    Hello Shinichi and Satoshi! This was such fun to watch! All of the natto varieties looked fantastic!!!! It seemed like they just got better as you went along. I would like to try them all, especially the miso and matcha natto, but they were all so interesting and there was such a great variety. I am so glad you were able to visit that store in Ibaraki Prefecture! Thank you so much for another wonderful video. I'm grateful for all of your hard work.

I hope I can visit Japan one day, the food looks amazing.

    I'm happy how you show that Natto isn't at all that super disgusting thing like they do on UA-cam in these super cringy overacted videos, so people are maybe open minded to try it. I mean fermented food is so powerfull and healthy, maybe the taste is not what everyone likes (for me it reminds me of fresh yeast) and it's totally alright if people don't like it, but for everyone who hasn't: it's worth a try, at least a new experience you would miss^^
    For me:it's sooo delicious *^* I know it's not meant how to eat, but I love Natto in summertime out of the freezer and eat them bean by bean like small icecream-pops melting in my mouth, just can't get enough of it :D

    • @kicktheajummasface9200
      @kicktheajummasface9200 7 років тому +1

      I'd rather have actual small ice cream pops, I tried natto at a 5 star intercontinental hotel breakfast in tokyo ...almost threw up on my friend. The japanese beside us were taking CUPS of the stuff, so I know it's good to them but ....I think I evolved more survival instinct based taste buds. Spoiled food is bad.

    • @plejade4125
      @plejade4125 7 років тому +10

      TeaBridge River may I correct you, it's not spoiled, it's fermented like Kimchi or the german Sauerkraut, Beer, Coffee, Tobacco ... but I agree , like every of these are reeeealy outstanding when it comes down to the taste, and not necesseraly in a good tasty way ;) to be honest most are gross at the beginning and I'm sure it's hard to love them by first try, specially when you're not in to "strange" tastes, so I really can feel you how it was specially in a super upperclassy restaurant ohh no XD

    • @timlarsson
      @timlarsson 7 років тому +5

      Plejade, have you tried "odd tasting" food from other countries as well? Like marmite, Swedish caviar on tube, fish roe, pickled herring and so on?
      Also, you say it reminds you of fresh yeast. How would it compare to the taste of beer in your opinion? :)

    • @plejade4125
      @plejade4125 7 років тому +2

      Tim Larsson ohh those dishes you mention are great, absolutely my type of flavour:D do you like them too, or are they too strange?:)What about Natto?^^ I hope I'm able to taste Surströmming one day or Durian("vomit fruit"but it should taste great,just smells like corpses urghh haha) only when it comes to boiled eggs(even high class,fresh) I'm not a big fan XD hmm about that beer(without the refreshing part) and yeast thing, it's so hard to describe why but this was my first impression, those leave a "furry" taste on the tongue and I think it's something you only love after tasting again and again, somehow you can get a craving for and that happend to me with Natto, specially that "furry" taste ^^

    • @DamagedCorpse
      @DamagedCorpse 7 років тому +2

      Plejade I hope you are right and that Natto isn't as bad as people make it out to be, because it looks delicious! It reminds of how people overreact with Vegemite. I thought it was going to be pretty bad because of videos, but when I moved to Australia, and actually ate Vegemite, I've realized that it taste delicious! I hope it is the same thing with Natto.

    This video reminded me that I have natto in the freezer. I love how elegant the packaging is. I'm such a big fan of natto, so I'd enjoy trying any of these flavors, but I'm guessing my faves would be matcha, miso, shiso, and ume. I wish we had access to high-end natto is the US, but I'm just happy that we can get it here. Thanks for the video and have a great weekend!

    First time I saw this was when I babysat my grand-daughter. I thought the beans were spoiled and smelled oughtful. But over the years (5) I grew to love it and the variety is great. You get used to the smell an sliminess. It "grows" on you, 😍😍 I WANT the Matcha NATTO caviar! Satochi is so funny... expensive toothpicks 😀😃

    What would your recommendation be for someone from the USA who is not used to the slimyness (sliminess?) of the natto?
    I have tried some basic mild brands in the Styrofoam packages, added in the sauces (but I cannot have spicy because it makes me sick 😯). The flavor is ok, but I cannot get over the texture of the slimy enzymes. I know that natto is super healthy, and I want to find one that I can enjoy! (I am in north Florida and it is difficult to find good quality Japanese foods here)

    • @TabiEats
      @TabiEats  7 років тому +4

      My recommendation would be to add in chopped green onions, some chopped cucumbers and if you have, some bonito flakes before mixing the natto. It won't be as sticky. Oh of course make sure to add in the sauce packet or some soy sauce, whichever you have at the moment. HOpe this helps.
