O o o been waiting on y'all to get into bream bed fishing..love those shellcrackers !! That lake of y'alls is a panfish paradise. Great vid..love it. Carry on.
Great job Cole, you always do a fantastic job fishing. I love to watch you cook, I get hungry every time you fix those fish, tell Jay we said hello and hope she is feeling ok. Your friend in Christ, Wallace.
Nice catch Cole!! The red ears seem to spawn real shallow here too, the bluegills will be farther out. I’ve seen the gills spawn through September up north here and as deep as nine ten feet if the lake has a lot of boat traffic ( ski boats and PWC’s)
Cole, have you ever used the old fashion cane pole to fish with? That is the way I learned to fish and was what I used until I was about 14-15 for most of the bream and crappie fishing that we did. Then they came out with collapsible fiberglass poles that took the place of the cane poles. What are the bream limits now? The limit was 100 when I was a kid.
Hi Cole! Does the red ear taste different than a blue gill? Also, could you tell me how you know the difference between a male and female? Also, how do you know it's a hybrid? You can answer on the next video if ud like. I'd really like to see the difference if possible
Unless your palate is ultra refine, you won't taste the difference. Especially if you use the same type of seasoning or recipe. I wouldn't say it's the same but it's very very similar. And just like most things in the animal kingdom, the males are usually more colorful (to attract a mating partner). Male bluegills will have vertical patterns (bars) across their body and will have a more rounder shape. Females will have duller colors and appear more stretched. The black plate on their gills will be larger on males. I don't catch many redears but I assume they have similar characteristics as the bluegill.
You set a great example for conservation by not keeping those pre-spawn females. Additionally, I am so impressed by your wildlife photography. You definitely have the knack for it and could no doubt have a long and prosperous career in that profession should you choose to do so.
It is opposite with bluegills from a conservation standpoint you should be keeping the females if you want to keep good genetics inferior males do the breeding when too many male big males are harvested many studies have proven this something to look into
@@jeremylesso857 Studies conducted by Andrew Rypel, research biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, indicates that assertion is false. Rypel analyzed panfish size trends over the past 70 years and found, as creel limits were liberalized, the average size of each species decreased. This runs counterintuitive to the oft-held belief that panfish will overpopulate, stunting their growth. Nevertheless, Wisconsin reduced the creel limits for bluegill and, over a period of years, average bluegill size increased. According to Rypel: "Fishing pressure, particularly on spawning beds where bluegills are most vulnerable, can be intense. And that pressure may be decreasing the size of the fish." I thanked Cole for putting back the pre-spawn females so they would have the opportunity to lay their eggs. Bluegill fry are an important part of the food chain, constituting forage for many species such as bass, catfish, and other panfish. I also have a concern about harvesting too many spawning males (Cole was very selective and didn't over-harvest males). Once eggs are laid, females leave the males to guard the nest. What happens when the number of males is seriously depleted? For that reason, I leave all spawning species alone during their relatively brief periods of reproduction.
I was watching Richard Jean one day catching big red ears and he barley put the hook in the worm and then tossed the whole worm out and boom so I went out and got a few worms and went out to a little farm pond that we bass fish in. I stuck my hook in its mouth and then right back out like Richard did lol. My line took off across the water and I set the hook and I thought I just caught me a big ole bass but then remembered what I was fishing with. A little bitty crappie pole but when I got that thing in it was the biggest perch /red ear I ever caught. I couldn’t believe it because we never fish for anything but bass
Are you too far north to be bothered by gators? Looks like a really nice marshy area with lots of cyprus trees for structure. Have not noticed any gators in the vacinity.,,Nice redears though.
Always fun to catch bluegill and red ear! Just dig up some worms and go!! Great video!!
Catching some nice fish. Good eating.

Love the B roll! Also, Go Sox!
Lake Havasu AZ has monster redear. A video here would be a great watch.
Sometime, try Zatarain's Dirty Rice or Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice with your fish. Also, Baked Beans are good with fish.
Nice haul!
Nice catch

Fantastic video…….Take Jay next time if she’s feeling well enough!………Take a Veteran fishing!!
Hey Cole, when you say a "Hybrid Red Ear," did you mean a cross between it and a Bluegill?" That looks like a beautiful cross for sure!"
Yes! Those two fish make an amazing looking panfish

Bluegill and other panfish can't be over fished in the wild!!! In a pond yeah in a river system no way

Fish bussiness brisk looks like.
Hey Cole would you try grits and fish ⁉️ Come on man I know you could spice it up and make it good 😊
I think a world record fish should only count if it’s caught in its native waters the redear caught in Lake Havasu shouldn’t count.
Need to try some fried fish with Alfredo
that looks yummy
Awesome
😊❤
Hey cole I'm ready got the fish season hot grease fried potatoes and the beer is on ice I'll through in some Cole slaw and hush puppies let's eat man
Your awesome bro
Contrary to most fishermen, the little panfish mostly are near shore, not out in the middle areas.
Bye Jay. I'll figure there somewhere
I always thought that the red ear was a hybrid. Didn't know they spawned. The gill is the best fish to hit a pan of hot oil.
Which rod are you using? It seems so much smaller than mine. I definitely need one that’s smaller.
The ACC Crappie Stix 6’6” 1 piece!
Crystal Louisiana hot sauce is the best!!!!!! The one and only
wow theyre big ones..like crappie size in our area..
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The Blues best eaten there is.

Grandson and I caught some red ears last week in Kentucky that were pushing a pound each. Biggest I have ever seen
Cole, when is Jay's due date??🍼🍼🍼❤❤
How can you tell difference between male and female with out cutting them
Where do y’all live? Looks like the Bayou or Swamp are in Louisiana
Arkansas

Where's my JAY
Cole are thise copper nose bream you are catching. I think we called them copper nose bream
These aren’t. But I wish we had some
In this lake
How do you keep them from swallowing the hook, every.. single.. time…?
Upsize your hook a little bit or set the depth of your bobber more shallow so you can detect the bite more quickly!
Hey Cole😊
When you distinguish between male and females, could you let us know how we can tell ❤
Was this on Thursday? I was out there and saw someone in a yak smacking the bream
I think this was on Monday, but I was smacking them on Thursday haha
@@COLE_and_JAY I was with my boss we were easing back towards the main lake we were in an older maroon champion
Was the guy in a red shirt and a yellow yak ? If so then it might have been Cole 😅
You said this big old ocean on a creek lol.😅😅
How about catching catching a lot of BIG SLABS COPPER NOSE PAN FISH 💯💯💯💯💯💯
What rod is that anyone have the link?
It’s the ACC crappie Stix 6’6” 1 piece!
acccrappiestix.com/product/gs661p-1-piece-dock-shooting-spinning-rod/
no fishing in this video, just catching 8)
Do u eat bass
First
Is that a sunken boat in the water in front of you? If it is, why do people leave junk like that in the lake? They need to remove it from the water!
Yeah it is! I think this lot was abandoned. The fish were using it for cover though haha
If you get in the water, they will bite on you.
Where's jay
Home , sick , pregnant
They look more like Crappies
Crappie don't have the blue gill cover , hence the name blue gill
Or red ear
Are you too far north to be bothered by gators? Looks like a really nice marshy area with lots of cyprus trees for structure. Have not noticed any gators in the vacinity.,,Nice redears though.
We have a small population of gators in this lake. Some
Big ones though! I have video of a 10footer on here
To keep the nats off baby oil mix with vanilla
I would of loved to have been there with you catching all that fun.We call them chinky pens here in La.
Them chinqs are definitely some good eating. You need a rag in the boat with you.
Where is the boss
She is going to be in our video coming up today at 5!
