- A lot of MSI boards will default to booting to external storage. This video shows you on at least one MSI board how to stop this from happening.

I love how this video gets recommended to me a week after I was having this EXACT issue

BRO SAME LMAO
i’m doing my first build, on the debug led the BOOT light remains lit and the computer won’t show on my monitor. what can i do?
Sir you are my hero! Your clear and concise instructions literally helped me recover years of hours work save on my pc. Thank you again 👍🏾
For anyone else who doesnt have the BBS Configuration, this is what worked for me.
1. Go to Advanced mode, then click Settings, then click Advanced (just above Boot)
2. There should be an option like "Boot Mode: UEFI" - click that and change it to CSM
This worked for me. I think it was trying to boot from a non existent external harddrive. Let me know if this helped you because I was three seconds away from launching my PC into the concrete before figuring it out.
Pls pin this so people see
Name of video wasn't what I was looking for, but it sure solved my problem and straight to the point. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this! I was trying to dual boot ubuntu and windows 10 but the board defaulted to windows and not to GRUB. Now I can happily live without having to mash F11 on startup every time
I was trying to dual boot ubuntu and windows 10 that can be nightmare with some MSI boards!
letsssss rideeee. I had just updated my bios and couldn’t get a proper boot. only blue screens. Did this and now i’m back ripping verdansk w the fellas. absolute life saver my guy
The problem is i cant find the bbs configiration
Same how did you fix this
Did you figure it out? I can see my SSD in the BIOS but can't see this option.
Same here
Me neither
@@ItsWuLx try disconnecting all drives to force booting on one, I done loads of random things until it booted
3 year old video and its the best one I've seen explaining this
For older Motherboards (I have a B450 Tomahawk Max) just switch from UEFI to CSM (In the EZ settings, towards the bottom) , it uses both UEFI and Legacy so you I was able to select the SSD with my windows and make it boot #1, it also doubles the boot options
How do i do that.
This issue is happening to me and i have a b450
Your comment just saved me 🙏🏽
Ou shit.. god bless you bro
thx u man u save my friend life. I hope ur have a long life.
You’re an angle
I don’t even get the last option it just says my model is for my ssd is called AMD-RAID
Same
Figure it out?
what did you do how do you fix it
when I switch to UEFI, IT won't give me the option that you have at the bottom(UEFI Hard disk BBS priorities). I have an MSI z370 pro Carbon motherboard. any idea how to fix it?
i had this problem but with 4 hours of troubleshooting i might of found a fix for you guys! some of you anyway. if you are using a ssd from an older pc like me chances are the ssd is older meaning it has a different boot compatibility. What you want to do is, change from UEFI to CSM or legacy and it should now boot your preinstalled windows 10 on your ssd

Although what you showed in the video didn't solve my problem it did lead me on the right path to fixing it thank you very much
I didn’t have your issue but I didn’t know how to change the boot drives and select my internal ones. Thanks for the video.
Literally what I needed thank you. My boyfriends computer randomly turned off while I was in a valorant game and then gave me the “preparing to repair” screen of death but I managed to turn it back on with out this but now I know this for when it happens again

Mine doesn't have the bottom option in the boot settings. Any idea on what to do?
Did you fix it?
Go to advanced settings and there's an option for Windows 10. Your bios are stuck only on UEFI mode, you need Legacy and UEFI.

