Archer of Fire/The Scalawag Bunch/Long Live Robin Hood (HD English dub)

  • This is the film L'arcieri di fuoco (1971) in HD with English dubbing. The English title is listed in different places as "The Archer of Fire", "The Scalawag Bunch", or "Long Live Robin Hood." This video is an amateur amalgamation of the HD video that I found online and the English version of the audio recorded from a VHS tape of "The Scalawag Bunch" (which is the only release of the film in English that I am aware of). The front and back of the VHS box may be seen here: www.samuelstokesmusic.com/The... (It incorrectly identifies Mark Damon as Robin Hood instead of Guiliano Gemma).
The film has some slightly different cuts between scenes, along with one 30 second horse-riding scene cut out of the English version at the beginning, so there are some spots where the audio switches between versions or drops out momentarily so that the audio remains in sync with the video. I decided to leave the HD video fully intact and only edit the audio as necessary. Hopefully, someday an HD version with better quality English audio will be released, but in the meantime, hopefully this will help more people to discover and enjoy this film that I very much enjoy.
If you have any further information on the history of this film, or the different home video releases, please leave me a message in the comments.

During Richard's ten-year reign, he is believed to have spent no longer than six months in England, and probably couldn’t speak English. The triumphant appearance he makes in many Robin Hood films is unlikely to have occurred in reality - if indeed the hooded hero existed.

I grew up watching Richard Greene as Robin Hood when I could get my Aunt and Uncle . We didn’t have a TV. I do remember seeing Errol Flynn, I thought it was great. I still watch it a couple times a year. This movie here is a lot better than I thought it would be. I even have Robin Hood figures and a castle from Germany. Knights, knights, good knights. These differences in the stories is always very interesting. ❤😊

What a great flick, man. Thanks to whoever posted this. I'm only 23:37 minutes in, and I'm pausing the session here since I got to go on my 9 to 5 tomorrow but I really enjoyed the music, the inn fight, the way Henry of Nottingham swinged the chandelier was topnotch, several tiny details such as this really makes you wonder about the character. I'll be back.

Surprisingly good with careful English dubbing. The sword fights are some of the most realistic I’ve ever seen. Giuliano Gemma as Robin Hood is incredibly fit and agile and his stunts are a joy to see. I reckon I’ve almost seen every Robin Hood movie and I would rate this in the top 5.

The definitive version of Robin Hood films in my humble opinion is the 1938 Erroll Flynn version,Flynn at the height of his powers with an excellent supporting cast and glorious Technicolor no other Robin Hood film has come close. In saying that this was an enjoyable romp with an interesting take on the Hood legend thanks for posting.

Warner Brothers seamlessly recycled footage from the Flynn version into a Bugs Bunny cartoon, Bugs thus meeting
Robin Hood. Flynn later said, "I finally made it in Hollywood, co-starring with Bugs Bunny."

Though it differs a little from the original legend I like the character of Robin hood as shown in this film - bold, wittty, daredevil, passionate, ... The plot is excellent, and the film has wonderful swashbuckling scenes.

Wow, what a treat. An "Italian" Robin Hood, and so fun. Errol Flynn, eat your heart out. This was even more enjoyable than the Hollywood version with Flynn, Basil Rathbone (of Sherlock Holmes fame mind you) as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.
Excellent production, and frankly I couldn't tell if the English was dubbed. And that last sword fencing scene was reminiscent of Stewart Granger's swordsmanship with Mel Ferrer in that Hollywood version of "Scaramouche." Granger's name in real life was actually James Stewart, (but since there already was a Hollywood "Jimmy Stewart", Stewart changed his name to Stewart Granger.) This avoided confusion.

    • @Alan-rh1el
      @Alan-rh1el Рік тому

Basil Rathbone played Guy of Gisburne in The Adventures of Robin Hood the Sheriff was played by Melville Cooper. I agree that the sword ffight at the end of this film was pretty good but to compare it with one of Hollywoods greatest fencing duels it doesn't quite match up.

on 14:00 Robin is at an inn and sees a single man being attacked by a whole group of soldiers, so he decides to help him. Together they defeat the group and then they recognize each other as childhood friends.
The innkeeper says they should leave as soon as possible, Robin asks his friend to wait a while because he has to pack his things. The innkeeper then tells the friend that he had better drive away quickly and not wait two coins for his old friend who probably just saved his life.
Subsequently, Robin has to pay the groomsman a lot to learn that his friend has disappeared in the woods. Robin goes after him, but yes it is the middle of the day, so he decides to have an afternoon nap. He gets rid of all his stuff and goes to sleep with his head on the saddle.
Then he wakes up and everything is gone, including the saddle. Taken by the forest dwellers, his friend's presumed friends... but I don't know because here I've given up watching a movie with a completely unbelievable script.

    1Kuula
    Tervitus
1 Paulus, Jumala tahtmisel Kristuse Jeesuse apostel, ja vend
Timoteos - pühadele, kes on Kolossas, ustavatele vendadele Kristuses:
2 Armu teile ja rahu Jumalalt, meie Isalt [ja meie Issandalt
    Jeesuselt Kristuselt]!
    Tänu ja palve koguduse eest
3 Me täname Jumalat ja meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse Isa alati,
    kui me teie eest palvetame,
4 sest me oleme kuulnud teie usust Kristusesse Jeesusesse ja
    mil te kuulsite ja tõeliselt ära tundsite Jumala armu;
14 kelles meil on lunastus, pattude andeksandmine.
19 Sest Jumalal on olnud hea meel
lase end kõrvale viia evangeeliumis olevast lootusest, mida te
olete kuulnud ja mida on kuulutatud kogu loodule taeva all ja
mille teenriks olen saanud mina, Paulus.
    koguduse heaks,
rikkus kõigi rahvaste seas; see on - Kristus teie sees, kirkuse
    lootus.
28 Meie kuulutame teda, manitsedes iga inimest ja õpetades iga
inimest kogu tarkuses, et seada iga inimest Jumala ette täiuslikuna
    Kristuses.
    on tegev väega.
    2Kuula
5 sest ehk ma küll ihulikult olen eemal, olen ma vaimu
9 Sest temas elab kogu jumalik täius ihulikult,
teid on Jumal koos Kristusega elavaks teinud,
Need on vaid

That’s more the reason for ‘ The Dark Ages’, the people were kept in the dark about anything to do with common sense. The Religious order.Kept the people in the dark as to what the Bible actually says!! That Religious order was responsible for condemning the Bible being printed in common language. They had two of the earliest printer killed!! They hated the people to know only what they would tell them!!

Notice the view that Robin Hood takes against those of the religious establishment. This is so very true of the majority of Robin Hood books.

What an excruciatingly dull movie. I can't even scrape enough interest together to find it boring.

The dubbing was incredibly dreadful....the acting was not quite up to the standard of the dubbing and whoever wrote this got a job afterwards writing cheap porn stories that were better written than this dribble! Overall they should have just given me the money this flick cost and not inflicted such misery on the world.
