So the entire end needs to come down and be rebuilt. That's just lovely. Quarter mile up and down should be clear enough for beach and ocean-related activities to resume regardless of where the billowing smoke rolled. I really want to know what the diameter and PSI charge was on that 2-man handline throwing full stream from 100-150 feet just behind the fire line/ "trench?"

Our firefighting technology dates back to the stone age. Something better has to be out there. Large hemp blankets could be soaked in water,carried by helicopter and dropped on the fire. Sonic low frequency seems to disrupt the interface between the fuel and the atmosphere. Giant subwoofers could beat down the fires. If microwaves can speed up vibration longer wavelengths should slow them. Imagine a directed macrowave beam that chills or freezes things. They'd just make a weapon out of it.
Wood pier is tech from over 50 years ago ! Start over Oceanside ! Wood and oil is very out dated ! We need to replace all the old piers ! HillBilly's built this pier !

I didn't know Ruby's diner had closed. That was a cool place to eat. Sad that this happened to the pier at least nobody got hurt.

Seems like a deluge system would be considered to extingwish any fire or certainly limit its ability to destroy the property

What about pumps that have a sprinkler system to spray underneath aswell as above.
