and you'll get a boost of power. The pressure in the tank won't really drop off in that short time. I've been able to spread hills at 7 to 8 km with that trick.

You are a man of many talents. I was thinking a bit of old plywood or metal plate over the road repair may help while it settles in. I had no idea you can buy tarmac in a bucket.
It’s very expensive, €30 a bucket. You can get it in a tar and chip quarry where the council get there’s, fare cheaper. I just done that one hole with this.
Class videos Adrian, you were lucky that tank wasn’t thick because I know some tanks if you had the macerator off for just a second shed block 😂
funny how you're learning how a dribble bar work while here in the netherlands the tank that I drive the most has 3 hydraulic groups and a full controlbox with levers and all, way more complicated.
it's a eye opener that there are people with way simpler setups. keep up the learning new things are always a struggle in the begining often the first load of slurry in a awile takes the longest time because you need to relearn abit.

I've found that spreading at about 6.5 to 7 km will put out about 3000 gallons per acre. I have a 7.5 m Major dribble bar with a Vogelsang macerator so that's a bit different to yours, I chose it over the mastec because it's supposed to have a lower output which helps when dealing with hills. Fyi Tom Pemberton has a cone before the macerator to reduce the flow. Apparently they can be a bugger for blocking however. Thanks for sharing 👍

You should spread a tank of water on your last load esp if your not going to be spreading till after 1st cut because the slurry will harden in pipes and masserator with warmer weather also keep stone trap emptied it protects the masserator in the long run!
Yes probably a good idea for sure Bob, it’s been used ever second day at the minute, slurrying right behind the cows as they graze.
@@IFarmWeFarm be careful not to sour the grass by over following the cows or it will turn them off it, I find thinning down the slurry with dairy washings helps it get into the ground better from now on esp when we dont get as much rain, have my mastek dribble bar 9months now and very happy with it, need more power to maintain higher ground speed compared to splash plate!

Tidy piece of kit Adrian, health to enjoy. On our farm we just have a small Abbey 1300 with splash plate. Just wondering is there much maintenance with your Mastek, how often would the pipes of the dribble bar need cleaned? Hope the back feels better soon 👍
Adrian stay away from the heat packs. Will help for a few minutes but it's the worst thing you can do. Ice ice ice keep back cool as possible. Have suffered with bad back for the last 30 years and I made the mistake off using the heat packs for to long. Heat can/will cause the back muscles to spasm

You will always have problems with the pipes being to long when spreading across a hill. The arm facing the hill will always be to low. So just don't fold the booms down full. Or fold them down full and then a little lift up again. The boom facing the hill tends to be the one to lift alittle first.
you should keep the tarmac in the house next to the fire for a few days and get it really warmed up
It’s good to put the spool both ways for the Maserator so you don’t just wear one side of the edge on it
