- Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing 7x champion Jockey John Francome.
We chat about how his career in racing began working for Fred Winters, his time as an author and what John has been up to in lockdown.

Nice interview. I remember the 1981 /82 season with Peter Scudamore a long way ahead in the championship before breaking his leg. Francome rode level in winners then announced he had retired for the season thereby sharing the title. I thought what a gentleman and I was only 9

John Francome was a true champion, he's so down to earth in his interview with you. Truly inspiring!
Back in the day it was Great to watch a horseman of true brilliance like "John Francome" even when he was riding the damn loser i had my money on...........Then there was nothing like channel 4s horse racing broadcasts with "John Francome" giving his educational advice with a touch of sarcasm and laughter when needed...........Truly great times and today, God help the lot of us !!!!
I remember sitting next to my Grandad and watching him, Same as yourself, my grandfather would always have his money on either him or 'scu' :D

Midnight Court, one of the most under rated Gold Cup winners. Trained for the big day but the weather meant it was postponed but, because Fred Winter was a genius, the horse was still.spot on when it mattered.
Great to listen to John again. He was such an important part of the racing scene, both as a jockey and on Channel 4 racing. Such a joy and he was so accurate with his comments, fair but firm and what a sense of humour! Gosh, I miss that.

Very modest man, 7 times champion jockey, great joy to watch him both riding and presenting.such a relatable man,has just got more common sense than a lot of people.

I have recovered from major surgery quicker than the loss of John Francome as a jockey.

Deleting comments because you think they are negative is not a good way to get people to see you subjectively. If you cant take criticism or objectivism then this may not be the career for you !!
Hi Hadleigh thank you for your comment, I’d just like to assure you that no comments are deleted on my channel, I don’t however condone abuse or negativity which may come from trolling but I am very lucky because I haven’t receive that on my channel or social media platforms there for I haven’t had to address it 🥰
@@racingwithhannah8725 I can assure you I posted a response to your comments to TROUT RIVER about you not wanting negativity..I will not revisit it. However I am not "trolling" you as some snowflakes would like to suggest if it makes you feel better to imply that pathetic statement..its also not abuse or negative if someone writes something constructive but you feel obviously slighted by it. Its called candour !! I would suggest if you want to continue in a so called "journalistic" environment that you research your subjects more thoroughly as Mr Francome let you off the hook ! although not in a negative way you understand !!
