I have a new (as of 04/2022) ASROCK Z690 Riptide, and I was only able to see 1 bootable drive until I enabled legacy support (CSM). Solved my issue within minutes of watching your video. Thanks!
It turns out this is an issue with the type of boot record on each hard drive. If you install windows using the old MBR, you may not see your drive in UEFI. To adjust for this in upcoming windows installs, change the boot record to GPT. If all of your installed hard drives are setup this way, you can bypass the need for legacy support - this also makes bootup faster.
Thank you from southern Indiana! This is just what I was looking for, and this is one more step with helping me figure out how to reinstall Windows 7 on my desktop computer.
i have taught something new... I was wondering, how the hell i can install on my PC Windows 7 and Windows 10 without to change partition style for Windows 10, but on my laptop without MSI MB i cant do that without changing a partition style ,and here is the answer why was not able to do that .... Thanks Sir you are the legend !
It also depends on how the USB flash drive was made bootable, in UEFI mode or in Legacy (MBR) mode ► ua-cam.com/video/wZorsGx-t7Q/v-deo.html Legacy flash drives can't be booted when the PC is in UEFI mode.
I did that, and entered the setup and my boot mode is set to UEFI. It is grayed out and it skips right over it! Please help. Thanks & great video. I have a MSI 350 MORTAR Motherboard Ryzen 5 1600x
But what keys are you pressing here? The menu says to use the arrow keys to move my flash drive up in the boot order, but pressing the arrow keys does nothing.
UEFI is newer but it's needed mostly for larger then 3Terabyte hard drives, or if you want to create more then 4 primary partitions on one disk, it will also create hidden partitions without any drive letter and thus further reducing the usable space on smaller discs, plus it has certain limitations, it won't allow you to boot from ISO files (using EasyBCD)... so Legacy and MBR is still very OK in my opinion.
I have a B350 Tomahawk. UEFI is enabled but the button is greyed out on that menu. I just spent an hour choosing ISO's for a custom YUMI rescue disc on an external SSD, and now can't boot it.
Make the USB bootable in either Legacy (MBR) of UEFI mode, the laptop's BIOS also has to be in the same mode (Legacy or UEFI) ► ua-cam.com/video/wZorsGx-t7Q/v-deo.html
If you boot the PC from USB than there is only 1 operating system on that USB flash drive. To have a menu to select which OS to boot, you need to install the operating systems onto the hard drive.

You will have to disable WHQL from windows os settings in the BIOS, to unlock the setting to change to UEFI+LEGACY.
Took a while to find this.
Thanks, i somehow turned that on. Such a stupid option

If you cant change ufie to legacy
Go to :
Settings\Advanced\Windows OS Configuration\Windows 10 WHQL Support (Windows 8/8.1 Feature) = [Disabled].

what is the best solution legacy + uefi or just uefi?
What’s better legacy or legacy + uefi?