Life saver! I recently updated my bios and changed my processor and couldn't boot into windows!
Thank you sir!
Thank you so much I didn't know how to fix this issue and i wasted 4 hours and still couldn't figure it out but after watching your vid and booting into my main it worked
Thank you. This video saved me from all the google and youtube videos i looked up. My issue was i didnt see my new samsung nvme under fixed boot order priority but i knew the card work as i wss using it before i cloned my hdd onto it. When i went into eufi hard disk drive bbs priority sure enough there it was. Set nvme as boot drive 1 and reset the pc and now pc loads and is ready to go in maybe a second with all start up software going. Where before i swear it would take like 2 minutes before the computer would even let me click anything and load and not freeze for a few seconds
Bless you man, I was stuck trying going through a million different settings/websites. Thanks for the great help!
Omg thank you so much! I almost had a heart attack cause my mobo wasnt displaying anything!
Followed this but still hangs because it thinks it's trying to boot from a different drive despite the option of external being completely disabled...even reseated my cmos but to no avail..any ideas
Great video! I had been looking for that list to change the boot order for a while.
Thank you! It’s so horrible how it doesn’t show you all the options to boot to.
I don't any external drive but it keep booting me to click bios 5
its feature. you can boot external drive. you can also hit some button to select what drive to boot without change bios. next time you want boot external drive you go change bios LOL. still only need shortcut button to choose where to boot LOL
thank you, my pc was booting from a old windows 10 verson on one hard drive rather than my windows 11 on my ssd.
Thank you so much. I'm new to pc and I've been upgrading parts here and there slowly and adding storage to my pc. For the life of me I could not figure out how to switch to my hdd drive so thank you 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
thanks for showing that, they shouldn’t hide it behind a scrollable list of 100 useless things !!
Happened to me this evening. I updated bios and bam, it tried to boot from my secondary hdd (internal). I unplugged the secondary hdd and it booted right into Windows normally. Thanks for the guide! I will replug the hdd.
So what does one do if the “BBS hard disk properties” tab isn’t even part of their boot settings?
Was exactly what I needed, Thanks!
Please helppp!!!
I don't have windows os configuration options in my bios... For that i can't enable my gop... So I can't reach my desktop! It says graphics output protocol not found.... How can i fix this?
It automatically converts to CSM when i put in to UEFI still there's no gop option popping up
thank you normal priority list swap wasn't working saved me all kinds of headache
u think u can help me out with this problem cause i’ve been trying so long but it keeps taking me to the click bios screen
You saved me!!! I thought my M.2 was dead.. thank you!! For some reason it was disabled and it would just load straight to BIOS every time. You legend!!
What should I do if the UEIF BBS properties does not show up ?
i don’t have the bbs priorities option :/
Finaly some help F…Hell ,i have tried everything on my Katana Gf76 .it kept booting on Dos mode instead of windows.
This video helped a lot and solved the issue.Tnx
I can get here - but the drive I want to boot from is not on the list? It is recognised by the motherboard however as I can see it in the System Status menu. Does anybody have any ideas?
Did you find solution?
THANK YOU SO MUCH I thought I had to completely reset my PC, but you helped me fix the problem!!!
Thank You Michael. This is my fix! The msi meg x570 ace motherboard bios manual section is garbage.

Mike, I began looking at some of your how to vidos and would like to make a suggestion. If possible, zoom or enlarge the screen your making a video of so we can read and see what your doing. I am retired and a pilot and want to purchase a computer and do X-plane. I was trying to follow the download add one and how to out them in the right place. First I did not hear you say where to download them to? I usually send to download folder. I tried to watch carefully the next step where you were directing and could not see. I just hear you say put it here as you were highlighting over a bunch of folders. Please more details. I am 72 but still mentally quick but without details step by step I am lost. It would be nice to find a channel where I can stay just with you and not have to such so many other videos. But if your purpose us to sell computers then I understand your purpose. I have got some good info which I thank you for.

I was on the verge of killing myself, but your video has saved me thank you very much for this video now I can finally boot into the right drive without having to select boot device every single fukcing time
Thank you. I had issues where my video editing was causing my PC to suddenly shut down while rendering. Then it would try to boot to the secondary HDD when I tried to go back in. Had no idea that this was actually what was going on but this video made me remember that I got that hard drive from a headless (spare) computer that I was networked to but decided to just transfer the hard drive to my current computer. It was trying to boot from 'that' hard drive. Although my menus differ from yours things were quite self explanatory once I got in and I've disabled the other drive from being a boot device. Problem solved.
I have same issue how u fix that
This was a saviour, I was about to reset my os
I tried this before watching this as it was logical. But didn't work. It keeps trying to boot external (NON BOOTABLE) drives. It only boots if I unplug them. So I searched and found your video and tried again and nope. I have 2 drives installed with OS. I even disabled all USB options. NO HELP. I either have to unplug the USB cord or go to bios and click one of the 2 internal options for direct boot.
This was direct and to the point ! Switched cables and something went wrong I thought I lost it all .. thank u I had the same exact bios lol 😂 that’s all I had to do
Thank you is an understatement right now. Am so grateful Sir. You save our Business.
Regards
I enabled it but my CPU is clocking up to 5.5ghz randomly and randomly runs at max clock in idle. But it did drastically reduce the boot time.
in my case, the flash that is listed in boot options does not show up in "UEFI hard disk drive bbs priorities", So I can change the Boot option but there is only one option in "UEFI hard disk drive bbs priorities" So what I did. I disable Win. But I end up with not effective screen (maybe it is because of my flash(but I tried two flashes)
Or, when Windows setup reboots (for the 2nd half of the setup) unplug the external drive.
I don't have the BBS thing
I'm here because in trting to figure out why mine gives up if the removable media is #1, but no media is present.
Back in the day you could set the order as floppy A:, CD D:, HDD and if no floppy or CD was present it went to the HDD.
With this Mobo, if there is no media it just gives up and inhave to go into bios every time and shuffle the order around.
(Yes, floppy, I'm old)
what you’re showing here is what I’m looking for… (that option on the bottom of the boot settings..) mine doesn’t have that though.. I have pretty much the same board as you….I have MSI Z590 Wifi Pro… keeps just booting into bios…
I’m having the same problem in an MSI board did you manage to fix it?
May we have another? Please show us how to install the I225L LAN Driver on MSI's PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 board so that Windows 11 will install (it needs internet access to complete its install).
I got a message ''gpt header is missing or corrupted'' but before that happened I also got a fail to boot stopping at a black screen often but not always when usb drives where plugged in.

What if I accidentally enabled the UEFI usb boot key and now my screen only says that I need the boot key to do anything? How do I fix that?

Absolute legend.
Make sure everything is put back right and the gpu has power, I was stuck for 15 minutes trying to figure out what was going on.
someone I know doesn't have the uefi bbs priorities thing can anyone help?
I have the same issue on my unify motherboard
You are probably trying to boot from a disk that is MBR and not GPT. Search for a setting that changes UEFI to CSM. CSM supports MBR disks.
Thank this helped me a Lot🙃
@@Khaos768 Man thank you so much, it worked!

Similar issue and it’s not working for me, installed a new ssd and transfered ALL files over and it has a bootable OS and it’s refused to boot from it unless I hit f11 and force it through boot options. I’ve tried so many options with the boot order
I built my pc today with the MSI Tomahawk Z790 DDR4.
People kept saying I have to update it, if I want to use a 13th Gen Intel.
So I flash updated the BIOS. Then placed all components and tried to boot.
It didn't boot, monitor kept saying HDMI no signal.
So I finally gave up and pressed the CMOS then all the sudden it went to the MSI BIOS. I noticed the latest BIOS version was on the board.
I could eventually install Win10 on the SSD. Then I had problem with one the two HHD. It was broken. So I took it out. Then tried to reboot again.
Now whatever I try it doesn't boot anymore. The monitor keeps again saying HDMI no Signal.
I don't know what to do. Please help me.
I don’t even have an external drive. It was just booting to the wrong SSD
I cloned a sata ssd to m.2 nvme and msi B550 would boot from sata even after setting boot order to m.2 first. Unplugged sata to get it to work from m.2. Haven't plugged sata back in to see which it would boot from
I am having trouble booting into BIOS. MSI Z390 motherboard.
I did this in my Gigabyte motherboard. It worked for a couple of weeks. Now suddenly if I change the storage drive to disable boot, restart the pc it goes right back. It is not keeping the settings. All other settings are fine and I changed out the cmos battery and it still does it. Reverts right back to trying to boot from the system and storage drive.
I disconnected my external drive and does nothing help I'm still stuck? Help
For some reason I did this and it didn’t work but I’m probably just having a different problem because my boot screen whenever I try to get into my pc just never loads and only says preparing aoutomatic repair
Hello, I have this problem but I can’t see the option UEFI Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities you indicated, and I can’t access the windows. Can you give some advice? It’s frustrating 😅
Thank you very much 🙏
I have my OS on a nvme m.2, and 3x sata (internal HDD) for internal storage. When I reboot or turn on my computer with my 3 sata connected, it is very slow (4 minutes), when I disconnect all the sata and let just the nvme m.2, my PC starts in 3 seconds. also happens with all the SATA drives formatted and with no files and no partititons. I think should be a Motherboard problem. I had a MSI z590 A PRO and everything was perfect, Since I updated to MSI z690 A PRO DDR4, the start with the storage drives is a nightmare.
I have the bazooka motherboard, I did what you showed on the video I see the first starting window and after that black screen what can be the issue? The computer stays on but I see nothing ☹️ please help!!!!
